My daughter went to this school , if your child has a disability do not bring them here. If your child is a darker skin tone do not bring them here. The bullying is constant , the kids are mean. The teachers do nothing about it as well as your child will learn nothing from this school. WARNING !!!

I have had 3 children go to this school. Lets start with the bullying. There are no consequences for the bully. As if this school does not see the outcomes of bullying. Next, if your child is behind, they definitely do not recognize it, and when you bring it to their attention, still, nothing is done for months. I Do not recommend this school maybe there are better ones in the neighborhood.

Three of my kids attended this school right before covid. It is well above capacity. Teachers don’t have time to ever offer one on one help, even if a student makes the effort to come early or stay late.
There is a lot of bullying, and no real discipline for it. Administration makes a point of saying they’ll put a stop to it, but it only gets worse. Their homework load for a KINDERGARTENER was ridiculous to me, and the teacher was unkind, had a temper and frequently had my 6yo coming home in tears.
Of the three 6th grade teachers my daughter would rotate between, one of them cared about my daughter being bullied, the other two just couldn’t be bothered.
We moved into our house because it was within walking distance to this school, but by March of the school year, right before covid shut it all down anyway, I pulled all my kids out and started homeschooling.
Even when schools opened up again, I wouldn’t dream of putting my younger kids here again. Disappointed.

We recently moved to Otay Ranch and specifically purchased a home so we could attend Saburo Muraoka Elementary School.

Bottom line is that we were bumped out of this school to another school in the district because the school is well above capacity.

That's an understandable issue but it's frustrating that we were just made aware of the issue 10 days after school started.

It's a popular school and why we purchased a home within walking distance for our two boys to attend. I understand why people want to attend this school.

It was already tough enough for our son to adjust not knowing anybody at the school and having to deal with one particular kid that was bullying him the first few days. That issue was dealt with and our son was just starting to make a couple new friends after coming home in tears the first few days.

But now 10 days into the school year when we are just getting things on track we are told that he's been assigned to a new school.

We talk a lot about the mental welfare of our children. Starting at a new school for a 6 year old is not easy. You already knew the school was well past capacity. Why not avoid these issues earlier on in the enrollment process?

Tomorrow we will be off to a new school that's not within walking distance and there will be tears. We tried to spin this off as a positive but our son was crying this afternoon about the thought of attending a new school and having to make new friends.

I wish we would have known this was going to happen. We would have avoided school for the first 10 days once we knew he was going to make the cut and be able to attend.

I hope that someone with some authority reads this so the enrollment process can be improved. Young kids shouldn't get emotionally involved and excited about a new school only to be turned away. It's frustrating.

Pre-COVID, the educators would supply packets at the begining of the week for the student to take home, this gave parents the ability to gauge their work and supplement with additional learning aids to cover any gaps or enchanted certain skills.

The feed back between the staff and parent was great. Learning apps such as class dojo has given us the ability to monitor the learning experience and interact with the educator more fluidly.

The push with extracurricular activites as well as class participation mixed with the demographics has produced a well balanced student.

There has been a change in principals recently so we really have not gauged her performance well enough

My child has no learning disabilities so I would not know.

My children have been raised to deal with issues independently and have been trained in martial arts, therefore they are naturals with dealing problems, bullies and deescalation

Great school! Both my kids are in the dual immersion program. Teachers really care about the students’ success in the program and offer wonderful support for students and their families
