As a parent at Arroyo Vista for the last 12 years on school of choice I can tell you that Arroyo Vista is amazing! My children have all had great academic achievement and are prepared for high school and beyond. The teachers are caring and are skilled professionals. The active parents, PTA, and WatchDog program all deepen the feeling of community. Middle school can be a tricky time in a childs life, but the staff and community at Arroyo Vista care about academic excellence, nurturing each childs strengths, and getting students ready for success!

This school is not great. There is many cliques of kids that bully others. Some kids are very dramatic and threaten others. Many kids caping and using the bathrooms as a hangout place. Overall the school is not a good influence for your child. Unless you are rich, wear nice clothes, and are rude to others you will not fit in. There are many instances of bullying and the parents even got involved to further bully the child. The principal does nothing and the assistant principal is left with all the work. School didnt get cancelled when there was a gun threat. The principal even threatens to call the police on kids who were doing nothing wrong. My child will not be attending here next year.

Great K-8 school. The teachers and the staff really care for the students and the PTA there is amazing. I was a little worried that this school is relatively smaller (total ~600 students for all k-8) than the other elementary and middles schools nearby and with my kids going into the large high school (~1800 kids) after this school, I was worried that they would get overwhelmed but Arroyo Vista really prepared them academically to thrive at that next level.

Both of my boys attended Arroyo Vista Middle School (2004- 2009) and grew academically, socially, emotionally and physically. They were prepared to meet the challenges of high school and now college.

Do you have an academically average or high child, the school is for you. If your child struggles
academically, I would go elsewhere. The school caters to stay at home parents. Any committees that you want to be on meet during the school day and not in evenings to accommodate working parents whom like to participate.

I believe that theres a lot of pressure from parents on the admins at the school.

They do not offer any interventions to kids who are struggling. They have to be on an IEP in order to get support in the classroom.

Students spread rumors constantly and the parents join in on the bandwagon. Even after many conversations with the administration, its still rampant.

This school makes great use of its public school funding to keep PE and music on campus. It''s a Blue Ribbon school , and the school size is small.

My daughter attended Arroyo Vista Elementary and graduated to middle school this year. The leadership is excellent and the teachers very dedicated. Academically, my daughter thrives and enjoys learning. Couldn't be happier!
