My kids love learning here, but the staff, and teachers are extremely disrespectful! Whenever my kid gets bullied by other kids, they DON'T CARE! I have said multiple times that my kids are getting bullied, but the teachers and staff don't care! My kids love their teacher, but other teachers are very disrespectful to my kids, and other kids. And you have to be lucky to get a teacher you actually like. The only days that are fun are school spirt days, makerspace, innovation, and after school activitys, I do not recommend letting your kids going to this disrespectful school!

My two children love this school! We have been so impressed with the connections the teachers make with our kids and the education beyond just academics and delving into what it means to be a good citizen and leader. Our children enjoy so many of the extra and enhanced programs from Innovation and Makerspace to Band and Choir. It's a wonderful community and I just wish more parents would lean in and volunteer.

We love this school! They facilities are amazing, the buildings are amazing and brand new (especially the TK, K, and afterschool rooms). The staff is A++. The teacher that my child had in TK was such an amazing, kind, and patient teacher. She made his entire year and the transition from a pre-school to a "big school" easy. The school programs and family events are great too an allow parents and families to feel very invested in the school. We felt like the school was more of a family. The kids get chromebooks at K so I feel like the curriculum is very advanced and tailored to helping kids understand computers and working in a technical environment. Overall, the school is top notch and very clean, advanced in terms of the buildings and tech.music saavy (There's also a full innovation lab! How cool is that). My only con is that the drop-off and pick up is kind of a cluster - there is only one way in and you have to wait in line through a full hairpin turn just to access the parking lot to drop off your TK/K child. Not great, but you get used to it and should plan about 10+ min to be in that line.

My 2 girls went to this school when the school opened. They were in 3rd and 5th. Being that this is a k-8 school, it was nice to not have them go through the adjustments of a regular middle school after 5th grade. This school offers programs that may not be offered in other schools. I always felt the teachers were vested in their class, their students and the subjects they were teaching. That to me was the most important thing. Knowing the teachers were actively involved in their lessons and trying to make it fun for the students. My girls never had any negative interactions with the staff, students or administration and on the one off that they did, I was able to navigate the situation with staff and/or administration. I always felt that as long as my girls were respectful to other students and staff, they got that respect in return.

Terrible experience at this school over the years for my kid, he used to come home crying almost from the amount of stress that was laid upon him by the teachers. I tried to talk to the school directly and THEY DID NOTHING.. Not to even mention how some of the teachers would treat him and other students. Truly disgusting school.

None given and no homework policy followed (mostly)
Posted: September 25, 2019
Some are good some are bad. Administration is very liberal and opposite than SEH. Hands off approach with everything. SEH is far superior.
Posted: September 25, 2019
They say they are leader in me and lighthouse yet dont like one. They do not believe in what they teach. Some great teachers get bad rep due to bad admin and bad leadership
Posted: September 25, 2019
Totally disagree. Admin is not involved with progress. Overcrowded and donot listen to feedback from parents. Its a nice building from outside but inside admin needs changing and more experience.
Posted: September 25, 2019
Needs a lot of improvement. They need a new administration with better leadership skills such as SEH middle or elementary.

V. Poor leadership from the Principal. The new pick up procedure is useless and the principal has no control over it.

You hear stories, you watch lifetime movies but I have never seen it first hand until this school. The kids are not supportive of each other, they are outright manipulative, deceitful and disrespectful towards each other.
Posted: February 26, 2019
We haven't seen much positive leadership. They have a Leader In Me program but not sure the message is getting across as they hoped.
Posted: February 26, 2019
Posted: February 26, 2019
I think they attempt to correct the behavior of some of the more aggressive and manipulative students but at the end of the day, those kids seem to convince everyone they won't do it again until it happens again. There should probably be heavier consequences and more positive reinforcements for the students that are having to deal with these type of students.

Our experience has been nothing but positive. I'm surprised at the review below because it is so opposite of our experience. We've found both the music program and innovation program to be really great. They won't force it down the child's throat, but they have great exposure and if they want to pursue the opportunity further, they are allowed to. If you are great at violin in third grade, they let you continue playing. What other elementary school nearby even has a music program? The innovation lab is open before school and during other after hours for kids who really want to learn. The class projects in innovation are also better then any I've seen. The teachers are hit or miss, some excellent, some just good, none terrible in my experience. We've been very pleased overall.

Leader in Me curriculum is for appearances only. Students mouth the words but do not act with civility and courtesy toward other children. Compassion, integrity and respect rarely demonstrated. The Golden Rule not applied. Culture of selfishness and mean-spiritedness. Students learn by example, which is poor as far as administrators and teachers. Bullying and other student misconduct rampant.
Posted: March 29, 2018
Very disappointing. Poor example to students. Failure to respond to reports of known problems on campus. Unwilling or unable to receive and act on parent and student input. Not a child centered approach. Failure to follow district policy. Inconsistent application of school rules. Favoritism. Not truthful to parents and students. Fail to demonstrate 7+ Habits approach as advertised.
Posted: March 29, 2018
Teachers often do not seem to understand or take into account learning differences. Both special needs and GATE students suffer. Little variation in teaching methods and modalities. Teachers accept disruptive classroom behavior as normal. A quiet or distractible student disturbed by repeated outbursts in class is not supported but a disruptive student is not corrected. Too much emphasis on getting money for each child with learning differences as opposed to supporting all students effectively.
Posted: March 29, 2018
Unsafe environment for learning. Many incidents of repeated reported verbal and physical abuse among students go unaddressed. Several students we knew were seriously injured by bullies. Administration and staff are not responsive to complaints. Lax standards. Poor investigation. Lack of supervision in schoolyard. Administrators cover it up and defend the school at all costs. Follow up if your child is bullied. Contact the District. File the form. Defend your child when administrators turn on him or her. They make the victim the problem. Get your child out if you see a pattern and he or she becomes a punching bag. Few good alternatives within this District as far as quality schools go. So, donÂ’t get stuck here. Start out at a better school with a proven track record.
Posted: March 29, 2018
If I could give this school zero stars, I would. Clearly a D or an F grade overall. If you find that your child will be attending this school, donÂ’t buy that house. Run the other way. Building is nice, but appearances can be deceiving. District spent a bundle on facilities and now has some major financial problems. We were sold on the schoolÂ’s mission and philosophy but are very disappointed. Leadership and innovation curriculum marketed to parents as an incentive to send a child here, but the curriculum in these areas is poorly developed.
Posted: March 29, 2018
Poor planning. Ineffective communication of assignments to students. Inconsistent standards. Little communication or follow up with parents. Difficulties and trends identified very late in semester. Interventions inadequate. Assignments are busy work. Waste of time.
Posted: March 29, 2018
Many mean teachers who yell at students. Some are not the sharpest. Mistakes in teacher created materials. Discouraging to students. Embarrass them by having conversations in front of other students regarding matters better discussed in private. Violations of district policies on discipline. Majority of teachers do not keep student interest. Lesson plans poorly done. Teachers cannot communicate effectively with students. Some seem overwhelmed by class size and pace. Gender biases. Lack of concern for privacy of student information. Some of the worst teachers in the county seem to have been dumped at this school. Clearly some teachers hate their jobs. Some seem jaded and close to retirement. Others very inexperienced.

IÂ’ve seen so much motivation and pride in my children these past two years. They are so excited and engaged in the curriculum the donÂ’t even notice how hard they are working. Teachers are very dedicated to making DPS something unique and proving that integrating things like innovation, music and leadership skills in their daily curriculum will improve academics. I believe it.

Nice arts/music program. No homework policy for lower grades which I didn't particularly like since kids had issues with multiplications and had to move to division. No reward system to help encourage the kids like flag salute etc. pick up at the end of school is a nightmare

Double Peak School has been absolutely amazing for our children. It has exceeded our expectations. The school focuses on leadership principles. The principle is a great leader and speaker and it is apparent that he is great at leading the team of teachers here! The school facility is like something out of a movie. It is clean and functional and my kids take pride in attending Double Peak. Homework is kept to a minimum and as a busy family with 2 working parents, that is appreciated that as much learning as possible takes place while the children are at school. The minimal homework allows the kids to participate in after school activities and allows us to have the family time together each evening that we should have! My children are learning so much more at Double Peak than they have in previous schools. They are enthusiastic about things (like coding and ASB) that I never thought they would be. This school offers experiences that are not yet typical in most other schools. From the staff, to the facility to the educational platform and tech, this school is leading the way for the new generation.

It’s a brand new school. Sure, it’s “fancy” but our school before they re-zoned us was a lot more fun and age appropriate. Elementary kids got to be kids not pre-teens.
Seems alot of Teachers are more about appearances however I think Some truly care about their students and take time to listen, respect, protect and support them and I praise those.
Homework is definitely hit and miss. I feel like itÂ’s not consistent. ItÂ’s more about passing tests than getting the kids to truly understand what they are learning.
Our other school took bullying very seriously. They encouraged kindness on a daily basis. This school seems to turn a blind eye. They tell the kids to “handle it” themselves. Isn’t that what causes all the bullying in the first place. I think the adults and staff should take more respsonsilbilty and initiative when it comes to this. Kids need to be held accountable otherwise they will continue their behavior because there are no consequences.
The principal is great. I think hes Committed to making this a good school.

We love it at Double Peak. As our first year in middle school was last year it was nice to have it be such a small group and for the 6th graders to come in being expected to be leaders not the babies of middle school. It made the transition so smooth. Makers Space and the Innovation lab are really amazing and I love the emphasis the school puts on music. The band concert at the end of last year was really superior to many concerts I have seen from High School Bands. So impressive. Can't recommend this school enough!

Couldn't recommend this school more!
