I have mentioned before Monterey is spectacularly located near many worthy destinations. From San Diego to Northern California, there are plenty of once in a lifetime opportunities. Los Angeles Air Force Base (AFB) Housing and Information:
Location: Los Angeles Air Force Base (LA AFB) is located just south of Los Angeles International Airport and less than a mile west of the San Diego Freeway (I-405) in the city of El Segundo, a part of Los Angeles County. Beach, mountain, and desert recreation opportunities are just a short drive away. World renowned theme parks and the glamour of Hollywood are right here as well.

Schools: None on base. Students attend local schools based on where they live. Children living in base housing, which is located in San Pedro, attend Leland Street Elementary School (if the family lives at Fort MacArthur), White Point Elementary School (if the family lives in the Crest or the Heights), Dana Middle School and San Pedro High School -- all part of Los Angeles Unifed School District.
Some school districts have elected to be districts of choice, and students may request an interdistrict transfer from the school district in which they reside to the school district where the parent or guardian wishes their child to attend.
Personnel attached to Los Angeles AFB may request interdistrict transfers for their children to attend the other school district of their choice. Requests are considered on a space available basis, and no request is guaranteed.

Housing: Military Family Housing is privatized housing, located at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, approximately 20 miles south of Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB).
