A Hidden South Bay Gem in El Camino Village!

Mark Twain Elementary here in the El Camino Village is truly amazing. The teachers, principal and staff are all supportive and communicate with families. They use the app called ParentSquare, plus text and email, so it’s easy to stay in the loop.

El Camino Village is a close knit neighborhood parents know each other, which makes the school feel extra safe and friendly. It’s got that real community vibe where families look out for each other and kids grow up in a great environment.

I am very happy with the dual immersion program, ELAC (English learner advisory committee) is always improving and providing different resources to their students. The school has a positive environment, my son loves gardening and Makerspace, and I enjoy all the school events.

There is no possible way this review will give the justice that the staff of Mark Twain via webform. We purchased the neighborhood for this district and boy were we glad we did! Houses are a dime a dozen but, quality public education is not something we would not compromise on.

I highly suspect any negative reviews are stemming from parents who really didn't like the inclusion for all that this wonderful elementary school strives to achieve!

This school is filled with bully teachers who don't care about their students mental state and more of whats coming into their allowance. I have experienced many ADULTS watch and allow bullying happen with several students. Is that what you call character building ? Or is this what you call being CRUEL. Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE. Are the unfortunate and heartbreaking amount of events that take place within schools not enough to show you that there may be a problem with the staff themselves? Or how about self harm amongst children ages 6+ has risen since the pandemic. BE BETTER PEOPLE. Mark Twain STAFF be BETTER. When I was younger and attended Mark Twain, I watched children get harassed and bullied by teachers who didn't and still don't have the heart to realize that these individuals were coming from either poor environments or mental instabilities. I personally had to experience a teacher tell a student that they will grow up to become a "McDonalds worker". Keep in mind this was told to a 8 YEAR OLD CHILD!!!! How much discouraging could that possibly get. Unfortunately, Mark Twain continues to surprise me every single year. TO THIS DAY, NOTHING HAS CHANGED. I had to watch a child get yelled at BY the teacher herself in front of the entire class and sit back and allow other students to yell and harass the student all as one. Literally nothing has changed and I feel so much sympathy for those who are attending Mark Twain and are experiencing this. If there are no consequences and things don't change for the better- and I mean full 360, I WILL bring this to social media. Keep in mind I have a VERY high platform of 100k followers and I have not one bone in me that wishes to not do otherwise. I have video recording of teachers harassing these children and I've had enough. It's absolutely sickening. People need to know what is really going on at Mark Twain. Staff, these are your students, the future generation. You choose this path to guide them to be the best possible. Not to put them down. FIX THIS!!!!!!! I'd give Mark Twain an absolute ZERO ratting if I could.

My daughter just graduated from the MT Spanosh Immersion program. This school is a jewel in the South Bay. There has been a large turn over in Principals, and never underestimate the value of a good Principal, and the present one is much better than the last one mostly due to more experience. Our daughter has spent the last 6 years learning in Spanish about 95% of the time. It gradually increases English learning, but even with the high ratio of Spanish learning, it has never effected her State wide test scores as she tests extremely high. I credit the excellent teachers.
