High School absolute does not care about staff or contractors. You will be removed from the school after being hit and cursed out by one of the students. When you take it to the office and let them know they act like you're the problem. The school still has not stood up to do anything about the damage of my vehicle that the student has caused. But they're very very good at letting you go so they don't have to take responsibility for the negligence of their students and then you will be treated like it was your fault that the student hits you and cursed you out. As a parent I would never allow this. As a staff you guys are horrible you don't support you don't stand by nothing my child has an opportunity to go to this high school I will put him somewhere else due to the fact of the negligence of the staffing and how you guys do not support you're not kind or friendly

We are fortunate to be zoned for this high school. Not only is it deep rooted in tradition with fantastic community and alumni support but the campus itself is well-behaved and the student population is a lot smaller than other local high schools that have around 3000 kids. I like how it has a small School almost a private school vibe. Athletics are a huge part of this campus and the spirit that goes along with it. But they do offer a lot of activities for kids who aren’t competitive in sports. When my daughter was in middle school and we went to the high school showcase, they had hundreds of tables with different clubs and activities, and every one was enthusiastic about what they were about. I also love the principal and the vice principal who immediately addressed a concern I had during the first week of school and resolved it immediately.

Four of our children attended and graduated from Mission Viejo High School. All four had different needs both academically and with extra curricular activities. I can't say enough about how amazing this school is and how well they accommodated each of of children's different needs.

Our eldest buy has just completed their first year there. He went from an 'A' grade middle school kid to a 'D' grade freshman in most subjects. This was all based on missing homeworks. His classwork is still A/B level. Not once did a tracher reach out to us to see how they could help.
The school has no study planning techniques type lessons on offer, not even out of school.

Some teachers set zero homework, others massive amounts. The only communication to the students is a scribble on a whiteboard or a verbal. If you don't catch that you're stuck.

Teachers are not held accountible. No parent teacher involvment. They genuinely don't care if your kid is failing.

The place is just too big to create the "family atmosphere" needed for this.

There is no consistency with homework as it is entirely up to the teacher. Some teachers give daily heavy load homework and others do not give homework at all. Grading homework is inconsistent too

My kids have been there for 3 years and I am happy with the experience. However, there should be better supervision of teachers as far as grading and homework policies. I am also very disappointed that when my son broke his collar bone playing lacrosse for the school 10 days ago, no one called to check on him or ask how he is

I have loved every second at Mission and there is nothing I would change about my experience. I have had wonderful teachers and guidance counselors who ade there for me and always ready to help. One thing I would stress though is that you do need to reach out and ask. If you just tell the office about any issues with a teacher or another student, or you tell the teacher that you don’t understand, you will get help. The school pride, especially with regards to sports, arts, and academics, is something that drives students to want to live up to the high expectations of the school. I also love that there is something for everyone; there is literally a lettuce club. I know that my experiences in water polo, swim, choir, drama, MUN, and AP/IB might be different from those of say a football player with a deep love of journalism and raising sheep, but I have no doubt that no matter who you are or what you’re into, you will love Mission, too.

Most of them will truly go the extra mile to help a student where they are struggling if the student is willing to put in the extra effort.

The culture of the school is one in which fighting and bullying are unacceptable, and perpetrators generally are caught and disciplined. However, the AP/IB programs and the pressure that come with them make cheating rampant and often unpunished, which is terrible.

The new APs are energetic and they really do care, but some of the practices (e. g. tutorial sweeps, ID checks at lunch) are either stupid or so lax that they don’t accomplish anything. Fantastic supervising staff though, they are homies.

Mission Viejo High is well known for its great sports programs, especially football. Unfortunately their academic achievement is far from where it should be. We had a less than stellar experience when it came to getting more help from teachers and good communication with Mission. Even the assistant principal admitted they could not force teachers to come before school or stay after because it wasn't in their "contract". Guidance was horrible too. We have since moved to the East coast where the public schools are much better and we get the help we need. If you are going to this school you better be prepared to be proactive in your students academics because they won't do a thing to help you.

Not only is there a dispute with the district and teachers regarding their salaries, several players were recently removed from the varsity football team for their poor grades just before entering the CIF playoffs. All of the students, sports and clubs at the school are being negatively impacted by this dispute and frankly it will not be tolerated much longer by the community. Teachers, get your act together and step up to the academic reputation that is MVHS.

There seem to be salary disputes going on in the district. As a result, some of the teachers are beginning to refuse to post grades and issue college recommendations, effectively holding the futures of their college-bound students hostage. The kids deserve more from their teachers and the district.

Mission is truly a great school. It has the strongest selection of highly acclaimed programs in Orange County like the IB program, the Agriculture Program, Athletic Program, Performing Arts Program, and Model United Nations program. There are great opportunities for students to get involved and receive some amazing training and experiences in these outstanding areas. Also - the teaching staff in general is very supportive, communicates well with parents, and works well with students who are having problems.

Our family has had the most amazing 'ride' while at MVHS. The education has been over the top impressive, the teachers and administration first class, the people we have met along the way, priceless. Our kids have made life long friendships. Our kids have gone on to major Colleges with confidence and pride. We are so grateful. Thank you MVHS for everything! Truly an outstanding institution! A+!!

While everything looks like a pretty package on the outside with the great sports programs etc, the reality is this school is just like all the other public high schools in Orange County. Average. We had very little support from teachers as well as guidance counselors this year, only getting important information about our students progress when it was too late to do anything about it. There was little if any response from guidance when asking for help and administration just shrugs and says "there is nothing we can do they are on contract" There is no excuse for this when its taxpayer money going in to these schools. Teachers should be expected to stay after school and help struggling students instead of parents having to hire expensive tutors to get them by. Enough with the excuses! All students deserve the best teachers in the classrooms each and every year and this is not happening. Not even at Mission. There are great reviews from students and parents of AP/IB students but the reality is this is a small percentage of the actual graduating class. Teachers keep doing the same things expecting great results but the reality is, test scores don't lie!
