Ive been in the Conejo Valley for almost 40 years and only recently have I had the privilege of being apart of Bridges Charter School. My grandsons are in the Pre-K and Kindergarten programs and thriving in their academic and social growth. Im in awe of their teacher's gentleness, patience, and commitment to growing their little minds. Im able to see this first hand as I have been welcomed on campus to volunteer weekly and share in this special season of my grandchildrens life.

Both of my children started at Bridges this year in TK and K and it has been such a wonderful experience. The teachers truly go above and beyond and make it special for the children. During the first week, if your child is having difficulty adjusting, parents are allowed to stay. Ive never heard of a school doing this before. This stood out to me because it really showed how much they care and support about the emotional well-being of the child. They also encourage parents to volunteer and there is no time limit like in traditional public school. I love that I am able to be part of my childrens education as well as being able to see the dynamics of the classroom firsthand. The campus is beautiful. Every door is painted and there are multiple gardens all over campus. It really creates such a happy environment for the students. I love this school and I am so grateful that we started our education here I would choose Bridges again in a heartbeat.

We are so fortunate to have found this school. They have helped my neurodivergent child tremendously. His teacher is so patient and kind and he feels safe and loved there. Everyone, parents and staff alike, are so wonderful and come together as a community, even the older kids are so great with the littles. We love Bridges!

Bridges has been an incredible place for my kids to thrive! I have 2 children currently enrolled, one who heavily uses accommodations for both ADHD and Autism, and one who while neurotypical, still feels free to go and utilize the mental health office when she needs additional support! Both my 9 year old daughter, and 13 year old son are excited to go to school EVERY SINGLE DAY. The teachers are so passionate about what they are doing, and the admin is structured in such a way, that needs are met at all levels, from social/emotional support, to discipline and boundary enforcement when necessary. They have 3 dedicated special education teachers, as well as a full SEL curriculum that isn't just doled out on a need basis, SEL pushes in to every classroom, and I love that regulation skills are taught to everyone, not just those who "need" it! With Lobby Guard, and a buzzer system, I feel like my children are safe, and the staff all take great care when it comes to their safety and overall well being. Even with ALL of that, I think my favorite thing is how many opportunities I have to be involved on campus. I can work directly with kids in the class helping with core subjects every single week, or I can jump in to the many school events, like Fun Run and carnival. I also love being able to bring my own passion for performing arts into volunteering with that group on campus! Bridges has been instrumental in partnering with my family to make school and home cohesive. I know whats happening everyday, am engaged with their peers, and am in direct communication with their teachers regularly. I'm so grateful to have found such a wonderful school, that feels more like a partner in growing a passion for learning, than an institutional building I just send my kids to everyday.

Bridges doesn't set their students up for a successful transition to middle or high school. Their "whole child approach" is a disguise for low academic standards and as a result students are overwhelmed when transitioning.

Bridges Charter claims to be a school based on a 'whole child' philosophy but has had many changes in leadership and now provides a very hollow education. What is done in the classroom is dominated by language arts and mathematics instruction that seems geared towards getting the kids to pass state testing. So a lot of workbook pages, a lot of drilling.....and little in terms of projects or any sort of inspiring instruction. There is not much time left for science, history, art of anything else. They also do a lot of testing throughout the year beyond the mandated state testing and don't seem to do much of anything with the results. They do NWEA testing in the fall, winter and spring and each time it sucks up a 1/3 or of the school time for one week. They also do additional testing in language arts, again, in the fall, winter and spring. None of is required by the state/county, its just a form of torture for the students.

Bridges also does not help their high achieving students. There is no gate program in elementary and no effort is made to provide students with greater challenges. Their middle school program is very small (around 30~40 students per grade) so doesn't offer honors classes and likewise makes no effort with high achieving students. Overall we have just been very disappointed with academics at Bridges and regret enrolling.

On the social front the situation at Bridges is better but can also has some issues. The school encourages parent volunteers and there is a clique of very involved parents, many of the staff and teachers also have children at the school and this creates an environment of nepotism. The children with connected parents always seem to get preference, preference in school activities like performing arts, preference in the class room and preference when any conflict between the kids occurs. The only positive aspect of Bridges is that there aren't many issues with bullying and the school seems to provide a better environment for kids that may have struggled socially at other schools. But this seems mostly achieved by having adults breathing down the kid's necks so I'm not sure what happens when the kids move on.

Lastly, the school is constantly asking for money/donations and doesn't provide much in terms of classroom supplies.

I'm a longtime educator and parent of three kids at Bridges Charter ranging from TK to 8th grades - one in the school site program and two in the charter homeschool program. We moved from our neighborhood schools to attend Bridges because of the innovative, nurturing, and creative environment and the school's ability to meet students where they are and really personalize their educational experience based on how they learn best. Our child in the school site program has hands-on learning experiences and is excited to go to school everyday. The learning is developmentally appropriate and engaging. The homeschool program is such an important and needed option for so many children with different learning styles and needs. We have watched our child go from never wanting to go to school to flourishing in the homeschool environment and being excited to go to campus twice a week for the most engaging enrichment classes like science/STEAM, yoga, art, music, and studying nature. The homeschool teacher team guides and supports you and your child through the process and the additional opportunities for park meet ups and field trips are wonderful. The Special Education department and School Psychologist are not only knowledgable and supportive, but truly care about the whole child. I can not recommend this school enough. We love being a part of the Bridges Charter community!

We are a part of the homeschool hybrid program at Bridges. It is the best decision we made! The teachers are all amazing and my daughter is so exciting for her on campus classes! The support of the guiding teacher has been extremely helpful. Everyone is so nice and caring. I couldnt ask for a better situation!

I have two students at Bridges and both love it so much! We moved over from our neighborhood school in our town several years ago and have not looked back! Something I love about the school is the way they truly encourage family participationthey welcome parents/caregivers on their campus. The social-emotional component of their program is unmatched! They truly meet the children/families where they are at. Our only regret is not finding them sooner!!

My boys were students at Bridges from the very beginning of its foundation. My review is based on that experience.
However, I can speak of the hard work that special people like Ms. Cindy do to make this school a safe haven for young minds to expand their growth, academically and socially; explore their talents and cultivate a sense of belonging while at the same time contributing to a larger community.
Teachers, staff, parents, and students would work together and truly build community within the school as well as out.
A community where, even after years of not attending Bridges, we feel are still a part of, thus the reason for me sharing now. Here, students would get the tools to construct their knowledge with the Guidance of a supportive team. Bridges goes beyond academics and it also creates opportunities for students to develop personally and socially. Years later my boys still remember fondly their Bridges experience and treasure the memories and the friends they made here.

Most of it is fine but I find they are rather inconsistent with their policies. One of the main thing advertised about this school was the lack of a dress code though there have been numerous occasions on which one specific middle school teacher will dress code certain girls saying he is uncomfortable. If 11-14 year old girls make you, a middle aged man uncomfortable, then you are the problem. This teacher also almost seems to pick on the girls in ways ranging from holding them to rules he does not hold the other students too, to not letting them use the bathroom. This teacher is also rather loud and constantly slams things such as books on desks to get the attention of his students even though many of them have complained about this loud noise being upsetting and possibly triggering to some. The rest of the school is quite nice though, except for two others which I believe to be parent volunteers the teachers are no worse than any other school. I would recommend for k-5 but not for middle school(the other two middle school teachers are lovely, this one just makes many girls in the class uncomfortable which ruins the middle school program completely). Bridges does however have a very fun kindergarten experience in which the children would hatch baby chickens and dissect squid. Once again, lovely school for k-5, just definitely not middle school.

I found this school to be one of the best I attended. Cindy M. was a wonderful teacher and truly cares about each and every one of her students. If I had to choose a teacher all over again, I'd pick her without a doubt. Thanks Bridges for making my middle school years enjoyable! Go Bobcats!

My husband and I are beyond grateful for this wonderful school and how much its helped my daughter. I wanted to offer my perspective - my daughter is currently enrolled so I feel like its a better reflection of the current environment of our school than some of the reviews that are years old.

We had a terrible experience at a local kindergarten - our daughter has anxiety and instead of supporting her she was sent to stand outside the classroom and sob alone. Shed cry everyday at school to the point of throwing up one to three times. It was truly heartbreaking. Getting her teacher to start a conversation was like pulling teeth (Im an educator, so I found this particularly maddening). To make a long story shorter, we switched to Bridges a month into the school year and the difference was night and day. She went from a kindergarten teacher who didnt seem to care, to one that was a truly amazing human being. Her kindergarten teacher at Bridges encouraged us to always advocate for our daughter! And her teacher was also an advocate for our daughter!

Our daughter has gotten so much support and I know she wouldnt have made nearly as much progress as she has without the wonderful people at this school. Her teachers have been wonderful. The school counselor and school psychologist are truly angels. My husband and I couldnt be happier or more grateful.

My daughter is also reading above her grade level and I feel like her teachers have done a good job differentiating their instruction so shes reading texts at her level, which I really appreciate. Its a great community, I could go on and on

I highly recommend Bridges!!!!

We have been proud members of the Bridges COMMUNITY for 6 years now, with a current 5th grader, and 1st grader. We absolutely love it here, and are looking forward to continuing into the middle school program next year. A school like this thrives on what your pour into it, I love the incredible opportunities I have to show up for my kids when they need me, and I love how supported they are when Im not able to be there. I have two VERY different kiddos, one 2e with an ASD/ADHD diagnosis, and one neurotypical, and both are thriving and getting what they need socially, academically, and emotionally. I am thankful for the educators here who truly believe in the whole-child and not just the statistics.

Bridges Charter School is not only our school but has become part of our home and our family. My children love going to school. Their teachers are warm and knowledgeable. They truly listen to my kids. The kindergarten program is like no other. They let the children play while also teaching them to read. Our experience at Bridges has been an amazing one. Bridges is shaping my childrens lives in a positive way that we will never forget. They also have an incredible arts program across the board. They have a fun visual arts program as well as performing arts. We love our school!

Coming to Bridges was like turning on a light! While a lot of local schools claim project based learning, Bridges truly lives it! While a lot of schools claim parental involvement, Bridges thrives on it! We were a little concerned before attending as some gossip around town was that Bridges wasn't strong academically, once we looked into it we learned that nothing could be further from the truth! The project based learning curriculum encourages more problem solving skills, teamwork skills, and well rounded comprehension of the material while also teaching the academic standards expected of all students in the state! No wonder we have above average ratings in academic growth from one grade to the next. Being a Bridges family means having an automatic community. There are SO many ways to be involved in your child's education while also guiding and teaching them how to be free and independent thinkers. The Kindergarten program is nothing short of magic. Each grade builds upon the last in such a seamless way. Conflict Resolution is the norm, mediation is always available by multiple trained employees. Covid certainly turned a lot of people's worlds upside down, in so many ways. Bridges was ahead of the game with a FULL TIME mental health staff at the ready! In addition to multiple intervention specialists, we have a full time psychologist, full time counselor (each of whom have interns learning from the best) who also teach social emotional curriculum throughout the year to all the grades. We are a K-8th! Having middle schoolers around elementary students provides the older students an opportunity to be leaders who go about their day with compassion. Having the elementary school kids on the same campus as middle schoolers gives the younger students a whole community to look up to! Administrators and Teachers are always available to talk, and have basically helped us learn how to effectively advocate for our children. Our children have grown so much, both socially and academically, thru their time at Bridges so far and we know how much of that is due to the community, environment, and programs that are so well established. The staff CARES about the kids, the staff KNOWS the kids, we are so glad so many others encouraged us to take that tour and come to Bridges to see that light.

My children have attended Bridges since kindergarten! The teachers are all so attentive, communicative, and really skilled at meeting all students' needs and providing a challenging and supportive learning environment. I am so confident that each of my children's needs are being met and that everyone at Bridges cares about them as people. The performing arts program and creative arts programs are thriving. We couldn't have found a better community of caring parents, teachers, and staff!

My son graduated Bridges in 2018. Since then he went into become Thousand Oaks High Valedictorian and now a freshman at Vassar college. Even back then, while struggling with growing pains, Bridges proved to be an excellent platform to raise an independent thinker who can advocate for himself and is brave an assured to explore the big world. Bridges helped him to build character and strength, thought him tools to succeed academically and to become a better human being. Heck, it helped me to become a better parent and a human being. The support of the community was overwhelming and Im still friends with moms from when our kids were friends at Bridges. I wholeheartedly recommend this school.

Bridges Kindergarten is the most phenomenal program I have ever experienced. The teachers are adored, the experience is amazing with play and a hands on approach to learning. The parent volunteer program engages and enriches the lives of parent and child alike. Fostering bonding in the parent-child relationship in learning.

The project-based programs in the upper level grades are wonderful and engaging. The teachers really care about each individual childs learning and overall well being. Learning is fun and experienced through doing instead of through spreadsheets. The students go on numerous field trips, have bi- weekly science meetings with wonderful naturalists that are engaging and thought-provoking and great with kids.

The students also attend art and music classes weekly. The talent show, student play, Harvest Festival and End of Year Carnival are just some of the wonderful events the school has to offer; joining the community of like minded and loving parents, teachers and students together.

Bridges has a beautiful mission of inclusiveness and whole child approach which is refreshing for any parent that loves their child and isnt just looking for their child to be treated like a number or a means to raise their academic score in Great Schools.org

Im a teacher at Bridges. Ive been teaching at Bridges for over 10 years. I chose to teach here to grow as an educator and support Socio-Emotional learning as I I believe that Emotional Intelligence is the key to lifelong learning and success. Saddens me to read some of the negative comments as many of the statements are untrue. However, our school is not for everybodyso thats ok. Come visit and see for yourself! 5 stars go toward the fun, hands on experiences, sense of community, school events and field trips. 0 stars for behavioral issues in the classroom, lack of class management by the lower grades, lack of consistency and transition from grade to grade, and lack of funding for extra curricular activities. When my kids came here, it was just like summer camp mixed with learning. If your child thrive on autonomy, and is stubborn then this is the school for themwhich means there are other kids who are the same as well. You will find more students with learning differences, behavior issues, mental and emotional issues than that of an average public school. If Bridges can marry critical thinking skills, coping skills, and creativity, this would be an exceptional school. The teachers who are great at this school have excellent class management skills. There are also teachers at this school who yell, patronize and criticize the students because they have poor control of the classroom. If your child is sensitive to noise, needs structure, and needs clear directions, then this school will not be suited for him/her/them.

Bridges is the most unorganized, chaotic, filthy, snd high drama school you can find. So much bullying gets swept under the rug. The director never engages with children, doesnt even know most the kids names. Zero leadership. This dumper fire of school should be shut down. I wouldnt send my dogs.

Bridges has asked us to like and share our reviews as its the best way to attract new families to this school. Over the course of covid, Bridges, like others have had to adapt. If you are one that is concerned about covid exposure, you will enjoy the Bridges environment. They are apparently one of few schools that are allowing parent volunteers. But you dont have to worry about kids being at risk of extra exposure, because they are one of the few schools only allowing vaccinated parents to volunteer. Unvaccinated parents arent allowed on campus at all. And there seems to be an openness to moving forward with the children vaccine covid mandate when it begins. Admin told us 86% of kindergarten students are vaccinated with the routine vaccines. Some programs we have loved in the past are yet to come back, but they are working hard to provide creative experiences for students.

My daughter has been at this school since Kinder. I could not have picked a better place for my daughter and our family. The Bridges community from the admin, teachers and parent volunteers have created an amazing supportive environment for the students and families. Nothing is ever perfect but this school comes very close.

Bridges Charter School has been excellent for our family as it offers my children the educational experience I was hoping to provide. It was important for me to find a school that not only recognizes the significance of the whole child but also fosters growth beyond that of the academics. Having test scores similar to high achieving schools within the surrounding district, what sets Bridges apart is the family engagement (from meaningful volunteer opportunities to parent education to family events), the social emotional aspects of the school, as well as the innovation and passion by the professionals on campus (this has such a positive impact from leadership to teachers to students). I cannot speak highly enough of our experience.

Bridges is an awesome school. My kids won't skip school to save their life because they are afraid they'll miss something awesome. It's a remarkable community where teachers, admin, parents and students all look out for one another. Happy kids, engaged learners, students honored for who they are, as much parent involvement as one chooses....these things make for one happy mama. Also have to add that our new Director is a PhD and is such a brilliant and talented educator AND leader....the negative review posted by a parent that was at Bridges for an hour highly offends me as a current parent at Bridges who has been there for 6 years.

I have been so impressed with this school. If you are looking for a school to help and encourage your child to be well rounded send them here. There is equal emphasis on art (full-time art teacher!), creativity and emotional growth as there is in science, reading and math. The teachers are passionate, encourage outside of the box thinking and make learning FUN. Last week the kindergarten classes took a field trip to an Aquarium and the next day dissected a squid and then painted with the squids ink! My son is in first grate and thriving... he often comes home enthusiastic and excited about a science experiment his class did or something they planted in the garden. There is gate math and writing starting in 3rd grade and there are specialist available for kids who need some extra support in certain areas. Last year Bridges was Director free while searching for a perfect fit as the Director and spent months interviewing candidates from all over and found a true gem. The new Director is qualified, knowladgeable and passionate and has brought a lot of organization and support where was needed. This school is revolutionary and only getting better, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Run, do not walk, away from this school. The teachers are mostly good, however in the last four years, there have been three directors. One left in the middle of financial scandal, one got fired due to another scandal, and the new one has never been an administrator and has 3 months of teaching experience. It used to be a good school. Now it's a nightmare.

My kids have been here since Bridges opened 7 years ago and I know that my middleschooler is prepared for high school and my elementary schooler loves learning and knows how to think outside the box. So glad we left oour "traditional" school!!

My kids have been at this school since it opened. I have 3 kids that go here. I love the school! I work in education in a public school so I see the difference bw traditional schools who push standards, standing in line, completing worksheets vs Bridges that focuses on critical thinking, problem solving and how to be involved in the world you create. Great community of parents that make you feel supported even if you cant be in the classroom. People really look out for each other. Very back-to-basics education that focuses on the child, rather than on standards

We have an 8th grader who will soon graduate from the school and started the year it opened, a 5th grader who has been at the school since Kindergaten and a Kindergartener this year. My children are academically strong and would do well in most "schools." We wanted them to LOVE learning and believe strongly in the project-based learning model. We are extremely happy with the individual attention they receive and the opportunity to grow and learn in this community. Having been at our local school with our oldest, we understand the importance of not being in a "one size fits all" model. Our children have learned to advocate for themselves, have become more confident and articulate in groups, and enjoy going to school. Our older two have always been allowed to excel in their strong areas and will go onto Middle School (staying at BRIDGEs) and high school (attending Thousand Oaks high) with a very solid education base. While no school is perfect and every child is different, we are so fortunate to have this Charter and our 3 different learners have all found a home here! We are thankful and happy!

We are on our second year at Bridges, after attending k-3 at another public school that is VERY well respected and high ranking in the community. There is no comparison. Bridges is superior in terms of encouraging positive, happy, creative learning. I don't think this is a school for remedial learners or kids with significant problems that need professional intervention, though. It doesn't have the same resources that schools in big districts have for helping kids on the spectrum, etc. I believe Bridges is designed for smart kids and extremely engaged parents. If you have both of those ingredients, you will thrive here.

by far this is the worst ...... do not send your child here we have wasted over 4 years there is no retention program which means if your child is failing they have no concern and will continue to push them on... there's no programs implemented all the children are wild and disrespectful there is no discipline they do not hold the children accountable by far the worst school in the district and somebody needs to contact the local school district with the concerns that these kids are failing..... The worst school ever

We had bad experiences at other schools before coming here and we LOVE this school. They have wonderful teachers who teach great life lessons. They push healthy foods and good choices. They still have a lot of the extra programs public schools have cut. It feels like a family here. And they don't tolerate bullying which was really important for my family.

Unfortunately Bridges is not what it advertises. Once upon a time I believe Bridges was a school that rallied around the Whole Child philosophy, but that day has come and gone, and in it's place is left a school that is leading the way in the district with Common Core Standards and implementation. Despite what some would argue, Bridges is just another cookie cuter public school pumping out little machines (albeit these machines know the importance of recycling and eating healthy foods) with meager critical thinking capabilities. The real problem however lies in the fact Bridges is caught in an identity crisis which has resulted in teachers being overwhelmed by the chaos of their unstructured classrooms full of students grappling with how to discern their expectations of work that hasn't been properly explained to them, or taught as the teachers are still trying to figure out how to be Whole Child with now worksheets and preparing for state tests. Overall, it's a mess. Their are some great teachers; the Kindergarten program is incredible, but apart from that, it's probably just best to invest your child's time in a school with a more established and cohesive educational philosophy.

I truly love bridges next year will be my sons last year! Love the staff but what bridges have is the most amazing teachers, my son does extra work just because... they inspired the kids to do their best.. The kids at bridges are well behave I should know had to field trip s to our ranch where the kids got the opportunity to have a hands on learning ! They try the best to get the kids involved on educations and they make it fun! My son is an A student.

I sent my children to BRIDGES. For 2011-2012 I LOVED it. But once 2012-2013 came. I was starting to not love it so much. I found out that the director of the school was changed. And some people were fired that started the school. One of my children were in middle school there and if you didn't like a teacher in a certain subject you couldn't change it to another one. There is literally one teacher for each. They never got lockers either, they kept pushing that back and finally they made them pretty much shelves. At the end of the year, every single person that started the school got 'let go' and I pulled out all my kids. Those were the only good people there. NOT happy. Please return to the original school you were.

This school is wonderful for some kids, but not all. You have to know your child. Kids that are self-motivated and at or above grade level will probably flourish in an environment like Bridges. We tried it for two years and I saw many wonderful things that they are for sure doing right. The communication, consistency and classroom management needs improving in most classes, but the teachers are all passionate (albeit perpetually overwhelmed) and truly love what they do. We left Bridges and my kids are doing much better with more structure and clear expectations. BUT I have many friends with kids at Bridges and know they are very happy, so this is just my experience with my own individual children. :)

Bridges is a nurturing and healthy place for our kids to grow. I like that nutritious food and taking care of the environment are an everyday part of school life. My sons are not just learning academics--they are learning social skills, art, music, and going out in the wider community through field trips. I also appreciate that Bridges lets kids be kids. Yes, there's makeup in the upper grades, but that's the exception rather than the norm. I see 8th graders running and swinging on the playground. At Bridges multi-age relationships are encouraged, and no one gives a second look to see a first-grader playing with a third-grader, for example. Bridges is a loving community and I know other parents look out for my child as I look out for theirs on my volunteer day. The only thing I would change about this school is Friends Friday during fall--too hectic and chaotic for many of the little ones.

We are so lucky to have choices in the Conejo Valley. I was tired of the large burocracy of CVUSD, watching my children becoming little machines in the classroom pumping out worksheet after work sheet without much critical thinking or deep connections being made. My children have attended BRIDGES Charter School since the school opened. Yes, there have been changes in administration and some teachers since BRIDGES first opened. Overall, our family has been very happy with our experience at BRIDGES. Both of my children are now in middle school and enjoying their experience. They like the smaller class sizes, individualized attention and community feel of the school. The teachers treat the children as individuals as they challenge them to their fullest abilities. As a parent I like seeing parents actively involved in their children s education, children learning to make good choices and taking responsibility for their education, healthy food and holidays not centered on sugary treats. If you are looking to be a partner in education with your child s school, BRIDGES is the place to be.

A school with little homework! What a concept!!! There are numerous reasons why BRIDGES is a great school, but one BIG reason stands out above all. If you're a parent who is concerned about "test scores," consider this: How does a school like BRIDGES score well above the statewide average, yet manage to give minimal amounts of homework every night? Because these kids get time to play, explore, eat & sleep! Their brains are stimulated, not fried. They can retain what they learn because they do it through hands-on doing, not textbook memorizing. For the lack of homework alone, BRIDGES is a school worth sending your children to!

Bridges tries to balance 2 distinct philosophies under one roof. The story below illustrates the contrast. (Names are fictitious.) The Smiths want their daughter Jill to be competitive in the real world. Repetition (homework), discipline, grades & academics are highly valued. Comparing test scores between schools is key to what is a "great or good" school. Jill scores high in Math & low in Reading. Her parents are "concerned" & want a more challenging curriculum & homework to address the imbalance. John is in 5th grade. Creative, intelligent, & very passionate about literature. He will write or read for hours on his own. Their perfect school, would amplify what's there & have a place to grow socially. Developing listening skills , empathy, compassion, & verbal language to maturely resolve conflict are most important. The Smiths want a teacher fired for wasting instruction time talking about conflict resolution & low test scores. The Jones' want a teacher fired for burying kids with homework & busy work & not addressing emotional growth. Great Schools is the "Amazon Star Rating System" for parents, like buying tires. There are immeasurable things in life that matter.

This is our second year at Bridges. Last year I had a 6th and 8th grader; this year I have a Kindergartner and 7th grader. There were some bumps in the road with communication, coordinating parent involvement and the junior high program last year. This year has been a 180 degree turn around! The communication is clear, concise and comes in a variety of ways. The school and PAC are working to coordinate parent involvement so that each teacher, grade level and activity is being supported. The junior high program has stepped up! the teachers are working as a team to bring the level of expectation up, up, up. The specialist the school has hired are incredible: art, music, spanish, p.e.; we even have a stem and robotics program! The work the board and staff put in over the summer is paying off in a big way this year. BUT if you are looking for a school to drop off your kid and step away, this school is NOt for you! Parent involvement is a HUGE part of the program at all grade levels.

My Daughter goes to Bridges because she loves it. I love this school as a parent too.I love to volunteer in the class,the fact that I get to interact with the kids in class and know the parents is awesome. The school has grown so much in the last few years and is getting better every year. My daughter goes to 1st grade and actually wants to go to school everyday.The school every year is moving in the right direction and getting better and better.Love BRIDGES.

BRIDGES Is a great school. It's all in how you look at it. While some think the firing of teachers is bad, others see it as a benefit of a Charter (no tenure). Some say the school goes through too many changes; others see it as progress. Some see students as unruly and disobedient; others see it as children being allowed a freedom of expression. No school is perfect. Parent expect schools to be the sole education for their children! BRIDGES truly involves the parent to be part of their children's education. Some think it's asking too much from a parent; others think it's an incredible partnership. It's all how you look at it.

my kids were getting bullied at BRIDGES. I talked to the Director, Staff and teachers. It was not handled properly. Last year the last of the people who started the school were fired. Since then, the whole school fell apart. I took my child out of BRIDGES because of this. After 3 years of being there, we noticed that this was no longer a real Charter school. Don't send your kids here.

If you want wild, disrespectful, un-educated children send them to Bridges. Kinder program is wonderful, but the school has turned into dumping ground for kids who can't handle regular school. The school is a joke.

A wonderful school where the teachers teach for the whole child. Bridges has a hybrid homeschool program where child can be at school half the week and at home half the week. A very nice library, and lots of events and fun things to do for the kids.

My kids have been at Bridges since it opened and we love it! The teachers are great and the new director is awesome. They are going into 2nd and 4th grade and can't wait for school to start again. The project-based approach is much better than just teaching a child how to take a standardized test. Real world applications of learning and problem solving will help my children later on in life. Their reading has improved dramatically, math is over their grade level and they were involved in science and social studies projects that were so interesting,they really retained the information they learned. They are expected to write everyday - creatively as well as essay-style - which will help them enormously in the upper grades. I feel like they are in a "village". The other parents really care about my children and I care about theirs. Far different from the traditional neighnborhood school we came from.

B.R.I.D.G.E.S Charter school is NOT what it advertises. At one time I had 3 children attending Bridges and slowly I have taken them all out as the good teachers have been fired replaced by teachers that follow the poor current leadership. unresponsive to concerns and emails, fail to follow their own policies and philosophies, all in all it is such a shame to see what could have been a great school fall so far down hill. Do NOT send your children here, the current staff and directors need changing.

I went to B.R.I.D.G.E.S. You should not. The middle school section doesn't even have lockers and there is only one teacher per section. The Director of this school is terrible and all the good teachers are getting fired. I left the school. All bad situations were never delt with. Don't waste your time here. Even my parents thought this school was bad.

Bridges Charter School is THE BEST school in the Conejo Valley. My son is in the Middle School program where he takes Science, Math, Humanities, PE and rotating electives. He is thriving, he is motivated, he is happy and most importantly, he is learning. The CVUSD school district could learn a thing or 20 from this school. I pulled mine from CVUSD after several disappointing, frustrating years. My son learns through all sorts of ways now, hands on, interactively, lectures and books, and more. Even his Star Testing scores have gone up significantly! Take your kids here ... they will be looked at as individuals and not a number. They will be treated with respect and they will thrive.
