My overall experience with Torrance Elementary School has been very negative. I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously, especially when they involved my childs safety and well-being. As a parent, that was extremely disappointing and stressful.
The worst part of my experience was feeling that communication lacked transparency and that my concerns were not handled in a way that made me feel my child was being protected. I left feeling unheard and unsupported.
Unfortunately, I cannot point to any positive part of my experience because it did not meet my expectations for a safe and supportive school environment.
I would like to see the school place a much stronger emphasis on student safety, honest and transparent communication with families, and greater accountability when parents raise serious concerns. Every child deserves to feel safe at school, and every parent deserves to know that their concerns will be treated with respect and urgency.

I would not recommend Torrance Elementary for students with disabilities.
In my experience, information provided by school admin and staff about inclusion and my childs services did not match the facts and evidence I had as a parent. Communications and records contained inaccuracies, and concerns I raised were not addressed.
Additionally, I was not given meaningful opportunity to participate in IEP meetings and decisions regarding my childs education.
Families of students with disabilities deserve accurate information and the right to participate fully in their childs education planning.

My child experienced repeated bullying. I notified school admin and the principal each time. For over a year there was no action taken and no written incident reports provided.
Reports I did receive contained incorrect information, and my requests to fix them were not addressed.
This lack of response and documentation is why I cannot recommend this school to other families.

Most of the teachers are really rude, and from my experience i absolutely do not like Torrance Elementary School.

I have two little ones currently attending and one who graduated and I love being a part of the Torrance El family. The entire staff and administration is one big family and I have never felt more supported. There are many family activities, the PTA is amazing, and I never worry about sending my children to school. The curriculum is great, including the specialty programs they offer such as dual immersion.

Both our girls went there before we moved and they loved the teachers. Kids were nice to each other. Great little school, building is older but overall outstanding elementary.

Greatest little school ever! Both of my boys attend this school. I previously had them at a school with high ratings and rated distinguished. In comparison, Torr Elem out rates that distinguished school any day of the week. The teachers are excellent, the curriculum makes sense and the Principal is awesome! Since my boys have attended Torr Elem, they have excelled socially and academically. Torr Elem is far more distinguished than any private school or distinguished school my boys have attended in the past. My daughter will start Kindergarten next year at Torr Elem. I wouldn't send her anywhere else!

Torrance Elementary School was an amazing school until budget cuts and the loss of an amazing principal brought it down. Now with 40 kids to a class and no aides to help the teachers it's scores are dropping instead of rising. I no longer recommend this school.
