This school is okay, however, most kids in this school WILL(in my experience) curse a lot, be pretty disrespectful, act like idiots(not everyone, but a good amount), get out of class to record TikToks, say slurs(or slur adjacent words), etc.I think this happens at a lot of schools though, so Despite this, if you or youre child or however your related to somebody going to this school or thinking about going to this school, if they find some decent people who will support them and actually be good friends then theyll have a decent time, which I have but still have to deal with idiots who also will try to antagonise you, I have amazing friends so Im okay with this. Also, for the do you recommend this school Ill say yes, but it actually depends on the child. The teachers are generally good my personal favourites are Ms. Endow, Ms. Porter, Ms. Hiraga, Ms. Petty, and Mr. Gerbosi(I didnt have him but my friend did and she really likes him). So yeah!
Reminder: This is MY experience it will fluctuate from child to child

I havent gone to this school, but Id like to all give you a warning about one of the vps, Todd Amon. He used to be a vp at my old school, Niguel Hills. He was inappropriate with the female students. I experienced this as well. He would constantly dress code me (I never got dress coded by anybody else but Todd and the principal of our school, both creeps). Hed also walk around school all day with a b*ner. So many people pointed this out, so I know it wasnt just me. Protect your kids. I wont let my little sister go to a school where hes at because of this situation.

This is my first year going here and I really want to transfer next year. All grade levels are very rude. Some of the teachers are really nice. They give supportive and helpful comments. Otherwise, the other staff members are uncooperative and make children uncomfortable with their surroundings. On January 20th and 21st, there was a really big fight between homophobes and the supporters of the LGBTQ+ community. I am a strong believer that love is love, but this caused major reputation damage to the school. All in all, this school has made me feel like I needed to transfer, but it also has taught me so many things Ive never knew before. The nice teachers Ive had impacted my lifestyle more than ever, but so did the bad ones.

After having an amazing experience at our local elementary school, we had high hopes for Newhart. The first year (before COVID) was great! Unfortunately, since then, the administration does not seem well prepared or qualified to manage the list of ever-growing issues at Newhart. The Principal, Mrs. Murphine. is a poor communicator and lacks compassion and problem-solving skills in order to lead the school. More often than not, the office staff seems confused and uncooperative.
Recently there have been major issues at the school that the principal did a horrible job of managing. Students feel uncomfortable because of a few outspoken LGTBQ teenagers who insist on forcing their beliefs upon others, AT SCHOOL! Instead of managing the few kids who started all of these issues, the principal allowed a follow-up fight and a very credible school shooting threat to happen, all stemming from the same kids!!!
We are firm believers in 'love is love' and LGTBQ rights, but not when expressing those rights means making children feel uncomfortable and unable to feel comfortable learning.
Another huge issue is the lack of support for kids with IEPs. The resource staff is under-qualified and understaffed in order to assist kids who really need the help!
Our son has had some amazing teachers at Newhart, but if the admin team and/or District doesn't get a hold of these issues, the teachers will be unable to teach and the kids will be unable to learn!

The school has gone down hill fast since the new Principal Mrs. M took over. This year alone there has been threats of shooting, riots and little consequences for the kids involved. Our daughter has been exposed to vaping, drugs and sexual situations that no middle schooler should experience. The front office staff is often rude and acts like you are bothering them when you call in. This school needs a major restructuring from the top down. Thank goodness this is our last year there!

Newhart academically seems to be on-track and offers great electives. We get a decent amount of homework but nothing over the top. They have a new updated STEAM/Science building that is very impressive. Overall, the school with learning I am happy about. What I am not happy about is actively disciplining bullies. A female student, who has harassed, bullied and physically harmed several girls has had little consequences. Their PC culture of not directly addressing it is frustrating. I also don't care for all the inclusion diversity stuff on campus. If kids want to express themselves, protest whatever create a space for it. We send out kids to school to learn and prepare for high school and beyond. One of the teachers even asked my 11 yr old daughter what her pronouns are. Its gone beyond where it should be on issues like that.

We absolutely love this school and his staff! The school offers an array of different courses for students with different interests, the accelerated program is fantastic, and teachers are always quick to respond to questions and concerns even after hours. We could not be happier.

This has been the worst school experience I have ever had to deal with. The teachers, especially the 6th grade teaching staff are awful and the principal is not a problem solver. He is not proactive at getting matters resolved. Very passive Pricipal makes for a very careless and unethical teaching staff.

Overall, a great school. Good teachers, well run, and issues (when they arise) are taken care of promptly. Teachers take the time to discuss your kids and work with you on issues. There was an off campus incident were a few kids got overly rowdy (on a few occasions previously also) on the school bus to the extent that the driver had to pulled over. The principle immediately drove over and those kids were removed from the bus route permanently.
My only complaint is in regards to my childs 7th grade math teacher, Ms. Mascari. I inquired as to the lack of homework and she told me that she did not believe in homework!!! The only work my child brought home was study guides for tests. The kids were spoon fed the tests, but there is no retention. We wanted to check if her approach works and gave 1 question from each chapter: 9-12. My son could not solve any of these correct. But his grade was A. The school get a good grade and their funding, but the students pay for it next semester when they are behind.

This is an excellent school because of the student-focused teacher, principal and staff. I had one child here from 2003-2007 and another from 2011-2014 and both have had fun, engaging teachers who stretched their limits and cared. They were both FULLY prepared for the rigors of advanced high school classes. The principal is one of the two best we have ever encountered. The anti-bullying and not to drugs programs are practiced ongoing, not just preached. Sadly we will be leaving this school for the last time at the end of this year. I give Newhart Middle School the highest recommendations! Thank you, to all Newhart teachers, staff and the principal!

My child attended Newhart for three years and is currently in high school. Newhart MORE than prepared her for high school and she is doing extremely well. In her three years, she never saw a fight, drugs, alcohol, or pregnancies. There may be small traces of this there, but those are not the crowd she associates with, so she never saw evidence of this. Mr. Jones is a great principal and most of the teachers are very strong. Newhart is a great school with great kids and I highly recommend it.

This is an excellent school overall. The fundraising programs are well organized, and I am learning a lot every day. There have not been any serious violence issues (just a few "horseplay" incidents) that I know of, but there has been a drug issue that the staff is very strict about. The anti-bullying program is great; anonymous ways to report bullying helps a lot. The elective choices are great. Some teachers are better than others, obviously, but overall they are all very good. Go Panthers!

This is an amazing school with great teachers and students! The drug and violence issues the previous parents spoke about are minimal and honestly, those types of issues usually start at home. Newhart provides an outstanding education for my kids - as the test scores prove! My kids have found great friends and lots of opportunities to be involved in school in positive ways! You can tell the teachers genuinely care about their students.
