Absolute and total incompetence. Avoid at all costs.
They'll sign up your child and demand their tuition, but God forbid you need help, because then they'll send you to "info@nuvhs.org" who will the refer you to "scs@nu.edu", who will usually the refer you to the registrar's office, who will refer back to the original email.

Thier online portal uses discontinued Adobe Flash, the online textbooks are routinely unaccessible, and you'll never see your kid's diploma (still waiting for ours after they keep us caught in emailing other people in typical "pass the buck" fashion.

My opinion: put your kid in a real online school. This one is inept.

Clearly, I can appreciate how parents may have had a particular issue with a course/teacher or whatever the mindset. To be blunt, the support and attention my son received, from Britton Z. is Top-Tier! Basically, I get that the virtual learning method is unusual and clearly requires additional focus regarding the students effort. However, the reality is that NUVHS is supported by caring, professional and knowledgeable teachers in the subjects/courses offered. I will certainly recommend NUVHS as an additional go-to resource for completing High School diploma requirements. Keep up the good work Team NUVHS!

In advance, because of our overall experience and value with NUVHS, I will certainly recommend and re-enroll our family members with the NUVHS academic program. Understandably, I can appreciate how other parents/students have had particular issue(s) with NUVHS. To be blunt, the virtual curriculum is definitely an orientation for my son as I’m thinking it will likely be the same for other students. My son, Thomas, is a Senior high school student taking a course for the first time at NUVHS. The support we received from Angela P. regarding timely email reply’s to resolving course/enrollment assistance has definitely earned our loyalty to NUVHS. Most importantly, the NUVHS Admin team is attentive and eager to support my son’s personal academic goals.

Our son was given only 3 days to complete 2 units of Health class and he completed nearly all of the work. That was not an easy task. This email is to whomever is in charge of the virtual high school. We contacted the school and begged for an opportunity to finish what our son had started and has been working so hard to complete.

On May 18th, we were contacted by our son's English 10 teacher who told us that he could pass his class. She was locking him out of his class and he would have to re-enroll. Teachers lock units and students can not access their work until the teacher unlocks a new unit. I asked her to see if there was any way our son could continue the class and she asked me to contact the curriculum director. I immediately contacted this person but did not hear back from her until Thursday, May 21. The curriculum director at first stated that our son would have to repeat both his English 10 class and his Health class. She then stated that our son would be given a one time chance to complete his Unit 5 and Unit 6 portions of his Health class, but it had to be completed by Sunday, May 24. As of Thursday at 12:15 pm, I contacted the curriculum director to see if she could assist us in getting our son access to Units 5 and 6 for his Heath class. His teacher had not unlocked the units and he could not access the work. He was not given access until Friday. Please note, that this is a student who is behind on his work and he is given less time to complete his work or he will be kicked out of his Health class (students usually have 7 days to do the work). He had already been kicked out of his English class. I had told the school that our son had a 504 due to his hearing loss and he had extended time as an accommodation.

This did not follow the intent of his 504 nor was it even were fair, he should be given the same amount of time as everyone else. We are very, very unhappy with our experience with your school. Our son has worked harder than we have ever seen him work. It is hard to gauge the response of your teachers or curriculum director. It does not feel that your organization wants to help students be successful by helping time to learn, get organized, and work with them to be successful. It is one thing to say you do, but actions speak louder than words.

My son was given 3 days to complete 2 units of work which are supposed to have 7 days to complete. When the school did not like his finished work, they failed him.

The teachers seem to be looking for a reason to fail students and then suggest that they repeat the course or class.

I would love to say that this school teaches students that it is never too late to learn, but that is not the case. Telling a student that if their grade is 49% that they are being kicked out of the class is not teaching them to work hard to overcome obstacles.

The curriculum director at first told us our son was not going to be allowed to complete his class, then she gave him only 3 days to do the work that should be done in 7 days. When he did not do 100% of the assignments, they failed him and leadership just suggests that we re-enroll him.

Our son has a 504 with accommodations due to his physical disabiltiy. We informed the school that he has extended time as an accommodation but the school ignored this and failed him.

There is no Bullying because all courses are on line and the instructor is monitoring everything all the time.

My instructors were good leaders, they were there when I needed them. I always contacted my instructors directly, I never called by my instructors were really helpful.

The teachers at National University Virtual High School were always making sure I was learning and doing my work. I'm a procrastinator but they pushed me and guide me to success.

This is a great school, I was able to take 2 courses and complete them on time for my second semester. I took Spanish 3A and my instructor was very helpful, I also took Calculus and my instructor Marianne was the best. I recommend this school to anyone willing to learn and work.

This school is seriously horrible. First of all, no one answers the phone, so if you have a question, you need to leave a message and hope someone calls you back when you are available. If you are not available, you have to call back and leave another message. Very frustrating. My daughter was enrolled in Spanish 3 and despite the fact that she is a straight A student, she had a hard time figuring out their website. Another attempt to call for help, but once again, had to leave a message. We kept getting emails stating that she hadn't logged in yet, however she had been logged in for 5 hours at that point. When I finally got a hold of someone in the office, they told us that she had to email her instructor for help. The communication between the school and the student is horrible. We ended up dropping the class and enrolling in BYU virtual high school and have had an incredible experience. When I asked for a refund, I was told it was too late to get one. She never even turned in one assignment and they kept my money!! Run as fast as you can away from this "school".

The teacher are incredibly effective, a personal message I sent to Mrs. Ericsson include my praise for her as a teacher in gratitude for her going out of her way to help students understand the material and give life to a passion of art. She was a very proactive teacher.

I was a student for Mrs. Ericsson's Art Foundations B class. It was a truly amazing experience. The class provided a vast insight on art elements, properties, and aesthetic in general. Not only did it teach the individual factors that go into art, but it provided a cultural insight going to art forms from across the globe and also brought up art forms that were more than the conventional paintings. It helped me so much learn about the different media in art, and taught me to appreciate art in a new perspective. Mrs. Ericsson as teacher did a fantastic job. She helped me throughout the course by answering my questions via email, and she guided me in the right direction helping me gain a better understanding. Mrs. Ericsson breathed life into this class by being more than a person who gave grades, she was a mentor to me and I have not found anything similar in previous online courses that were not on NUVHS. The care and attention that she provided inspired me to keep going and do my best in her class. I have grown as an independent learner, and have learned a vast amount of knowledge in art. Additionally my skills as an artist have increased through the knowledge and activities I have gained throughout this course. I am extremely grateful for this course, and would recommend any person interested in gaining knowledge about art to take this course, it is an enlightening experience.

NUVHS- was a great experience for my son. While it was challenging to get the class paid for and started our teacher, Ms Erikson was very responsive and helpful in getting through the class. My son is a procrastinator but she really encouraged him and got him finished on time. We plan to do the second semester soon.

We are in the middle of an extremely frustrating process trying to deal with an unresponsive instructor, answering machines, administrators who don't return emails, and a very frustrated, high-achieving high school student. I have spent hours over the past week, trying to get someone to let us know how to proceed.

I'm doing a history summer school course with NUVHS and I'm not very impressed. The instructor is okay and all but when I signed up they made it sound like a no big deal, not too demanding, not going to suck up all your time, kinda class. It's not like that at all. I have found it to be at least three times the work as in-class summer school coerces I've taken before. I'm most disappointed because the work load was so heavy I probably won't be able to finish even one semester, a total waste of time and money. If you're deciding between in-class and online summer school, I recommend in-class.

The school is a NIGHTMARE to deal with. Will not return calls. No real people who can talk with you. Voicemail boxes full. No evidence of competent administration. Seems like a fly by night operation. BEWARE!
