Principal Giovani great guy hard worker hands on. Staff is great. Sorry to hear principal is leaving, he is leaving big shoes to be filled not an easy job. I'm sure the new principal will do fine with the great staff working there to help.

I completely agree and understand where "a parent" is coming from. My child currently attends Leichman SEC and I must say that the principal Giovanni Trivino is an incompetent, rude and egotistical man who cares little if nothing at all for the students and staff at the school. He has removed all fun activities at Leichman that regular schools enjoy. He aslo called parents who are involved with school site council and want information on the schools budget "disgruntled parents". All I want is for my child to be given the same rights and opportunities as regular ed. students.

I can certainly understand the negative reviews of Leichman Special Ed Center. The current administration has failed this center, its staff, its parents and its students. I have witnessed first hand, rudeness towards parents coming from the current administration. Not to mention how the current administration cancelled all afterschool dances, a weekly afterschool zumba class, and various school fundraisers. The classrooms were stripped of microwave ovens and refrigerators. Cooking classes are no longer allowed. The current administration even went as far as closing the Administrative Assistant's position. The school no longer has a vice principal. The animal area containing chickens, rabbits and ducks was also removed by the current administration. The school yearbook was also cancelled. And even considering the fact that the current principal spent 10 years in the US Army, he also cancelled the morning flag salute over the schools public address system. Honestly. This school aint what is used to be.

My son attended this school for SEVEN years. I can't understand the negative review that was written...especially since the comment of "I'm pretty sure the bruises are coming from frustrated staff" is completely inappropriate. First, don't make statements like that unless you're sure...if you're sure, then there are ways to deal with it. Besides, if you think that's what's happening, then why is your friend's child still attending this school? That makes no sense. The administration and staff are fabulous here. The kids are all treated like 'regular' kids, and their individual needs are gone over every year and goals are adjusted and discussed...they have proms, dances, fund raisers, sports, cheerleading (with real uniforms), field trips, cooking classes, etc. My son thrived here. If there were staff injuring students, it absolutely would not be tolerated. If you're looking for a special high school for your disabled child, this IS the place to have them attend.

A friend of the family has an autistic girl that has unfortunately attended this school most of her life. The girl comes home filthy and with bruises. Whenever the mom has gone to question the state her daughter comes home in she's always told that no one knows. This poor girl has suffered so much. We have personally witnessed her being ok and bruise free during school breaks and then all of a sudden when school starts she magical happens to have bruises. Not tiny bruises, huge bruises that I'm pretty sure happen after getting KICKED by frustrated staff. This school is a shame and horrible place for kids with disabilities. Let me point out that the girl can not talk so of course she has no way of saying who is doing this to her at that place. Horrible and so unfortunate.
