My son has been in this school 1 yrs and first year overall I thought this school was great for my son and was reassured that he would be returning, last week of vacation I received a call from the principal and was told that my son will not be returning to this school and got rejected because of insufficient credit and Detentions.... Detentions where given to my child to make up work not because he was given disciplinary action. My son has an IEP and has been on an IEP and I feel like there was discrimination in this matter. The teachers he had didn't seem to show a care for his education. My son has to attend summer school to be able to return to school so he attended and he was still rejected. This school sadly does not have the capability to work with children on an IEP and they unfortunately do not help these children they low grade them to the point my son has to come home almost crying telling me that the teachers call him stupid for not knowing some work problems.

Class of 2001. I had a great experience at this school my entire 4 years. Wouldn't change a thing. Great teachers and great school.

Independence is great! I'm currently a sophomore and my experience here has been terrific! I love my peers and teachers!

I attended Independence High School as a freshmen for year 2011-12. My experience in that school was great! Freshmen year is forever a memorable memory for me. The staff, teachers, and students are wonderful. There's so much extra activities to sign up for. Dance, robotics, French club, stomp dancing, all kinds of engineering, and year book club. You can even sign up for before school classes and even get an extra class for after school. Teachers are there to help you if your having difficulties understanding something, or just having problems at home. Also, I know many kids are concerned with cafeteria food. Well at Independence it's so good! They have many choices, and if you get tired of the food they have candy, chips, and soda machines. Their breakfast is delicious as well. God, I miss their food. I think Independence is an excellent school.
