This school has been such a great experience. Small classes, academic environment geared towards college-but not in a way that feels pressured. People have been really friendly, and the staff and administration are very approachable.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL SO MUCH. I have never felt more accepted anywhere in my life. For the most part, (at least in my experience), everyone seems to get along pretty well no matter what clique they may fall into. Bullying doesnt seem to be much of a problem, and Ive never seen an actual fight. The campus is clean for the most part and very well kept. The teachers are all so amazing, and I cant think of one that I genuinely dislike. The music and art programs are wonderful and the classes are interesting. (Again, this is just my experience! I cant speak for everyone.)

Were glad that our daughter transferred to VIPHS. In her words, The teachers here actually talk and teach. Many teachers at my old school just let us watch videos. That made me realize how much teacher-led, paper-and-pen instruction helps students focus and learn. As a transfer student, my daughter was warmly supported by teachers, her advisor, and the staff. The community is small, caring, and dedicated. I also joined a Board of Directors meeting before enrolling and was impressed by the schools organization and forward-thinking leadership. VIPHS reports an 81% college-acceptance rate, compared with under 60% at many nearby public high schools. The average class size is about 20 with a 15:1 student-teacher ratio, versus 3035 students and ratios in the high 20s elsewhere. VIPHS is a close-knit, welcoming community that genuinely cares for students and prioritizes personal attention and academic excellence. Plus, drop-off and pick-up are so easy, a small but real bonus for families!

This school is a hidden gem. Faculty and staff are very professional and engaged in bringing the best education to students. I especially appreciate the Art and Jazz classes, as my daughter is thriving as an artist and has been given great opportunities to learn about her passion and creativity. I would absolutely recommend VIPHS to any student who is looking for a small school where they are seen and respected by their teachers and classmates.

My daughter is in her senior year and has done all of her high school here. We absolutely love the smaller student size, the admin, the building, the music lab department! And Anne is so knowledgeable and helpful with college prep!

VIP Hugh School is indeed a gem. The teachers and staff are great and caring, the small class sizes is excellent, allowing each student more individual attention. The campus is very safe, we have not heard of any bullying which us wonderful for a high school. They start college prep from the beginning g, without the stress and pressure. It really feels like a private school, both when it comes to education and community! The only negative, is that they don't offer PE. Even for students who aren't sporty, PE is important.
I would highly recommend VIP to anyone who wants a solid education, fantastic college prep and a friendly and healthy environment!

My son is in his second year at VIP and he is thriving. He entered high school during the pandemic and was very anxious. The small class size and excellent teachers have helped him grow into a confident young man. The music, theater and speech & debate programs rival any major public (or private) school. The science teacher has him wanting to travel overseas to do research for our environment. This may be naive on my part (and I do keep asking) but there doesn't seem to be bullying like we saw in my other child's high school. They prepare students for college from the beginning and this past May, I saw that many VIP students were accepted into schools that are very hard to get into, including eight students who were accepted into Berkeley. Not bad for a class size of 100 students!

Valley International Prep has been an amazing school for our son. He has had wonderful and caring teachers, small classes, individualized attention when needed, access to AP classes, and robust college preparation and guidance. There are also opportunities to get involved in Music, Speech and Debate, Theater and Arts. My son is well positioned for success in college and beyond.

Our son started 9th grade this year and absolutely loves the school. He raves about the small class sizes and doesn't have a favorite teacher, "because they are all so great". He is an excellent student generally speaking and feels challenged but not overwhelmed. They do a block schedule which he really likes. We've found the school to be excellent with communicating and are thrilled to be part of this hidden gem of a community. It's small and all hands on deck for events which feels great in such a large city.

I have had an incredible experience here at VIPHS. I am a senior and have been here all four years. The teachers and staff are so kind as are the students. I have struggled academically in certain subjects my entire life but I have certainly gotten and am still getting the help I need to succeed and pass my classes. That is why I have always gone to smaller schools with smaller class sizes and this was the perfect fit for me. I love and enjoy it here very much and I have never been in a situation where I've felt unsafe or unhappy. I would recommend this school to anybody searching for something similar to what I was searching for, or just in general. I will be very saddened this June when it is time to say goodbye.

Our experience at this school has been EXCELLENT. Our older child was struggling both academically and socially in middle school. We chose VIPHS because of its small class sizes, charismatic and organized principal, and engaging teachers. The school's college for all focus was lost on us- we didn't think our kid would ever be college ready. The kind, attentive staff at VIP helped our teen come out of her shell. She genuinely loves school now, and is on track to have multiple college acceptances. Our 2nd child just started at VIP and loves it too. I mean, the theatre teacher is a bona fide Broadway veteran, the art teacher has gallery shows... the teachers are at the top of their games as well as kind and inclusive. Valley International Prep is an absolute gem, so lucky we found it.

Great high school! It's my daughters second year there and she loves it, especially the music program. We also love the small size of the school- under 300 kids for a whole high school! Teachers are great, kids are great. Only one small negative.... no athletics. Otherwise, a pretty perfect school!
