I cannot say enough great things about The Classical Academy. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure learning is working for every student and parent, in a way that is successful for each child. Learning is really individualized and kids and parents feel like we have some say over our children's education. They do a great job of creating a community and a warm, friendly school environment where parents are always welcome in the classroom, questions are welcomed and the staff truly cares. It has been the most refreshing education experience for our family!

It's week 2 of school and the entire school is a mess. They are very understaffed, and it seems like no one knows what its going on. Also, anyone with a child is allowed to enter the gate at drop off. There is no system in place to ensure that the people entering are classical families. I have expressed concerns about the communication and the lack of support for parents and it has been handled very poorly by leadership.
They are all talk and we will be switching over to Pacific Coast Academy.

I had a lot of issues with their curriculum policy.
The school lets you decide if you want to use their curriculum or if you want to use a different curriculum.
I chose to use my own and save my funds for other things.
They said they would not order the instructional book that I chose because it was something they already have on campus.
So I am not allowed to order a book on its own of something that they already have unless I get it from them in a set which takes up more funds than I want to give. Theyre unwilling to work with you and just say sorry this is our policy. I thought I was joining a school that wants the best for their students and wants to support the parents but this is not what this school is.
Dont be fooled you will go to orientation and they will sell you on how much they work with parents but they dont. No one explains how the funds work so youre left using up all your funds on a curriculum thats not valued at what they charge you for it. Try heritage or PCA instead. PCA gives you double the homeschool funds !

We left Bernardo to come here and wow what a difference. I feel like we are truly in a family of a school and everyone works together. The parents are all like-minded and love to put their all into learning. The teachers are phenomenal. The outlines to assist with learning are spot on as well. Well done TCA!

This is our first year. We love the homeschool aspect along with the enrichment classes our daughter takes 2 days out of the week. We also have the freedom to choose our own curriculum (as long as its approved for standards) and we work at our daughters pace. This school has many opportunities for activities, field trips, and has heavy parent involvement. My daughter LOVES this school! She previously attended a regular public school, and there were too many issues to list here.... she dreaded it, and finally we had enough. We heard about Classical Academy through word of mouth by other parents... the BEST way to know is to hear this way. This is publically funded, tuition-free, award winning, not sure what else I could want.
It does take time since a parent must homeschool 2-3 days per week, but it is more than worth my daughter loving learning. She is excited everyday to do homeschool, and just as excited to go to the campus a few times a week and see her friends. Classes offered are excellent. Teachers are wonderful. I 100% recommend you check this school out!

This is our first year attending. The new location is wonderful! The staff and teachers are all so helpful. I love everything about this school and this blended way of teaching. The curriculum and assignments are easy to follow. My daughter loves going to school twice a week and always looks forward to seeing her teachers and classmates. Every parent I've met and talked to feel the same way I do about The Classical Academy. I would highly recommend this school if you are looking for a blended traditional/homeschool experience.

I want to be clear I'm speaking for the Classical Academy in Vista. While the school itself was somewhat adequate, the teachers didn't seem as involved or close to the kids as they were at Coastal Academy (the sister school in Oceanside). I also felt the kids who attended here were a bit out of control too. They were wild and just all over the place. The thing is that parents volunteer here so if their kids misbehave they kind of get a free pass to still be there and get away with it.
I'd recommend going to Coastal Academy instead. They are stricter with the kids and have better policies and structure to keep the kids in line, but also ensure respect to adults and teachers.

The teachers are wonderful and there are many opportunities to guide your child's education and give them the balance of time with peers. I hoped to make Classical the place where we sent all of our children, and in fact, hope to return someday. However, we have a child diagnosed with special needs (ASD) midway through the school year. The school was simply not as equipped as other public schools to deal with my student's special needs. When there was an incident, my student was sent home. Finally, we were told not to be on campus unless a parent or family was present at all times. Other schools in Escondido train both teachers AND students about autism and make this a part of their overall school culture. I asked if they had a social skills class to help my student learn to understand his peers and was told that there were no other students that age with those special needs. Where were they then? Were they all at home, or like us, did they transfer to a school with more support? I know that it is not fair to ask a school to do everything- be homeschool friendly, special ed friendly, etc..., but I wish that this was made clearer up front.

This is our fifth year at The Classical Academy. Our fourth and second grader are thriving, love to learn, and enjoy the alternating days of on-campus and at-home instruction. I have found the staff to be responsive to any questions I have had. The classroom teachers are helpful, encouraging, and caring. The blend of classroom instruction and homeschooling continues to be an excellent choice for our family.

I have 3 children at this school and they have been attending for the past two years. They all really love it and so do I! They best part is there are so many options to meet the needs of each student. We have tried all tracks: A,B,C and M. At this point I have two on C track and only one of them takes selective classes one day a wk. I also have one on M track. This school meets each child's needs individually. All children don't learn the say way or in the same type of environment so that is why I think TCA works for many families. As a parent you have do have to put in a lot of time teaching your children and volunteering. So it is no walk in the park. You get what you put into it; well adjusted, educated children! Can't beat that, right?!

An awesome pubic school that offers the option to homeschool 100% or 50% of the time, while giving students small traditional classrooms, elective classes, extra curricular sports and activities, and parents hands-on assistance with curriculum. Their Musical Theater program is award-winning. You will not find another school with such a strong parent involvement and a genuine community of teachers, administrators and families that care about education!

When it came time for my son to start kindergarten, I was set on homeschooling him. I was a bit nervous about him not having as much social interaction, though, and a friend of ours told us about her school - The Classical Academy - where we could home school him and still have workshop days with other students in a classroom setting. We researched it, visited the facility and met some of the staff. We were sold. I had found the best solution for my boy and I was very excited to see how it all came together. We have not been disappointed.

I recommend this school to everyone! They partner with parents to provide the best education possible for our kids. Teacher support is always available. My fifth grade son loves The Classical Academy!

My kids have been at this school for 6 years now and we love it. It's the best mix of homeschool and traditional school. At TCA the staff really do care about the families, it really is a great partnership. We love TCA and all they offer and the joy and value they have brought to our family relationships and my kids friendships with students and one another.

Classical Academy has been the best decision we have made as parents. The time we get with our kids is so precious and the school allows us to maximize our time together while still giving them a first class education.

We love our school, there are so many great learning opportunities. The constant availability for growth for my children is amazing.

Great balance between public school and home school. Lots of support and fellow parents who are dedicated to their children's education.

This is our first year at Classical Academy. My son just started Kindergarten and we are loving it! We are on C-Track and my son is also attending the Mini-Kinder program one day a week at the Bear Valley campus. It is a great combination of learning environments-- he gets student interaction in a school setting one day a week as well as individual attention and instruction at home the rest of the week. We are so thankful for the flexibility and creativity that Charter Schools allow, specifically Classical Academy. That it is one of the best schools in the state-- well, lucky for us, we happen to live in Escondido! The staff are encouraging, down to earth and their desire to help us be the best educators we can be really comes across. They are extremely supportive. Next year our son will be able to take C'lectives classes and we are really looking forward to an even greater combination of group classroom settings and home-education. We're so happy and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this great school.

The Classical Academy: My kids ages 14 and 10 have been attending TCA for 3,5 years now. I rate the school very safe. The teachers communicate well with children and parents and answer their emails swiftly. C-Track students have the freedom to choose their own curriculum, the educational specialists are working with you to find the right curriculum for each student and take the preferences of parents into account. I even switched curriculums during the school year with no problems and everything paid for by the state. On track, my kids work independently with the curriculum provided by the school. The curriculum is online and easy to use by the student without parent help. All in all the system is well thought through and the school has great teachers working there.

This school is a perfect fit for our family. Dedicated teachers, awesome staff, and plenty of support for homeschooling. They offer several tracks to fit your child's needs, and there are copious amounts of extra-curricular activities for your child's participation! The parental involvement is second to none. I am on a first name basis with the principal. She is a wonderful asset to the school and very easy to talk to (and always available for concerns). My son has been here since kindergarten, and our goal is to take him all the way through high school with the Classical system.

This is our first year and I couldn't have asked for a better blessing in a school. Even though its a public charter the families that attend seem to all have a common goal in educating their children and raising honorable children. The staff's amazing and always available the class sizes are awesome and Jill McNiff (Kindergarten) couldn't be any better. She LOVES what she does and you can see without even talking to her. You can tell that this is not just a check for her but a passion. From her cute owl curtains, well organized stations in her classrooms to the way she involves the children in day to day classroom "chores" and pays attention to each child's strong suit and plans according for bringing each child's full potential into fruition. I'm having an AMAZING experience so far! And looking forward to my princess being apart of this school for years to come! O, and I appreciate and love the level of communication between parent and teacher. If I ever have a question I've always received an answer almost immediately. Pretty AWESOME!

My daughter had a great kindergarten year. The teachers are excellent and very helpful with helping you to teach your child and make them succeed.

My children have attended K-8 at The Classical Academy. We've stayed for so many years because they've given us to tools to educate our own children, and the support and freedom to educate at home. I can't say enough good things about them.

My daughter attends this school, she enjoys going to school, and loves her teachers too!

This is a great school that offers you the best of home schooling and classroom time. Parents really get the opportunity to be involved. The staff is great. I would highly recommend Classical Academy.

It's an amazing environment where kids take accelerated classes in small classrooms where teachers and students care about each other and there there is little tolerance for things that distract kids from typical high schools.

Classical Academy, Escondido provides students with a top notch education which includes character development and helps them to become thinkers, communicators, and achievers. It has been my school of choice for my kids in their K-8 years since 1999 and my family couldn't be happier with the education our kids have received. Among the factors which make Classical Academy great are outstanding administrators, high quality teachers and staff, and high parent involvement. We love our school!!!

My student attended Kindergarten last year, and I felt very informed and included as a parent. I love that we are given the opportunity to volunteer (almost as a requirement) but also the chance to teach, since this is a charter school. This year, I've found it most difficult to find out what items my child will need for back-to-school. The teachers take the summer off, but until THEY are back in school, I have zero communication with them - which is not advantageous if you're searching for back-to-school sales.

We love our school. It is a great blend of parent involved schooling with faithful guidance from the teachers. I have always considered TCA the wave of the future in education, the exception to every rule. I apperciate the leadership's vision for our school and use of current technology to enhance our children's learning experience. This is our 6th year with TCA and we have be blessed to have found such a school in our area.

We have loved this school since we first heard of it and could not wait for our sons to be old enough to attend. Parent imvolvement is key in a child's life and that is what TCA is all about. Aside from great teachers, we strongly believe that our children thrive in this environment. I would however, love to see TCA win the money for better playground equipment or anything else that resources are low for. :)

This is our first year to homeschool and I am already so impressed with the school! My son is really excited to be homeschooled.

My children attend The Classical Academy and Classical Academy High School. We have had a very positive experience with Classical Academies. The teachers and administrative staff truly partner with parents to support us in providing quality and individual education for each of my children. I have personally benefitted from their knowledge and their vast resources. We also love the extra-curricular activities: field trips, class camps, Biz Town, musical theatre, and more!

Love, love, love TCA! We've been there for 6 years now and it's been such a great experience and my daughter is getting a great education! Thank you TCA!

We LOVE TCA!!! It is such a respectful and nurturing learning environment. This was our first year there and I have to say that it has exceeded our expectations. The teachers are very responsive and available and really have a pulse on each child and where they may be struggling. And I love being such a big part of my sons education. I feel so blessed to be a part of TCA!

This is my second year at TCA and I love it!! It's the perfect balance of homeschool and social interaction of a public school. I was scared to homeschool because I'd never done it before and it seemed so daunting. But, once I got familiar with the setup and the curriculum it became very doable and even fun. I saw my son learn things that just blew my mind. Our conversations are so much richer when we can talk about things he's learning at any time during the day. Plus, my ES (assigned teacher who helps me) was super encouraging and helped me with any questions I had throughout the year. The atmosphere there is great, you feel like kids and parents want to be there and the teachers are super great. We go on field trips almost every month as a family and some with the school. We can take vacations any time of the year and even take some time off when relatives come in town. It's so flexible and enriching that I can't imagine doing it any other way now.
