Liberty is the BEST elementary in the district. Located in San Miguel Ranch which is a quick shot to Navy Bases, this school reflect the community involvement. The Parent Association is top notch with a very high level for support in the arts as they are the very few schools that put on a full blown musical with the kids from all ages. They offer dual immersion and the teachers are fantastic. Coming from a non Spanish speaking household, my kids are fluent in Spanish for reading and writing. Even when my daughter chose not to continue Spanish in high school, she was able to still score a 5/5. This school is a stepping stone for the Eastlake Middle and Eastlake High School and I know some may not see the long term path, but it is the TRIFECTA for the best schools for the College Preparatory. The Elementary school years are key for social, emotional, and friendships. The new Principal is amazing and there are many long term teachers at this school who are the backbone for a supportive experience. Liberty is a reflection of a wonderful community and it is intimate enough for the kids to all thrive and be kids.

I was a past student here and it was the best experience I have ever had. The teachers were great, students were friendly and overall a great and fun school.

My child has attended this school since kindergarten and is in the dual immersion program. I have been disappointed overall, I would think they would be taught more well rounded subjects and how to speak fluently learning more vocabulary. They have learned very little history (all have been focused pretty much around the same subjects very year), they have learned little to no geography or grammar. They spend even less time on English grammar (which is important to learn as well as the Spanish). They push programs like Achieve vs and iReady too much in place of learning where kids are doing them during class and at home. During class time teachers should be focused on teaching and finding more engaging and creative ways of teaching. Not putting kids in front of a computer. They can do that online anytime/home. They should not be using class time for that. A lot of pressure is put on kids to hit a certain lexicile score and if not met they are just assigned more and more of the online articles and online assignments vs working with the child to see why they are scoring low and helping them. They are only concerned with getting high scores to look good and try cheating the system by forcing kids to do a ridiculous amount of extra article s when they get a low score. Achieve is a horrible program they questions rarely make sense (even teachers have agreed when we have brought up in conferences). But teachers are forced to do it and spend XX amount of time on it. I would rather my child spend time reading books then spending so much time in these online programs. The Spanish articles are too advanced and filled with words the kids have never been exposed to. But the only metric used to measure is Achieve. Don't expect anything different as this school is not creative or thinks out of the box. they are status quo. I am thinking of switching schools.

My two children have attended this school since Kindergarten. The dual immersion program is top notch and rigorous. They are now in third and fifth grade and they speak, read and write Spanish very well.
The school itself and the parents are welcoming and encourage family participation. I enjoyed being on the Parent Teacher Committee for a few years and felt that it was a collaborative, team effort to provide a great school experience for the kids and their families.

The teachers my children have had have been supportive and in tune with my child’s needs and if there is a concern, they address it right away.

We love Liberty Elementary.

10/10 I loved everything about this school. My children were happy and thriving. Plenty of volunteer opportunities for parents. Welcoming environment! Teachers are dedicated and take pride in their students’ achievements. This school is definitely all around a 10/10.

Great school with a lot of extra activities for students and parent involvement. Monthly family reading program, parents are welcomed on campus, teachers seem caring & involved. VAPA program so students are exposed to art, music, dance. Love that they are growing dual immersion program.

Reading through all of these comments, it is apparent that a lot has changed along the way, even the principal. I am not familiar with the school's historical performance, but I am extremely impressed with their current state. Mr. Grisier has consistently displayed enthusiasm and genuine concern about the school and all of the students within. I have one child in the Spanish dual immersion program, and though I am not fluent myself, his progress these last two years in the program is so impressive that I will be enrolling my youngest child who starts Kindergarten next year.

To be fair and honest, I am not fond of the drop off/pick up situation, as I often have to park down the hill in an adjacent neighborhood to pick up. One idea would be to use the front loop for the younger students (current placement of classrooms would support this), and the back loop for the older students (obvious exceptions for families with multi-aged children). If a separate driveway could be constructed for the back loop, the congestion might diminish.

The Dual Language Immersion program requires a lot of homework from the students, which is extremely difficult for the children and their parents in the younger grades (K - 3).

Excellent public school. Dynamic and dedicated teachers. Strong parent support. My kids are in the Spanish dual immersion program here at Liberty. They started here in kinder and are thriving. We hesitated in selecting the dual immersion program because we are not native Spanish speakers. We worried we wouldn't be able to provide adequate at-home support. But the teachers know many parents are not Spanish speakers. Homework generally comes home with instructions in English. If you're hesitating about trying the dual immersion program, don't. Your children will be exposed to another language, another culture, and still more than master all the fundamentals in English. This is a no-brainer. Excellent school, extraordinary teachers, dedicated principal. Thank you Liberty!

I have 2 kids that are school age. 1 is 11 months (this doesn't pertain to him) one is 8 - in 3rd grade and the oldest is 11 and in 6th. My 11 year old has downs syndrome and this school was terrible for him. School or rather the district seems to care more about money then programs, or properly training their staff, (under paid and lack of experience) Though they tried to assist to his needs they are just not equipped which is not beneficial for my son. However my 3rd grader is doing well. Aside from the common core standards (that i don't care for) the teacher herself - Mrs Walbanks is a great teacher. Very relaxed atmosphere and is a kind person. Though she does have clear expectations of the children which i really like. I rank a 2 star because of their lacking in the special education programs.

Great school. Son is in first grade and making great academic progress. He has attended since kindergarten, transferred to school mid year and transitioned smoothly since the first day. Awesome!!!!! School is fun for my son who also enjoys the different classroom activities incorporating the different celebrations observed throughout the year. Son participates in before and after school programs, both on campus and off, and we have not had any issues. My son's teachers have been extraordinary and the friendly office staff much appreciated.

I was reading some of the reviews and usually don't write them online, but i think for the parents that wrote about the discrimination issues for the non hispanic children that they need to take a closer look at the school this year. My son started Kinder this year and is loving it, the class is mixed and well balanced his teacher is phenomenal, very involved and caring. Also his classroom as blocks and other toys for them to play with it is very colorful and inviting. The parents are all very friendly and when it comes to getting the children ahead of the learning curve i am impressed with the quality of materials and amount they learn in a almost playful way very quickly. His teachers approach on the curriculum is extraordinary and i have to say school has changed a lot since my time but i am very impressed with the staff, leadership and their academic programs that give all students a chance to learn at a pace that is exeptional
