former student here in my experience a terrible school because 1st counselors would not help you when you are being targeted by other students when being bullied.2nd I some teachers would raise their voice at other students even if they mess up on something little.Last teachers would not do anything about bullying that's because I had one my T-shirts thrown to the ceiling in P.E by another kid for no reason and no did nothing about it

worst school ever. the kids are mean and cruel and they bully a lot and also cyberbully. the teachers don’t care and I will NOT recommend this for any child !!

Terrible experiences over and over again. There are teacher’s who care and they’re probably the only good aspect but most good teachers are leaving soon. The office administrators are just awful if you got a problem they act as thought they are working with you to solve it but nothing ever gets solved. Bullied and retaliate? Get 3days off while attacker gets expelled 2 weeks. Get bullied constantly? Will have many office visits with little help with the actual problem. Honestly if you’re looking for a school that actually considers your child or you as a person who genuinely needs help then this is not it . You and your child will get shut down repeatedly and your time and effort will be treated as air.

Not very great. My first year at this school was terrible. Way too many fights, drugs, and violence. If you have innocent children, do not send them here.

One reason why I love Fleming so much is that every teacher on my team every year has impressed me. We are constantly learning and sharing best practices. We support each other and inspire each other to do our best.

Homework tends to vary depending on the teacher and subject. I have definitely scaled back on the amount of homework because we are moving toward mastery-based grading.

As a teacher, I can tell you that I try to do this every day. However, middle school is a difficult time of life. Not every student learns honesty, integrity, and fairness in their teens. My former students that I see have definitely exhibited these qualities, though.

I could choose to teach at any school, but I have loved teaching at Fleming for the past 15 years. Reading these negative reviews breaks my heart. I live in Torrance, so my own kids go to Torrance schools, but I am always amazed by the fantastic teachers, programs, facilities, and technology we have at Fleming that I haven't seen at my own children's schools. For instance, we are continuously working to find more ways to make our school a better experience for students. Under the leadership of our administration, we take time to plan, reflect, and learn new strategies on a regular basis. Teachers each belong to a committee to actively plan and implement programs for our staff and students such as: awards and incentives, technology integration, and 8th grade activities. The only reason I didn't give our school 5 stars is because dealing with our negative reputation and students who perpetuate that reputation can be exhausting. I have had the privilege of having wonderful, caring, creative, hardworking, and intelligent students. Of course not every student is an ideal student, but I would find that at any school. If you could see our Sir Alex Awards, where the administration literally rolls out a red carpet and hands out golden statuettes to Principal's Honor Roll students, I truly believe you would be impressed. We also have an impressive Magnet program, Mesa Club, Robotics, Journalism, Horticulture, CJSF Honor Club, Drumline, after school sports, 5K Club, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and a dance team that has won NATIONAL competitions. Trust me, we are so much more awesome than these terrible reviews from disgruntled former students and parents of students who had a bad experience.

This is the worst school I have ever experienced in my life and I am 55 yrs. old. Teacher's, counselors, principal, no one is concerned or cares. Horrible, my daughter was bullied big time, There were students who were gang members. I moved her asap to a charter school and that was the best decision I ever made. She went onto a academic preparatory high school she is now graduating and have been accepted to over 10 Colleges. That was 7 years ago. today the comments are still the same, sad. I understand they have a lot to deal with but they are missing out on a lot of talented and bright kids who can make something of their life, if only this school can recognize that.

Don't send your child to this school. Worst mistake I ever made in my life. There are very little teachers that are caring and helpful. The counselor, has no input on issues you address and good luck getting a hold of the principle. The vice principal mistakes kids for others and provides incorrect. If you your child is having issues with his/her academics you wont be advised.

The staff cares less about the students. Its more a job than a school where you care for the children that attend. There are very few teachers there that care and help the kids with their struggles. There is a disconnect with the principal and the vice principal. Horrible place.

I will say very invective because there are only a few that are good teachers. There others are running their own agendas stressing these kids out their mind. Teach them don't make their life harder at this age. TEACH..... They have these interactive folders that make no sense to me. They get all trashy because of the paperwork they add to it. Not all children learn the same. These interactive notebooks might be useful for some students but not all.

I don't know why people say it's a bad school there aren't that many fights and I haven't seen one in a semester and the kids there are the best even the eight grader. Also the teachers and counselors are like friends to me . People only fail because there lazy. Any class can be passed with effort kids that won't even run at P.E are the kids that destined them selves to fail in life.

Actually I don't know why people give this school so much trash. Maybe because it's an lausd school and lausd isn't as good as Torrance? But still people say oh yeah there's like fights every week or so but I haven"t seen or heard of one for more than a semister and that's actually good. Also the counselors, teachers, and even all of the students are friendly. People say teachers don't care there but the teachers are the coolest people I actually feel like I'm friends with them and not just another person off the street. The counselors are cool too they will talk with you about anything you want and seem to care about all of your worries and needs. Finally the students there are friendly I know I'm young going to the school as a seventh grader but i have not met a single kid that I couldn't become friends with. Freak even the eighth graders love me they take me under their wing and show me the ropes of the school. And the only problems with the kids is the laziness I can tell you any class can be passed with effort. But those kids are so lazy tea don't even pass the simplest class p.e. Because they don't want to run so ignore what the page says it's a good school.

Honestly..PLEASE dont send your kids here. The principal has no control. Staff unhappy, etc. If you dont believe me when school lets out walk in front of the school. Drugs, gangs, etc. NO minority teachers that can relate to the kids in the community.

It's a horrible school. The kids run rampant, with no supervision. They have no respect for anyone. They run loose on the school field, throw trash and pine cones at the neighboring houses around the school and ruin their property. They play these horrible drums a few times a week and disturb the whole neighborhood. That school and all the students are nothing but a nuisance. The administration doesn't do anything about their horrible behavior and don't care if they ruin people's property. How can the students learn anything when all they do is run loose, destroy people's property and play drums and wreak havoc! Why are there pine trees near a public school of any kind, whoever planted those was not a smart person. All the trees do is make a mess in the neighbors yards and drop hundreds of pine cones and the unruly students use them as weapons. What a disgrace to the neighborhood!!
