The Math an me English Departments have great teachers. Overall the school has been great but the AVID program is just not effective. This is disappointing as proper support is what these kids need.

Having experienced this school through the eyes of 3 children all on very different paths, we are very happy with the school. The principal and administrative staff do an excellent job communicating with families, and balancing academics with opportunities for students to connect to their peers and build fond memories. The high school would benefit from having a few more academically challenging classes for a handful of students that need it, but that is a district problem and likely not financially feasible. The support dog is a sweet touch and my children loved the visiting animals at lunch last year as they prepared for finals. School dances can be hit or miss. The schools in the district do not have school buses. Public transportation options are available, but far from ideal. This does make for some traffic challenges around the school. The classes offered through the CCA program should be taken advantage of and give students experiences that can help them better narrow down a career path. Most of the teachers genuinely care and arent just there to collect a pay check. I do feel like this school does have something for everyone. Some students are going to make friends right away while others need more time to develop friendships, but just like the real world, if they get involved in something they enjoy, that is when they start connecting and gain a sense of belonging.

School is extremely outdated, has ongoing issues with rodents and sewage. Curriculum is a strong point of the school, however, teachers often seem to take the easy route instead of actually helping students learn material. Have gone here for the past 4 years and administration has not been the greatest.

There are advantages and disadvantages at every school. CVHS does an excellent job of connecting with their students as individuals. I have had only positive experience with the administration and teachers. Communication is a two-way street. Parents cannot expect more than they give. CVHS keeps the communication going until the problem is solved. I highly recommend.

This is a great school with opportunities for everyone. Like most things in life the experience here is what you make it. If you want everything handed to you easily then good luck. But, if you want to be a self starter and responsible for your own success this is a great place to launch from.

Terrible no one really cares about you, and anyone who looks forward to coming here everyday is just excited they get to hit there JUUL in the bathroom. Also if you think I am just some kid trolling that is not true, I am a 4.0 all honors/AP student.

Teachers just dump useless assignments on you that in no way prepare you for tests. All there good at is causing stress, and for a lot of classes the teachers are so lazy that you can just search up the name on the worksheet and find the answers.

You are more likely to get in trouble for being late to class than vaping, and doing other drugs at school.

There really is no leaders at this school, and most of the kids just vape so its pretty much just you and your friends.

I love this school! My boys have had a great High School experience and I couldn't be happier. The staff is always very helpful, our principal has an open door policy and genuinely cares for our students, and we have had great experiences with the teachers that my boys have had. The school is in need of a facelift, but it should because it's almost 40 years old!

Visited this school with my teenagers while on a house hunting trip. The building is showing its age, but the staff and teachers seem welcoming and very professional. They have a very nice 50 meter pool. Giving this school two stars and deciding to look elsewhere because my children are interested in engineering. The PLTW program is entered only through a districtwide lottery. So if you attend this school and don't win their lottery your kids transcript will be missing those 4 engineering classes that the other kids from capo will have. They probably should have given preference to kids from capo, and used a lottery for the rest, as this will be a significant disadvantage to those students trying to get into an engineering college. Tesoro and Aliso Viejo both have newer facilities and better test scores anyway, so I will probably try our luck with the lotto after moving to one of those schools. JSerra Catholic has a very nice Engineering Magnet, if you can afford it.

I'm giving my school an above average rating because this school offers a variety of classes ranging from Marine Biology to AP Art History. This school offers alot more classes than other schools in the area, but my problem with this school is that I don't feel challenged. No one pushes you to your potential. There are so many smart kids at my school who don't know it because either they're not motivated or not being pushed hard enough. Other than that it's a pretty good school, all the teachers are nice and it's a very easy going school.

I went to Capo in the late 80's. I was very intelligent, but was one of the students that fell through the cracks and dropped out. The school officials knew I was struggling with issues at home, but there was very little outreach to me. School should have been a sanctuary, a refuge from my crazy life, but it wasn't. As for the academic material, many of my classes were about memorizing information for tests - which I promptly forgot if I even bothered at all - there was zero critical thinking. I was the invisible and troubled child in the room that was never engaged. I ended up taking the GED the year after I should have graduated. There were quite a few students like me that you will never hear about, but we existed then and probably still do now. I went on to carry a 3.9 GPA in college and a successful career, so my story has a happy ending - but I know there are ones who aren't as lucky.
