The bully in this school has been the worst Ive seen in my whole school experience. Older students have recorded themselves bully and harassing their younger classmates or recording them without their knowledge while playing.

They dont treat their coaches well. High turnover rate for coaches. If your child is looking to play sports expect for them to see multiple coaches over the years. Also expect to take them out and move by high school because there is no consistency with coaching staff.

The teachers kept showing my sisters work as missing even after showing them her work. My parents had reached out to the deans, but nothing has been done (they didnt even respond). My sister has tried to go to tutoring, but they alway cancel or dont help her. There is no coordination with the teachers or parents. The blatant lack of care for some students is very obvious. Not to mention the high work load they give kids.

Stay away! This school used to be a great place to send your kids however it has fallen off under new administration. Theft has risen so much students are required to use locks on lockers (this wasnt standard practice). Vandalism, fight clubs, and vaping happen so frequent that doors have been removed from the bathrooms. Reports of racism, students being cussed out by staff and abuse have been confirmed by students but ignored by administrators.
Sexism seems to run the main office. At the time of writing this: Headmaster- 2 assistant headmasters - Athletic director and both assistant athletic directors are all males. I believe there is only 1 female in an administration roll. This leads to a nonchalant attitude when it comes to dealing with those that are bullied or have special needs and misogyny. Also, its 2023, should the name master be in anyones title that is in a position of power? Yikes!
Teachers are underpaid and not certified (multiple administrators dont have a teaching certificate) leading to tremendous staff turnover every year. Multiple years school starts without being full staffed and often teachers have left during the school year.
Test score are high but its due to the school dismissing those with learning disabilities or those with less fortunate economic circumstances.
I could go on and on but seriously, be careful with this school and your children. There are lots of options in the community that are more stable and supportive to your kids needs.

My child has been going to this school since its been open, and I have to say she is the most respectful child. Learning it at home and it being reiterated at school is exactly what are future leaders need.

When my child has fallen behind for whatever reason, I would get an email immediately saying so. Offering tutoring to get her back up to par. As a busy parent this is SO appreciated. Trivium wants their student to be a success

The only bullying Ive heard from my child has always been a child that hadnt been there from an early age, like 6 or 7. When my child comes home to discuss conflicts Ive always asked how long have they been here at this school. The answer has always been children that just started there. Like 6 or 7th grade. Where they had not gotten that true discipline from an early age at Archway.

My child has been at Great Hearts since its opening and Im a minority. Ive never experienced any racism or bullying in regards to my child. They have done everything in their power to see that my child succeeds. I cant say enough about this school!
I recommend it to anyone who wants or needs to see their child become a success !

I feel the homework is rigorous, but they have many opportunities to get it done. They offer tutoring all the time. Plus study a study hall. My child is in sports and theyve always encouraged getting homework done before practice, had a study hall ready for the team.

Teachers are knowledgeable in content areas but most lack basic, fundamental understanding of developmental needs of children. Academic demands and behavioral expectations are largely inappropriate and in excess of where they are developmentally.

This school does little to teach or build character. Staff and teachers are disrespectful and bully students. They put the rear of God Inyo students to gain their compliance. Thats a quote from an administrator. They expect a lot of their scholars but do little to build character except to expect that they gain it through osmosis when a student walks through their doors.

Staff, both gen ed and special ed teachers, and administration lack basic understanding of disabilities and federal and state laws that govern the delivery of special education services to students with disabilities. It is a fact that TPA has been found to be non-compliant with iep service delivery. My child was treated as a pariah by staff.

Administration did nothing to stop bullying that took place only to consequence my child when my child stood up to a student who teased, taunted, and ridiculed my child day in and day out. Every concern for bullying I brought to their attention was dismissed. This school does not provide a safe learning environment for students.

The lack of diversity at this school is extremely unfortunate. As the only African American teacher at this school I felt extremely bullied and ostracized by the leadership and Director of College Counseling. Several times I was even called aggressive by the the Headmaster, which is highly inaccurate and offensive. Its sad that minority students dont truly see themselves in the faculty. If your student is a minority, good luck. I say this having seen disturbing things with for myself. I read several reviews online about the HIGH turnover, but choose to ignore it. This was a huge mistake. Theyll never be this high performing school they boost about because every year there are new teachers. There is no consistency for students. At some point the leadership has to take a real look at why so many teachers leave each and every year. I think there are some great teachers and students at this school, but overall deeply rooted issues need to be fixed. If this school had their transcripts audited theyd be in some serious trouble.

This school has provided a great experience for my child. It's a great sign when your child comes home excited and wants to pursue learning more about something that was discussed in school.

Some may say that the homework load is too much; however, I have found that homework is only too much when my child is leaving the homework to the last minute. This is not a problem with the school, but with how my child approaches the homework. Learning effective time management can solve many issues regarding the time it takes to complete homework. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn real life skills that will help them in college and beyond.

The teachers are great and inspire a love of learning.

Overall, it is a great experience. If your child is having difficulty, there are a myriad of support opportunities available to them. It's a great school and great community.

Generally those whose students are excelling here will give great reviews and those whose children are overwhelmed academically will give low reviews. Its a challenging curriculum and not every student can handle it. Getting straight A's in the public school does not mean students will get straight A's here. New students are generally not accepted in 11th or 12th grade because they are too far behind to keep up. The work is hard and the homework is long at times. But the students are incredibly prepared for college.

I'm amazed at the reviews that denigrate the culture and policies of the school as they are well laid-out prior to attending. If you want pop culture, phone use in the classroom, funny socks and shoes, blue hair, etc. this is not the school for you. Discipline is also taken very seriously. Bullying is not tolerated. My kids have been at the school since the day it opened. It is a free charter school, but since it only receives 75% of what public schools receive, they ask for donations. Every parent should feel privileged to help provide for their child's education. The wait list here for students to get in is over 1000 long. They are doing something right. I am a parent of two Trivium students as well as a teacher.

Trivium has a very challenging and rigorous curriculum however it is tolerable. The education is great at trivium. However I have witnessed several times where a student was bullying another student in different ways. The deans talked to both students however no discipline was given to the student bullying. The other student was also being bullied out side of school by the same person and his friend. The deans and headmaster of the school did nothing about it even when talking to the student being bullied. Trivium is a safe enviornment. However for a small school and the expectations that they have for students almost hypocritical . The reason I will no longer be attending trivium is for these matters. If you have difficulty with bullying, trivium may not be your school to attend.

this school might be fun for some people and awful for others.Its way to strict like yes i understand there is going to be rules but not being able to wear colorful nailpolish, or socks, not even bracelets In my opinion is a bit to much. Also the classes are very boring just writing notes every single day.

I love this school. I didn't think my local grade school was challenging my children enough, so I moved them to Trivium. It's a college prep school, so the curriculum is rigorous, but not ridiculous. I have never met a more caring, dedicated group of teachers and administrators at a school in my life. I can honestly say that I feel like they really want the kids not only to succeed, but to excel. Moving my kids here will probably be the best thing I have ever done for their education.

My son is in his 6th year at Trivium Prep.

We have been happy with the curriculum and teachers for the last six years. Yes, the school is rigorous but the homework level has never been extreme. Over the years, we have seen kids transfer into the school who were struggling at their home school and the child's struggle is compounded when they arrive at Trivium. Parents send their children for social and not academic reasons and that is always a formula for failure. Great Hearts is a COLLEGE preparatory school.

The curriculum is on the website and I would study it and think long and hard before making the commitment.

I would also like to remind readers that Trivium is a charter school and it only receives .75 cents on the $1 from the state compared to your local home school. Again, all of this is clearly spelled out on the website.

The headmaster at Trivium prep is very professional & I appreciate that.
The deans need to be respectful towards the students. They are on a power trip, they belittle the students, a lot of times its in regards to the dress code. They lie & when confronted &/or are corrected & they will not apologize. Instead they harrass the students for telling the parents.
I can't help but wonder if racism is an issue.

On another note.... they do not talk about or allow pop-culture. So no Christmas concerts, you can't talk about current news, current movies or music....
Very strict dress code.
Very strict on attendance & tardies.
A lot of homework & rigorous curriculum. You can get behind very quickly if you dont understand something or if you miss a day.
High turn over rate on teachers.
They do not have a cafeteria.
Between the uniforms, book deposits, supplies & books it can get a bit pricey.
Specially if you have multiple children attending.
If your child fails a class you have to pay to retake a class in the summer or find a college to retake the class which will still cost $.
Your child will do nothing but homework after school. My children will end up falling asleep while doing homework very often because there is so much to do. They do get homework on the weekends as well.

Like anywhere else I've seen staff & teachers to be cliquish, gossip & judge parents.
So if you're a parent with tattoos & piercings get ready for the judgemental looks.

While there are some amazing teachers at Trivium, all that I listed above is something you should think about before choosing this school.

Challenging curriculum, caring staff, and engaged parents all work together to make this an excellent well-rounded school. Have been at the school since it opened and the school continues to grow in excellence. Some of the parents are overly zealous in not discussing those occasional issues of concern that arise which makes open and honest discussion possible. Overall, it is great to see a school that challenges the students to think for themselves and to engage in regular discussion.

The challenging course work will generate students easily able to adapt to the rigors of higher academia when they have graduated from high school. These students will also be a great asset in the workforce after spending so many years being challenged to meet high standards.
