Los Alisos Intermediate School

My son missed some english classes, but when he turned in the work a few days later, he was told it wasn't accepted for credit. He didn't understand what counted for credit which made it confusing.

He also didn't feel comfortable getting help in that class when he needed it, and he didn't want to talk to the principal because he didn't want it to affect him more in class.

We talked with other staff and teachers. They were understanding, but there wasn't a clear way to fix it, and things didn't really get better. Other families said they had similar experiences in english class the past few years .

They cater to a specific demographic for sure. It should be inclusive for ALL students, but sadly it is not!The only positive I can share is the hard working Vice Principal…. she actually tried to keep the kids in line. Lots of people in the area try to school choice out of there and for very good reasons!
They recommended my daughter really didn’t need her IEP anymore but said they would still “support” her…. they didn’t and things got pretty bad…. disappointing!!

This school is full of bullies. Not recommended. Many bullying includes racism, discrimination, physical bullying, verbal bullying, and gossip. The kids here has no integrity at all. Everywhere I look, I see kids on videogames when they aren't suppose to, kids with their phones out, and kids constantly break rules here all the time.

I remember my experience in Los Alisos, I remember as a 7th grader in 2018 I made a whole lot of friends I never knew I have never made because I was always a shy kid and I made a ton of friends, I think the thing that I probably remember the most is how much I used to interact with the school I remember going every day with a smile on my face. I highly recommend this school, but times have changed probably since then now I'm a high schooler and time flies so quickly I wish I can turn back time to the good old days.

Because we are a Title 1 school, our teachers receive more training and professional development than any other middle school in the district. Our teachers are wonderful at what they do.

We don't have to say much more than our school being recognized nation-wide as a Platinum Level PBIS school. PBIS is a comprehensive program focused on Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. It is completely focused on teaching students how to have strong character.

We have a very strong administrative team who cares about the school deeply. More than that, our Secondary Chairs (teacher leaders) are fantastic and meet monthly with admin to make important decisions for the school as a whole.

Because our teachers are so strong and because we have a full-time Guidance Counselor and a Psychologist on campus five days a week, we take great pride in the support we give to each of our students. No student learns the same way, and we support this through differentiation and proper student placement.

We not only have an expectation assembly completely focused on bullying, but we support this through our anti-bullying week, our 21 Days of Kindness, our Text-a-Tip Hotline, and through a very clear procedure for dealing with bullying once it has begun. But the best way we combat bullying is through our site-wide STOP, WALK, TALK protocol.

Our teachers meet weekly with our Professional Learning Community to fine tune their homework practices and to ensure they are being used for practice and to support the learning happening within the classroom.

I had two children go through this school in the last 3 years. Worst 3 years of schooling we've experienced. If it weren't for the Spanish Immersion Program, they would have gone to a different middle school. There are very few good teachers, maybe 3-4 the rest of them have this I'm better than you attitude. It is apparent teachers are unhappy at this school, no help when asking for extra help with keeping grades up. I had a response from a Math teacher when asking for assistance with a homework, math pages to use, websites etc. His response, it's all review. Very disappointed with the staff at Los Alisos and thankful our time there is over.

My homeroom teacher discouraged the entire class to not participate in a homeroom competition because there was no prizes. Also the vice principal frequently singled out a certain group of students and did not allow them to do many things other students were allowed to do, such as wearing any belts or hats.

Teachers taught us different methods, but we were required to use each and every method, so although we could come up with the correct solution one way, we could not with the other way.

Adults do not notice the bullying and that resulted in the suicides of some students.

There would be some weeks where I came home with little to no homework, while some other weeks I stayed up until 2 in the morning every night finishing it.

During my time at Los Alisos, I believe my respect for adults has greatly diminished. One of my teachers encouraged us to disregard everything our previous teachers had taught us because she was apparently "going to teach us more".

It was horrible and everyone, including the adults and students, make you feel like you're worth nothing. I truly believe that the year I was in was the worst year that Los Alisos has had.

Teachers are nice, other students are nice, and its fun here. The ASB is a little boring, but that's not the actual point. I have learned a lot here and I'll just put it like that.

This school is a big disappointment , the students are pretty intimidating sometimes and all but we rarely learn anything in class. People were noisy and the teachers are just trying to shut them up for the whole time. The class is really behind in every subject I have. Some students get bullied because of their race or religion especially Asians and Muslims. And other students brag about things that they shouldn't brag about, like the usage of drug and alcohol.and for some reason once someone pulled the fire alarm for an unknown reason and we missed most of that period. I don't recommend this school since I want to move back myself and the police often goes to check our school to catch those troublemakers.

Los Alisos destroyed me. In other words, it ripped out my soul and tore it into pieces, before shoving it back in and sending me off to high school. I came as a bright, happy 7th grader. I left with severe depression and social anxiety. Not only was the curriculum uninteresting and taught me nothing, but there was bullying and an overall judgmental attitude that the teachers did nothing about. I came to the principal several times because of the teasing, but absolutely nothing was done, and my tormentors got away with it easily. I hated going to school, and I did not feel safe there at all. I dreaded each and every day, and even had to leave the classroom several times as the relentless teasing drove me to the edge. I would not recommend this school, especially not if you seek a welcoming and nurturing environment for your child.

I was very satisfied with the education this school provided for my son. The honors program is outstanding and is a great foundation for transitioning into high school as proven by my son's success.
