As a parent sharing our experience from the 20242025 school year, I urge prospective families to exercise extreme caution before enrolling their children at Wiseburn Middle School. Our time here revealed serious systemic issues regarding campus safety, academic fairness, & student supportissues that remain relevant as key staff remain in place for the 20252026 school year.
* Delayed Emergency Safety Communication: During a security incident involving a threat to shoot up the schoolreported to law enforcement and administration on a Fridayparents received zero advance notification over the weekend or on Monday morning. Officers were on campus at 8:00 AM while parents were left entirely unaware during student drop-off. Official communication was delayed until well after 8:15 AM.
* Unsubstantiated Grade Alterations: A teacher retroactively lowered four of my childs grades months after completion without providing rubrics, evidence, or documentation. The district took no corrective action when reported, & this teacher remains actively employed for the 20252026 school year.
* Unaddressed Bullying & Support Failures: Persistent bullying was repeatedly reported to the administration without intervention, severely compromising my child's mental health & social-emotional well-being.

Dana is a fantastic school. I have had a wonderful experience so far. The student body is very diverse, and the teachers are kind, patient, and informative. I am so sad to leave this school and move on to high school. Dana is truly a gem.

I am in my last year at Dana Middle School and it has been a great experience so far. When I first got there in 7th grade, the faculty and staff were very nice. I highly recommend this school for a great education experience because at Dana there are teachers that care. They provide tutoring for free and the teachers don't mind staying after school to help you. This school also helps your child/children prepare for high school and college.

Dana Middle school is a rare Gem!. My son graduated from Dana in June 2015. He had the best experience a school can offer. His Caaspp assessment was great. Dana indeed prepare students for high school and college. The teachers are kind and dedicated. The school environment is clean and safe. The administrators love their job. Even though the school is big, it is well organized. The PTA is one of the best I have seen. If you want your child to experience the best school experience, Dana is the way to go.

I was worried about how my oldest daughter would transition when she went from Peter Burnett to Dana Middle School, as her earlier transition from Cabrillo to Burnett did not go so smoothly. So, I was VERY pleased that she adjusted smoothly to Dana, and has been thriving there ever since. She's a smart girl, but schoolwork has not come easily to her. She was able to gain the organizational and study skills necessary to work her way up to A's and the occasional B grade, and we give kudos to her and her teachers at Dana Middle School.

My daughter has attended the Wiseburn school district on permit since Pre-School and graduated from Dana. Sure she had two teachers she didn't care for over the 9 years she spent there. But she also had so many amazing teachers. She is so ahead of the game. She now attends Mira Costa which has the highest API score in the South Bay. She finds Costa easy compared to Dana. They push them hard but there are plenty of teachers that stay afterschool to help. If you want your child prepared for the rea world, I highly suggest Dana.

This is my daughter's first year at Dana and she is LOVING it! The classes are very challenging which I love because pushes my child to do better and better; if she gets a B she is not satisfied and pushes herself to conquer that A. The school is diverse, with kids of different ethnic and financial backgrounds that make no difference to the kids. It teaches my child tolerance and respect for others belief. The teachers are caring, dedicated and upbeat! My daughter came home excited at a performance the teachers put together with a song, so they offer not only a private school education at a public school price but they also make school fun with their unique learning environment. We are just so pleased and greatful to Dana MS and we constantly recommend it to others.

RH Dana Middle School is dedicated to ensuring students have a positive educational experience. My son has attended the school for the past 2 years and the school has a small community feel. The core subjects are taught by teachers that care.

I think my school is a great school. I think my school is great because I feel safe, they have amazing after school programs, great sport teams, and awesome staff. The facilities are very well in shape and the classrooms are nice sizes. The teachers are nice they know what there teaching and they know it very well. Dana has great discipline rules, there are no bullies and all students have an equal amount of attention from the teachers. But sometimes it can get cold or hot in the classrooms and the teachers aren't able to change the temperature from the classrooms the office has to change it and I would really like for the teachers to change the temperature.

Dana is an excellent middle school. My daughter is in her third year, and looking back, it is amazing how much she has learned. Her grades have risen from 3.2 to 4.0. The teachers are wonderful. They are skilled educators and care about the students. Students are taught to organize, set goals and self evaluate. My daughter has always had meaningful homework and great projects to complete. The yearly trips are wonderful learning opportunities.
