I don't know why there are so many negative reviews, my son is doing great here. Teachers are very knowledgeable, and we really appreciate the timely communication.

Our concerns were not with the teachers or the school leadership in fact, we found the staff to be above average overall, with some newer teachers still finding their footing.
The real issue was the lax computer policy. In many of our 7th-grade sons classes, multiple boys regularly misused their school-issued computers to watch videos or play games during instruction. Despite our efforts to explain to our son why this was inappropriate and distracting, the environment made it difficult for him to stay focused.
Before 7th grade, he struggled with video game use, which we managed through screen time limits and monitoring apps balancing doctor recommendations with peer norms. But once he entered Granite Oaks, that balance collapsed. The schools open device policy allowed unrestricted access during school hours, unless a teacher manually intervened and even then, tools like GoGuardian didnt reliably log video viewing.
As a result, his screen habits spiked dramatically, and we saw real regression. Many other students were engaging in the same behavior. We contacted the assistant principal, teachers, and even the district IT department but nothing changed.
We are now looking into other school districts with stronger digital policies. If you're considering Granite Oaks, I strongly encourage you to ask hard questions about device management and advocate for reform. This issue isnt about one child its systemic.

We remain very concerned about the alcohol and drugs on campus.This middle school is much too close to Rocklin and Victory High Schools in our opinion. So many situations where our middle schoolers are lured over to the High Schools for unsafe activities.

My adopted daughter has struggled every step of the way.They refuse to provide her an IEP though she has a tipple diagnosis and is on numerous medications.Instead they want her to attend detention and Friday school.The punitive approach is simply fueling her frustration and she is getting further behind.I have learned there are others here with a similar issue.Why is it so hard to get Special Education services?

Would like to see a much more positive,proactive approach in general.The Principal and Vice Principal have some great skills and make an effort.We transferred from Spring View (in the same district)and certainly prefer the leadership at Granite Oaks.We found the Principal an Vice Principal at Spring View to both be deceptive and poor role models for students.

Our son does have n IEP and we are pleased with the support he is getting at Granite Oaks.There was far too many excuses made at Spring View.

So far we have not seen anywhere near the bullying issues at Granite Oaks that we were exposed to at Spring View. The staff seem to care about this though.

We have been here several weeks now and it is a very refreshing change from the previous middle school.Staff are creative and we like that! Campus is also clean which is nice.

Majority of the teachers at this school are helpful. Sometimes the students are the problem. But Im quite disappointed with how the school handled the bullying situation.

The use of Schoology and technology was very helpful, but some teachers gave out homework without properly explaining how to solve or what you had to do.

I dealt with bullying at this school. I was on the receiving end. When I told the teachers about it only one actually did anything. The rest did nothing. The principal and counselor both accused me of looking for attention and making it up when I told them about my situation. Which I was surprised considering the person who bullied me has bullied other students and causes trouble.

Even though I'm sure no one's middle school experience is supposed to be super amazing, and I wish I could say mine was, but I didn't have the best of years. My problem here isn't with the staff, the teachers and counselors are amazing, and clearly know what they are doing, however my big problem is with the students. I made no new friends until the second semester, the kids are always in cliques. And you could say I'm the problem, but it has never taken me that long to befriend someone new. I dealt with bullying as well this year, despite the school trying their best to handle it. The seemingly light bullying has put me in a point a few times before where I feel sick to my stomach thinking about going to school. The teachers need to learn the difference between joking and just plain rude. If you plan to send your child here, I'd recommend it; as said, there is a greats staff! Just warn your kids about bullying, and how to deal with it, I would give anything If I knew how to do so. Best of luck to you future students.

It has all any child may need to learn for a better future the teachers and principals are very professional. They offer so much and the majority of the children look happy .

Granite Oaks is a wonderful school with a balance between academics and extra-curricular activities. The students, families, and teachers are awesome. Best school ever!

Awesome school! We came to Rocklin specifically for the schools, and we are very happy we did! Great support and communication with teachers. My daughter is in the 7th grade, and has struggled with her grades, but each year they get a little better, I attribute that to her maturing as well, but she loves her teachers because they care and do such a great job! Thanks.

My son transferred mid-year in 8th grade to Granite Oaks Middle School. Like the other parent, I was impressed with how well they buddied him up with other kids on the first day, he is still friends with these kids. In sports there was some problem with exclusion but that was the coaches fault because winning was more important than teaching them the importance of a team. Lot's of the kids grew up together but he still felt like he knew a lot of people by the end of the year. Only issue I had is with a Math teacher that claimed to want to help but in fact did not. She alone made the year a challenge in other ways. The principal should really look at average grades for a teacher and dig deeper on teaching principals and attitude. Otherwise he was well prepared when he finished to start High School and had no apprehension about what it was going to be like.

I love this school. So much. I just graduated and am going to Rocklin High. I was in Key and then Quest Academy, and both had great teachers (except for a certain awful female math teacher who shall remain nameless but I had to have two years in a row because our eighth grade math teacher was arrested.). I loved how the campus was laid out. I'm really going to miss the school. All of my best friends from there are going to Whitney High. But, back to the school. It's fabulous. Send your kids here. Really.

I to feel compelled to offer an alternate view of the mid-year transfer experience at Granite Oaks. We transferred my son into Granite Oaks mid-year after moving from the east coast. The school arranged to have another student show him around and act as a buddy for the first few days to ensure he didn't get swallowed up in the crowd. It was a great experience. My son is not the type to be in cliques so if this was a problem here, we would have experienced it. Every kid is different so maybe the child of the parent below had a different experience, but....I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of the school.
