Our son received great support from the teachers and administrators. The STEAM program is the main reason we sent our son here. We were impressed on the different assignments he received. He loves the school and we appreciate how hard the teachers worked especially during distance learning.

I'm really happy with the middle school experience our son had at Serrano, the bar has been set high as we now move on to El Toro HS!

I think across the board all public schools require too much homework. I don't think Serrano is more or less than any of the other SVUSD schools

Our son was in honors classes and the majority of his teachers were good to excellent.

School definitely encourages strong character, this year they hosted a Rachel's Challenge assembly for both students and parents (separately) which was very impactful.

Principal Young is a really amazing leader for the school who brings a lot of passion and energy to the school to help the teachers, staff and students excel.

I can't complain. With my first two, it was pretty manageable. Not too many pointless or busywork assignments. Projects seemed to have value.

Serrano tries hard to stomp out bullying and to encourage good values. But I'm not sure most of the kids are getting the message. My kids report lots of swearing and "jerk" kids. But good values are taught best at home. If they're not learning it there, the school can only do so much to fix it.

Great teachers, helpful office staff, innovative teaching,, good selection of electives with something for everyone, administration takes reports of bullying seriously. I've had kids there for the last three years, and am about to start another one there.

Creative teaching, meaningful projects, hands-on project-based learning. I've been happy with all but one or two of my kids 20+ teachers at Serrano.

This is my first year at Serrano Intermediate School. I am in all honors classes, and I know that the Honors System is excellent. We take several field trips in the Honors Program, such as to the Getty Museum. The teachers are all friendly and helpful, along with the staff. School counselors and staff are amazing, and every teacher is excellent at their profession. - Jason (7th Grader as of 2015)

I love this school! The teachers are always making sure that we are learning and that we are getting the right amount of education and we are one the best schools. Though we are serious in our studies, we still love to have fun. We have the best middle school dances in the whole district and we have a lot of activities during lunch and break.

Reading the one star ratings makes me realize how truly awesome this school really is for my child. My child read them and asked me why there are only a few one star ratings and so many five star ratings. I asked her what she though and she had this to say, 'From reading the one star comments it seems like they were either students who were not involved, or a parent who wants their child to have a statue of them on school grounds for being in honors.'

Serrano Intermediate has been a very positive experience for my son thus far. He will be in 8th grade this year and looks forward to high school.

As a prospective educator, I observed English and History classes at Serrano Intermediate School and was amazed at the quality of education. Courses were taught in an engaging way for students, with one teacher providing the class with advanced technology, another with interactive group activities, and the last with a well-known song spoof of the Declaration of Independence. English as a Second Language is taught by a very competent and published educator. I would rate this school very highly.
