attended only freshman year, the students were horrible towards me. my business was put on blast so many times in that school, the passing of my late best friend was spread around, my problems with substance abuse was spread around, and i was bullied heavily. I would not recommend even for education, the teachers dont teach at the level the students need them to. the staff does nothing to help with the bullying and harassment but rather just let it continue and even hear on the gossip spread around. the students are so entitled and horrible, their parents did horrible jobs raising them. save your childs mental health and find a different school.

Great school, except the fact that there is only one bathroom open at a time EVER and There are 10 boys in there at a Time.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL. They have some of the best Math and English class I have ever seen, they also have amazing business classes. The homework is a bit hard, but nothing I can't handle. The teachers are some of my most favorite teachers EVER. The students are nice and I have not seen too much bullying. The school also has decent diversity.

I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
The first reason is the one that explains why it is 4 stars and not higher. This is because our school's math department is very weak, so if you like math (like me) and want to properly learn it, then maybe look more into this school and others before deciding. Especially since our school still has things to fix, adapt and change.
The second reason explains why it is not any lower than 4 stars. This is because frankly I don't plan on leaving this school for any other one (even for granada hills) because I enjoy being with my classmates and teachers. I wanted to leave so badly at first, but then I started paying attention to my surroundings and noticed that I liked it here and that everyone was trying their hardest to get me to socialize with others and not be alone. Though some teachers and students make me want to bang my head on a table till I bleed, the majority are very kind.
Also, the school isn't like others (I assume), because they don't make you believe that college is your only option.
This could have been just my class year, or my schedule, or the fact that the people I knew were mostly honors students, so it depends on your perspective. It might have just been me, but I consider myself lucky right now (I am still a freshman, but I hope to write another review when I finish 10th grade and see how much has changed).
I hope this review was looked upon as helpful and not as a biased one.

I agree that the teachers are effective because they care about ALL of their students and even move things around to personally help a troubled student. Although I wouldn't say "strongly agree" because this doesn't correspond with EVERY teacher. (But this is at every school, not just here)

Northridge Academy in general tries to make an approach that help students develop the concept that they have a say too. The teachers help students get along with one another and to respect one another. Hence why I felt closer to my classmates than I had ever felt with anyone else in my past school years and that was only by the end of the first semester in 9th grade. (You also have to take into account the fact that because it is small you see the same classmates in more classes than usual)

We have leadership conduct our orientations and school events as well as sessions during advisory. They try their hardest to make the students feel welcome and safe. (But it also depends on the student's open mindedness)

I am not aware of this portion of Northridge Academy. Though, I do know that in advisory (homeroom) we had talked about bullying, how to identify it, and had people share stories about their own experiences.

All of the teachers are really nice and serious about their jobs. The kids there are nice and I love how it's a smaller school

I am a long time parent at this school and will have had 4 students graduate as of 2017. We had our first two attend Granada Hills thinking "wow, what opportunities at a huge school" and we quickly realized that this was a school that only cared about test scores, not kids. Too much competition for sports and academics if you are planning to get into a good school, however at NAHS you can shine and be in many teams and leadership and have a VERY high class standing. Imagine how that looks on your application. Colleges don't care where you went to high school they care abt. GPA and extra-curricular activities. My kids have taken AP's and honors classes and have done very well.They are in the drama productions which are wonderful too.They have also been on sports teams that do well in their division. I also like the fact they are on the CSUN campus as that allows them to utilize the library and see amazing productions at CSUN by just walking over. This is by no means a perfect campus, but as a comparison to Granada and the lack there I feel that this is the better choice. I know the teachers and feel they are good. I also like the non-bulling atmosphere, the kids seem nice.
