DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE! Trust me, this school is not worth it. Almost all of the students are in groups and would not allow any new kids here.
I've seen my classmates ditch a newbie, just because they are a new kids at Carl Hankey. And don't even get me started with favoritism, it is a trend here at Carl Hankey. Especially the teachers, and the student counsel! They reward the lazy kids while they punish the kids who are actually engaging in class. Unless you want your kid to be bullied constantly, and be ignored by teachers, don't send them to this school. P.S The kids here do much worse I can't even mention.

This school is AMAZING! I have never seen more engaged kids in a classroom ever. They are SO eager to learn, almost hungry for the roots of their futures. As for the teachers, the passion they have in what they do is out of this world, genuinely. The future of the world is sincerely in their hands. The kids are kins towards one another, respectful, and look out for eachother. As a student, I have bounced around schools, and no school besides this one has caught my attention.

Since the day my son came here in the 3rd grade, he's loved it. All the teachers supported him throughout, and he made great friends on the first day. What they were teaching was ahead of the other schools, and I would rank it (personally) the #1 school in the entirety of OC! In the middle school, it only got better. Although some fights broke out, the school always contained them and protected the kids, consequencing them rightly. Their math programs were far ahead of what you would expect in a middle school, in his final year taking geometry. Overall, I must say this school is a must-go for your children if you want a safe and fun learning environment.

This school is not the best. There are kids vaping in the bathroom and no one does anything about it. A kid brought a knife to school and they did nothing about it. They keep adding bogey rules instead of focusing on main problems

The staff does a good job, altering bulling and encouraging positive behavior on and off-campus.

I couldn't be happier. I am looking forward to more Middle school events. I just wish I wasn't so busy to get involved with the school. That is my parent's goal, to give back to the Hawk community (k-8)!

Decent amount of homework and projects. If your student needs help with any of the assignments, the staff are there to help.

Strict enough to keep students that slack off in check and very knowledgeable. They care about the student's progress and ability to follow distractions. I wish my middle school teachers were this engaged. Grate job Cark Hankey Middle School Teachers!

Yes! I strongly agree. These students are growing into young adults and as parents know it, pre-teens - can be a handful. The staff here does a good job addressing any issues and navigate the students to becoming a well-rounded individual. But of cousre, the practices done at school should be followed by the parents/gardians at home to succeed.

Yes, the school's leadership is evident through the staff, students, and community.

Yes, there are times when students fall behind, not sure why. A distraction or just having trouble comprehending the subject, the stuff is there to help with any learning difficulties.

We are new to this school this year. I am so incredibly impressed at how wonderful this school really is. The teachers are fantastic and so caring. My son is struggling in math - and his math teacher helps him twice a week during his lunch break! How caring is that! The principal is fantastic. She is so hands on and her door is always open. She is always walking around the school and knows the kids by name. The school is completely organized and structured and everything is in control and calm environment. There is really no chaos anywhere. Whenever you leave a message or email for the principal - she calls you back in seconds. This school outshines any school we have attended so far and wish we had been here the entire time. It is such a nice and warm community and the kids, staff and parents are fabulous. If you can get into this school through open enrollment I HIGHLY recommend it. We couldn't be a happier Carl Hankey Family.

There has been a lot of upheaval in the administration of this school in the past couple of years. The principal tried to introduce an International Baccalaureat program, which was not funded by the school district. Extensive fund raising was required. The school is an "IB candidate" school at this time, i.e. the IB program is not yet accredited. The 6th grade schedule now includes two periods a day of English and in some cases 2 periods a day of Math. This means that the Science, Social Science, Foreign Language, PE and are only taught on alternating weeks (therefore, half the material can be covered). Instrumental Music has to be taught before school or after school, and only 3 days a week. Further, the Principal suddenly resigned in January, with no explanation. There are some very good teachers. I advise you to think carefully before sending your kids here. I am not comfortable with the way that the current schedule sacrifices many of the subjects required for a well-rounded education.

I have two sons, one in first & one in fifth. It is our first year at Carl Hankey Elementary and it is a truly a great school. The teachers are excellent at what they do. The principal is Dr. Wilbur and he gives his students, parents, and staff 150% You can tell when someone truly cares and he does.
