Admin does nothing to punish bullies. They let obnoxious children and entitled parents run the school. Grow a spine. With its current leadership, I do not recommend this school.

I saw a kid I knew come crying after school. He told me kids were bullying him, stealing his stuff and throwing stuff at him. Despite him trying to tell administrators nothing happend to them This school is very bad with dealing with bullied kids. Keep in mind this kid has no mom, and has a dad that is barely around. This school is suppose to help the kid not defend the bullies. Terrible school!

My child attended Niguel Hills and enjoyed her years there as a student- Niguel Hills laid the foundation for her success in high school. As a parent, I felt that the administration, leadership, compassion for students' needs, and positive environment were all top notch.

Current administration is very supportive of students and parents. Teachers go above and beyond to connect with students and insure they are learning and thriving. There are a wide selection of programs for students to participate in such as theatre, choir, jazz band, orchestra, band, video production, Introduction to Spanish - as well as student leadership opportunities through ASB and PAL. Teachers and staff go above and beyond to sponsor the SRLA (Students Run LA Marathon) club to expose students to this great opportunity. Our students are thriving, and our community is strong.

Keep your kids out of this school!!! Admin does nothing to protect the students here from bullying or assaults by other children. School “policies” are not implemented at all, and admin regularly gaslights parents that advocate for their children’s rights and protection. The school is unsafe, toxic, does not follow its own stated policies, and the students suffer greatly as a result.

The stuff and teachers are amazing. How ever the commute traffic is horrible . My son was just hit by a car last week. I’m sure no body wants to see it happening to their kids.

I've only been at the school 5 months and i can tell you DONT SEND YOUR CHILD THERE. There is bullying and when you approach a teacher about it they tell you that we are in middle school and we shouldnt be fighting so she dosent care. One of my friends got beat up, in the chest and in the face and arm. It was one of the most painful things i had to see when i found him crying. AND the person who beat him up got suspended for 3 days. The kid had been known to beat up other people but no one cared let just suspend him for 3 days no big deal. Also the kid who got beat up was also suspended. THE SCHOOL IS HORRIBLE AND SO I ADVISE YOU TO NEVER SEND YOUR KID THERE

As a student i get builled every day. I get called every bad word you can think of. The school handles it terribly. If you dont want to get threaten or cussed out dont go to this school

I have 2 children at this school who are both very unhappy. They're grades are fine, they ARE learning because the teachers are doing their job and my girls are dedicated learners. The problem is definitely the bullying problems. I have spoke with many parents who are quite upset too. Yes, bullying can and does happen anywhere, but the problem is the staff is so passive about it. We wont be returning to this school.

the bullying is so bad at this school, its a joke!! The staff acts as if theyre doing something about it, but nothing , absolutely nothing gets done. My child is a special needs child. My child is subjected to constant emotional bullying. We have gone to the designated staff for this problem a few times, and they basically blow a lot of hot air ...you no where.
I am very very worried how this is affecting my child. Next I will be going to the district/ superintendent of OC schools if nothing is done. I am done! I should have to home school my child as an only option to get relief from bullying situations.

I went to Niguel hills for middle school and I have wonderful memories here. That's why my kids ended up here as well, and they love it at NHMS. It is a great school, with many wonderful teachers, principle, programs and clubs for the students to join. When transitioning from elementary to middle school there will always be a sort of shock for students and parents, like a bigger environment, and more homework. But once everyone gets in a routine and settled, they will adjust just fine. There tends to be a bit of bullying going on between the 6th graders, probably because they got away with it in elementary. But they have a bully box in the office where you can report anyone who is bullying anonymously. So that helps stop the behavior. Some parents need tips on parenting better, that's not the schools fault. Overall, Niguel Hills middle school is a great school, I wouldn't have my kids go anywhere else.

Hello. I am a student at NHMS. Things aren't horrible here. The GATE program is rough is sixth-grade. I mean REALLY tough. I'm talking three to four hours of homework, when the average amount should only be about thirty minutes per class. T he homework amount is awfu, but I feel like I am prepared for college now! I think seventh-grade will be easier though. Dress code sucks, you have to have cap sleeves! The teachers are great, but they have their flaws. They can't be perfect though, and I respect that.

My son is completing his second year at NHMS. We have found the teachers to involved and well prepared and the school to be very safe from bullying. I would highly recommend NHMS!

Niguel Hills is great! I am a student and I welcome the home work. The complainers should instead look at the amount of time students spend with TV, Games and Smart Phones and then reconsider their priorities. I also noticed complaints about homework by a GATE student, which contained numerous spelling and grammatical errors. Maybe "more" homework is the answer? Life is all about timing and priorities.

Niguel Hills, PLEASE keep inforcing the Dress Code. I frequently pick up my child from school and take notice to the obvious. This is Middle School. Who dresses these kids. Hoodies and sun glasses between classes and lunch? AND, where do they get all those Clown clothes? Not sure if I am at the curcus or a zoo!

From a student~ I will be entering eighth grade after this summer, and I really won't mind getting back! Niguel is a top notch school with teachers who care. From what I've seen here at the school, a majority of the one-star comments and COMPLETE exaggerations! Homework levels are manageable, unless, or course, you aren't diligent and serious (even if you're in the advanced/GATE like me!) Physical fights and rare, though I can't say the same for verbal bullying, being a victim myself. Rules are fair, but it may not seem that way to parents will children who are juvenile delinquents (the same ones guilty of verbal abuse). Teachers, for the most part, are care deeply for each of their students, helping them through difficulties with work. The only qualm I have is the large class sizes, detracting from the overall learning experience because teachers must do less individual help. What can you do though, with the U.S. and it's budget cuts.

My child will be in 8th grade this year at NHMS. Having spent 2 years at this school, we have had our ups and downs. 6th grade was outrageous, the amount of homework was unreasonable. My child is an A student and it took him 3-4 hours a night just to get through the homework and that did not include studying for tests. There was a definite shift in 7th grade and maybe it was the new round of teachers, but the amount of homework was much less and we had a very enjoyable year. Bullying should not happen ever but regrettably it exists everywhere. We had one incident and the teachers handled it quickly and that was the end of it. As far as the dress code is concerned, it is not onerous or unusual. I have a son and he is not permitted to dress like a thug, the girls are to dress conservatively no tube tops or short shorts. This is a place for learning not a runway, rave or a costume party. The school is crowded. 40 kids to a class and the teachers spend time doing crowd control and teaching time is reduced. At home help with homework will be required.

My child will now be entering 8th grade.Their whole school system is a mess.everything is so outdated nothing has been renovated since I had attended school their.very old technology as well.yet they are always having fundraisers!?teachers obisouly don't care about the learning quality.the staff is very rude.teachers are always piling on excessive amounts of homework.I'm not naming names but a teacher here is forgetful and doesn't write homework assignments on the board or doesn't make them clear to the students and the next day they come back with half the assignment not knowing their was more .they then get blamed for her forgetfulness.there is lots or physical and verbal bullying my child has been a victim and they don't do anything .my child has all so been bullied by staff. Dress code is rediculous.the rules are ridiculous as well.this school has been a horrible experience for my child

My 1st review of NHMS was so raw and real that it was rejected for public posting. My boys' experiences @ NH were no OC beach walks. From staff to students there is constant pressure, bullying (yes, from staff!), physical fights amongst students, and, if yours finally wins against the bully, the once underdog gets suspended for standing up for himself! Endless hours of homework. Buildings are overcrowded and older than we parents are and NOT updated in any way shape or form, yet, there are constant fundraisers...hmmm?! It's OC, so, no school bus system, only public trans. No matter the amt of classroom work your child does, the test scores are what determine your childs overall grade. Hv an A one day, fail 1 test and HELLO! C the next. We had to put our boys in Tae Kwon Do and Jiu Jitsu. Once the school yr was over, one of our boys graduated to Dana Hills HS (Great School) the other we sent to Santiago Charter School in Orange to AVOIDthis nightmare again.

too much homework, bullying and stress. teachers never help like they should. the dress code is ridiculous. the food is terrible and the whole school is so old, it looks like its going to fall apart.

I agree with the most recent comments. Dress code is pretty ridicules and inconsistent. as are most rules in this school. I don't see that it is too much homework but more that there is no accountability for HW and the teachers really don't seem to care at all about each student. It is overcrowded as well. I have an 8th grader and a 9th grader who both spent three years here. They did not have any issues socially but I do know that other kids have. The office staff often seem to be under a great deal of stress so I think that is where the rudeness comes from. Overall I am sorry I choose this school and hope my kids will do better in another school district for their high school education.

Way to much homework!!! Most teachers don't care about the kids learning!Too much bullying that goes on and nothing is done about it! The teachers cram way to much homework in at the last minute and have lots of hard tests! Dress Code has been a major issue and nothing has been done about it!!! Now with two weeks remaining in the school year they decide to hand out punishment for Dress Code. The front office is very mean and rude to children and parents!This has not been a good experience!!!!
