I attended an open house at Idea Center shortly after my son started there due to the need for a smaller setting to support his learning style. After the switch I have never seen him more happy or engaged. During the open house, I met SO many talented, unique and amazing kids. I spoke with one student that I saw as a professional leader, not a minor. It was so impressive. They also have amazing programs. I know about a construction, art and pottery class. My son is pursuing the construction pathway and receives OSHA certification and is building a house from frame to completion with his teacher. I can't say thank you to this school enough for supporting him utilizing his IEP and helping him feel like he loves to be at school every day.

IDEA CENTER AND ITS STAFF ROCK!!!! If your child needs a smaller environment, or is highly creative, this is an excellent environment for them to excel.

This school was a good transition socially and academically after the pandemic. The dynamics are much different than traditional schools and seem more pronounced because of how small the student body is.
Ex an incident of bullying will affect the whole grade level negatively and students will feel its impact in a more pronounced way. Likewise the students who thrive have closer interactions with peers and staff than they would at a bigger high school.
The English and science programs seem to adequately prepare students for possible college work in the future, but the math I am not wholly convinced by as my student doesn’t seem to have much practice other than what is done in class. I believe that shows in the testing scores and preparedness in math, and I wish they would have higher standards in that area for those who can accomplish more.
The staff overall have been great, they seem to have a good working relationship with each other, and interact positively with the kids.
I don’t think this school like many were prepared to deal with students who have transitioned from elementary school to pandemic lockdowns, then high school socially. They are being careful with them, but the kids are missing such formative years socially and emotionally that I don’t believe that is understood how the impact on them works as a social group.
Overall, my child has enjoyed their time here and we hope more students come here so there are more teens with a wider variety of interests and academics to befriend.
