At SFVA you are family :) It is a small school with a big heart. My son came to this school in his 2nd grade, he is currently a 7th grader. My son is thriving not only academically but spiritually as well. If I need to speak with a teacher they are just a phone call away, they work side by side with me to ensure the success of my son. My son also plays many sports at SFVA like basketball, flag football and soccer. My son enjoys music and STEM class. If you are looking for a school that will push them academically, grow spiritually and mentally, and become productive citizens you have come to the right school.

I am an alumna and currently have relatives attending this school. If you want your child to have teachers who truly care, this is a great school to send your child. The teachers at this school not only care about how your child performs academically, but their character growth as well. Something all parents, alumni, and students can say is that they don't have to deal with or worry about bullying at the school. It's one less thing everyone has to worry about.

With class sizes being small, the student to teacher ratios ensure that your child gets the attention they need to make sure they do their best. Some teachers spend extra time after school to provide help for students. If you are concerned about combined grades, as a student I found it helpful. Teachers instruct one grade while the other works on something then switches to the other grade. As the lower grade student, you get exposure to future curriculum which is extra education than what parents pay for. As the upper grade student, sometimes you get a review while the lower grade is learning a concept.

If you are concerned about socialization due to small class sizes, worry not. A small class size allows for students to focus on their work without distraction from other students, but also allows for the class to form close bonds. Come recess time, your child has the opportunity to socialize and play with her/his classmates and with others in the other grades. Everyone always mentions the school being small that it feels like family - it truly is. I met all of my closest friends in this school. It really gives you friends for life. But it's not just the friends you have for the rest of your life, but the teachers stick around too. They continue to care about you long after you've left, and if you reach out for help with anything, the teachers are willing to help you.

Many alumni from here continue to do great things. The school produces many doctors, nursing students, and compared to its sister Adventist schools, SFVA has a higher ratio of producing students who go on to become pastors. So if religion or spiritual growth is important to you and something you want for your child to have, SFVA is the school to send your child. Investing in this school isn't an investment for just up to the 13 years you can spend at this school. It's an investment for life on earth and beyond.

There's no such thing as a perfect school, most people on this website here look for the perfect one. But in reality, there are always problems and mistakes...everywhere. So I'm not going to say SFVA is a perfect school although it isn't, SFVA is a blessing. (continue reading, you must. it's long.) San Fernando Valley Academy is an Adventist (Christian) private school that has small amount of students and teachers that care about you like no other. We are basically like a big family. Everyone knows each other and looks out for one another. The most important thing you should expect from this school is Adventist education. SAN FERNANDO VALLEY ACADEMY HAS THE BEST CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IT HAS TO OFFER. In the high school, we have a fellowship time everyday just to focus on God. All grades learn about God, and in high school we have religion classes and religious events run by ASB. Knowing that we, a small school learn so much about God, help us in our relationships with each other and our own relationship with God. It strengthens our faith to conquer the real world with the gospel, and training your child to become an outstanding leader for churches and/or the world.

Low functioning educational program, and this is unfortunate. For the money paid for tuition, we families should be getting so much more from the school. My niece attended this school four years and "graduated" from SFVA. She was not prepared to do anything with her life, and did not get into any private or public colleges except for one, which will take basically anyone who applies and pays tuition in Arizona. When I look at my son's education, which he received at Granada, and hers, I feel so lucky I did not have this bad experience. My son had opportunities to go to college, even get a scholarship, because he was prepared. This was not the case with my niece, who lived with us. She thought school was boring and was never engaged by her teachers. The caliber of the kids is low. No gifted kids, no high achieving kids. Kids with learning problems whose parents pulled them out of public school thinking a small class would be better, but there was no academic support or good teaching methods used to help those kids. Very sad. They combine grades because they have such low enrollment. Take a look at the credentials and the teaching experience each teacher/principal has.

I am a former teacher, I have HIGH expectations for my children in school. I searched and searched for the right school and we found it! SFVA not only offers the most amazing teachers who care for your child's well being, their education but also for their spirituality, this was all I needed to see and I was sold! My expectations are being highly met. The principal seems to have a handle on things and gets the job done. It's not a huge school, but that's what makes it so great, you don't get lost in the shuffle, your child has a name and face and they are valued! We are looking forward to an exciting school year!

Don't even bother to inquire about the CDC program at SFVA! The director, Ms. Wesley, who is with the kids most of the day is overwhelmed, has no set curriculum, and does not keep the facility clean. She promotes pre-school agenda but does not deliver! My rating is based soley on the experience with the CDC.
