We have tirelessly worked with the school and district regarding ongoing bullying. Bullying in any form should not be tolerated but the fact that I have had to report disgusting statements and name calling due to race is horrific.

We love our school and have been fortunate to only have a good experience here. We permit in to the district because we love it so much. The new female principal is wonderful also, and Mr. P who was the principal the previous 8 years was a great man too.
The PTA does A LOT for the success of this school. If you can join when you start, you will see great things. The money made from fundraisers goes directly back to the kids and I have seen it first hand. Some teachers had a bad rep, but they have gone now. All the teachers we have had have been top notch and dedicated to seeing the students do well.

This is a school that has stood by its idea of being a place Where Everybody is Somebody Special. We have been here since kinder and are now in 5th. Covid gave us some big bumps but this school has worked tirelessly to try and get us back on track.
There is also a strong community with the families that really believe in working together to make this the best place our students can be.
I have been a personal part of the PTA and have seen many of the inner workings and know personally how hard everyone is working to make this an amazing and safe school. I would send her for another 6 years if I could.

Del Aire is a really incredible community of students, parents and teachers. The school administration is committed to high academic achievement and invests in social-emotional development of children. Our family has two kids in second grade and they are both very happy and excited to learn and go to school!

Both my kids completed all of their elementary education at Del Aire Elementary (formerly Juan de Anza Elementary) and I worked with and enjoyed all of their teachers. Their PTA works hard to create fun events to involve the community and enrichment for field trips and classroom supplies. My kids both typical and needing an IEP built community with teachers, aides and the kids at school.

Anza is a really great school. I have two kids in Kindergarten and they love going to school. The community is warm and diverse which is so important to us. The teachers are dedicated and highly experienced. The social-emotional element is so important and there is a lot of emphasis on it.
The school principal and staff is so professional, welcoming and inclusive. We could not have asked for a better school for our kids!

I have two daughters at this school, one in Kindergarten and another in second grade. I am really blown away by the teachers, staff, parents and Wiseburn CDC. My daughters were at a Redondo Beach School and the curriculum at this school is far more advanced. In addition, the amount of programs and connection to STEM are preparing young learners for more rigorous study in middle and high school. My daughters love going to school and the staff work on the whole child teaching them how to be great citizens!

This will be our 5th year at Anza. Our children are having a wonderful experience. There is alot of parent involvement and volunteering which supports the great sense of community at this school. The teachers, principal and PTA also greatly support this feeling of community. Not only are the teachers dedicated and communicative and teach every child but they give so much of their own time to make the experience at Anza one of a kind. Just come check out the Variety Show to see what I mean! The Child Development Center next door for Pre-K and before and after school care is great too.

Our family has been at Anza for 8 years and have LOVED every minute of it. The staff and faculty are top notch. Communication is excellent between parents, teachers, administrators and students. Anza wants the parents involved and gives opportunity for involvement in every aspect of the curriculum. You get out what you put in and it's all for the kids. The doors open and close ON TIME every day and you are expected to be punctual. School Policy is easy to follow if you follow it and not expect special treatment. You get fair treatment not special treatment - everyone is equal.

My child has had a wonderful experience at Anza. The teachers and principal are outstanding and work very closely with children and families. Mrs. Nitsos goes out of her way to greet students in the morning upon arrival and keeps the valet line moving as smoothly as possible with so many families dropping off at the same time.

We are very dissatisfied with the Principal at Juan De Anza Elementary, the lack of leadership, inconsistency and overall disconnect. Doors to the school are opened and closed at different times almost daily. They are extremely quick to mark your child tardy or absent with no explanation as to why merely seconds after the door is closed and your child has already entered the school. The principal and teachers have been overheard saying distasteful things about students by myself as well as other parents. You will find other reviewers mention this. The principal and one other teacher of my child had engaged in inappropriate conversation not school related that was brought to the attention of the school district superintendent and nothing was done. The experience with this school has been unsatisfactory therefore I've placed my child in a new school.

Posted: August 29, 2014

Have not been happy with the principal and are disappointed with the schools in consistent policies. We also do not like that the school does not open the gates consistently at the same time every morning, However they are quick to mark your child tardy if they are one second late. The teachers have been great never a problem with them love them so far through third grade but have noticed a change with the school since the new principal.

Anza is an excellent school with excellent teachers who care and are committed in the success of the children. I have 2 daughter's currently enrolled and another daughter soon to start Kindergarten. Anza is about academics, community and about laying a strong foundation for the children's future. The teachers are truly excellent at every grade level. I am proud to be an Anza Eagle Parent.

Posted: October 27, 2013

It seems like Anza is really working hard to get ready for the new Common Core State Standards. There is a greater push for kids to understand the why and a closer tie to critical thinking. I am very excited to see this, Anza has always been such a good school and to know that my school is ahead of the game is very comforting. Kids really come first here! The teachers here are amazing and the principal is a wonder.

I've caught kindergarten staff talking about my child when they didn't think I was paying attention. Shame on you!

Anza School has amazing teachers. I always feel like my child is getting the highest quality education. They have high expectations, and my child has made tremendous growth with the guidance of her teachers. The communication is unbelievable, and I never feel in the dark about what my child is learning and doing in class. They prepare my child thoroughly.

I have always been impressed with Anza, but after this week of parent/teacher conferences I am blown away! My daughter is in the fourth grade at Anza. My conference with her teacher was this week. The teacher suggested my daughter attend. This teacher not only broke down my daughter's grades for me, but got specific. She not only gave reasons behind the grades, but set specific goals for how she and my daughter would improve her grades. Instead of being a bystander, my daughter was actively part of the meeting and was allowed to offer her input. This teacher ensured me that if her grades did not improve, I would be contacted immediately and a new meeting would be set so we can create a new action plan. I have never heard of a school being so proactive to iprove the learning of each student. My daughter is by no means a failing student, but this teacher still made a point to set goals and involve me in the action plan.

Tales of the 4th grade blues. I heard nothing but good things about Anza since I dug a little deeper I am disappointed. The 4th grade blues came when I realized that one of the most valuable assets to a school, the teachers, are really cubic zirconium. Some of the teachers at Anza really DO NOT want parental involvement. I.e. I requested and was denied 3 times to meet my child s science teacher just to put a face with a name, until, I mentioned getting the principal involved. My blues continued after I finally did meet with the science teacher, right away I detected animosity from the first introduction. I asked the science teacher if she could provide a schedule of assignments that she had planned for the next month or even the next 2 weeks so that I could prepare my student, she flat out said no. I guess she does no planning and wings it from day-to-day. One last thing, after I had asked to meet the teacher, my child told me that this teacher began to subtly use a meaner voice tone when speaking to my student, now I am very leary. I plan to monitor this situation very closely.

We loved this school for 1st and 2nd grade- but for 3rd grade we were so unhappy and disappointed. My daughter was put in a 3rd grade class that had co-teachers- one would work 3 days in the beginning of the week and the other 2 days and they would switch consecutively. From day 1 I knew it would not work- as a teacher myself I had very strong feelings against this and asked to be switched out of the class after the 1st week- I gave the principal a LONG list as to why and he refused telling me they dont like to switch the kids out of classes. We had such a great experience with our 1st & 2nd grade teachers that my husband and I decided we would stick it out and ultimately we regreted that decision my daughter did great in class but was not properly prepared for the CSTs in my opinion- Having 2 differend teachers really was a distraction in the class for all kids they rarely were on the same page with each other although i am sure they tried. I was really sad about that. We ended up taking our daughter out of Anza and putting her in another school. Hopefully the new pricipal will accommadate parents better who feel passionate about their childs well being.

Juan de Anza is an excellent public school. It has strong principal and school leadership, as well as excellent teachers. Classes are carefully balanced and relatively small in comparison to class sizes in nearby school districts. In addition the campus is wonderful, well maintained and very inviting for the children.

I was more than impressed by my child's third grade teacher at Juan de Anza School. The teacher wrote grants in her free time to obtain high-tech equipment for my child's classroom. This teacher emphasized being responsible for your own learning, which was highly effective. The facilities at the school are amazing, and there are plenty of extracurricular activities and community events. I'm so glad I brought my daughter to this school. This school should be a 10.

Love it! Love it! Love it! My daughter has been here for 4 years and she loves it and I love it for her. It is a good fit for her, far better than the private school I took her out of. The teachers and staff are caring and are helping me to raise a thoughtful, caring, compassionate child. There is no bullying that I have ever seen or heard of and the kids are encouraged to think about their actions at all times. The parents are involved and it shows. The campus is beautiful and well maintained. The best I have seen in a public school and better than a lot of private schools we looked at.

Juan De Anza Elementary School is a big family who cares for all their students and parents. Dr. Jones is the best principal a school can ever have. All the teachers are dedicated and devoted to their students. My five-year-old daughter is reading fluently and has learned and advanced a lot this year. The campus is well kept and very clean. My children and I love their school and highly recommend the Wiseburn School District for anyone who is looking for a school for their children.

Parent participation is essential to the success of any school. Anza promotes partnering with teachers, administrators and other parents in a way that is not burdensome, but promotes a rare sense of community. Anza makes it easy to reinforce the qualities/behaviors/virtues--e.g., the desire to learn, healthy self-esteem, and self-control--that will aid a child in becoming a great student and a great person. Anza makes it easy for parents and teachers work together to develop plans to ensure academic success.

As soon as we walked into the school building for one of the open houses, took the school tour, and met Dr. Jones, we knew this would be the perfect school for our children. It is clear that a lot of thought went into the design of the facilities. And after two years at De Anza, it is clear that the school has put a lot of thought and effort into providing its students with a great academic education. It is also very committed to teaching the children how to treat people with respect. I volunteer in my kids' classrooms periodically, and have always been impressed with the caliber of learning going on and the respect that the kids show each other, classroom guests, and their teachers.

Anza has a special place in my heart, first as an alumni, and as a parent of an alumni. I had the best teacher I could ever ask for and my son did too. Anza's staff is remarkable. My kindergarten teacher Mrs Elliot was still there when my son started kindergarten, and to me that is a testament to the school. I can't say enough about the staff. When my son had some struggles, not one staff member turned their back on him, they went above and beyond to help him succeed, and I will always be grateful for that.

Anza is a great enviroment for children. The faculty is very caring and supportive of all students. This is my son's first year at Anza, and I worried about him adjusting to a new school. His teacher, the prinicipal, and the rest of the faculty have worked really hard with him and have put my fears to rest. I love Anza and am looking forward to many great years there.
