Compass Charter Schools is an excellent virtual personalized learning charter school. They care deeply about my daughter and making sure that she gets a well-rounded education while also pursuing her passions. I highly recommend Compass Charter Schools.

Compass kicked my children out of school and had the police come to my home. They kicked my children out without any proper notice and didnt follow the procedure for this either. They have refused to provide me proof of their reasons and have not acknowledged the proof I have sent to counter their actions. According to the letter they sent me three weeks late, my children have not been in their school since the last week of April, I filed a PSA in mid May when I found out, and yet the school still was somehow allowed to file a report with the police to check on my children yesterday even though we were not in their school anymore this entire month. This was all blatant retaliation. They have even hidden my review on their facebook page and have only communicated with me when another parent who has a lawyer working with her in regards to issues with the school has reached out to the school on my behalf. My children were kicked out to retaliate against me for requesting a new teacher and not remaining silent anymore about the issues the school caused us. The police being called was to retaliate because this last Monday I refused to discuss this over the phone instead requiring it in writing. We were a perfect family for Compass for 4 years. Why would a school that your children dont attend anymore and havent attended for a month be allowed or inclined to call the police on you? Why would this be ok, especially with a paper trail over a month long of the parent trying tirelessly to communicate to the school which has barely if at all communicated back to said parent. That doesnt add up to anything but retaliation to me.

I am extremely shocked with the lack of support from this program and how coordinators have no experience as educators. The school made a big mess paying for my children's course, had them enrolled in the WRONG GRADE LEVEL. My seven-year-old was in 4th grade and nine-year-old was in 1st grade. After months of complaining I was told my youngest would only be able to attend 3 classes. That doesn't even cover core curriculum.

I have been working at Compass for almost 5 years. I have watched it grow in so many ways, always keeping our scholars' best interests at heart. This school is ethical and stives to be exceptional.

I do not know of bullying. I know my daughters public school in Granada hills did nothing to stop bullying.

This school isnt the problem with the low test scores. The problem is that sometimes families who are low income do not have the ability to replace broken computers or pay wifi bills. Sometimes they end up homeless and can barely keep their child up to date on schoolwork. Im a parent who has suffered through difficult times. And Sometimes logging into the test site us a problem. It is not the school.

We've been to several homeschool charters, including Sky Mountain, CAVA and iQ Academy. I have to say that Compass Charter is the best we've been in. First of all, the support staff is fantastic. Jeanne Hlebo as the vendor coordinator is terrific and she was a deciding factor for us in the decision to switch schools. The teachers have a lot of experience, especially in home school charters and run the clubs and participate in field trips. I felt that in other home school charters that they constantly made excuses for why they wouldn't/couldn't do something. Getting new vendors on the lists were like pulling teeth. It's such a refreshing difference to deal with Compass staff. So wonderful! We are low income but my son scores very high on his exams and tests.
Compass is also very tech savvy. A lot of things are automated and have easy access forms to complete. We don't meet in person with our ES, only via phone, google hangouts or email. But I find the in person meetings unnecessary. It seems to me that the ES have more time to actually get things done and they are more efficient. I only wish that there were more students in the Los Angeles city proper area. We live in LA and would like to have more meetup opportunities with other HS kids in the LA area.
