Why are people so rude to new kids that aren't "pretty". First, some of the children here are a HOT MESS and don't understand the consequences of their actions, thinking that popularity will save them, someone slap some senses into these kids! Secondly, the safety here at this school is out of control, this is not a ZOO!! It's a place to LEARN, be RESPECTFUL, PAWASTIVE, AND PRODUCTIVE!!! The sayings are not adding up at all!!!
Overall, get your crazy, rude kids under control, and this school is a hot mess, fix your management.

This isnt a school, its a zoo. There are fights almost every day. Students assaulted in the bathrooms because they know there is no cameras. The students dont fear any consequences because there rarely are any consequences. On the rare occasion a student is assigned detention, theres no follow through to ensure the student actually attends, and the students know it. The admin team is more concerned with stopping students filming and posting fights than they are about actually stopping the fights. This school is an absolute joke and the district should be ashamed of the hell it has turned into under the current administration team.

I've had two children go through this school 12 years apart. Much has changed in that time. Since COVID things seem to have changed drastically at this school. Most of the teachers my child has are amazing but they are fighting battles they shouldn't have to. The level of disrespect from students and lack of parental engagement is shocking and disappointing. The political leanings of parents have easily spilled over into anger and resentment dating all the way back to the requirement to wear masks and their children are now spewing the hatred and disrespect the parents displayed two years ago. Instead of my daughter's teachers being able to teach their given subjects, they are handling continuous behavior problems from the same small group of kids. Likewise, the school has their hands tied as the law no longer allows them to expell kids from school. Honestly, it feels like the school needs to have an on-campus suspension location for the kids who clearly aren't being disciplned at home and clearly are not able to respect the school setting. That way they can hopefully learn at school without completely upending the education of their peers. It makes me sad this is the world my daugther lives in. This isn't unique to Lincoln but the anti-intellectualism movement has a foothold in this town, starting with at least a couple members of the school board. I'm hopeful with the changing migration of families, from other areas of California that embrace a quality education, we will see changes. The scores for this school, in my opinion, are NOT a reflection of the teachers (WPUSD Is one of the highest paying districts in the area) and a child can still get a good education, BUT parents MUST become more engaged in parenting their children, setting limits, limiting social media and set expectations regarding behavior.

This school has disciplinary issues but of course all schools have those so it isn't that different. Personally the teachers I have met have all been nice to me. I also feel like there is a lot of support here for the students that need it which is always good.

GEMS has few teachers that truly care, and even fewer students that care for their own academics. This isn't elementary school. It starts at home, make your children responsible and accountable for there actions and school work.parents please have your kids leave there phones and I pods at home. I've walked those halls and assisted teachers many times, seen first hand the lack of respect, responsibility, and accountability from the students. Getting on there phones taking pictures in class, there is 1 teacher to try to control the class, if the child is taught these fundamentals at home it will carry on to school. I've seen teachers who look like they just give up. These students bcuz there r so many that don't care what there actions do, selfishly they r taking away from the students who do. Complaints and concerns , go to the district office they cannot ignore all of us. Also teachers who make assignments due week or weeks later isn't working. They end up disorganized and behind themselves. Aeries program usually isn't updated timely, or not updated with what has been turned in. Office staff there is 2 of them.

Overall a good school with great teachers. Unfortunately there is new administration that is taking away a lot of what made this school great. The new principal cares more about test scores and running the school like a business, than he cares about the kids.

The history teacher is failing almost all his students. The new principal is completely misguided and the morale is beyond low. This school has some really great teachers - and some that clearly have burnout, ie. history teacher. Clearly doesn't care if the kids pass or fail.

This school is GARBAGE! The principal is terrible! Won't let kids wear beanies to school in 30 degree weather unless they're purchased from the student store. He also gossips about students and has lowered the entire student bodies morale. Oh, and most of the teachers are garbage too. The science teacher and the math teachers are the only truly good educators.

Glenn Edwards middle school is primarily fit for non English speaking students, teachers assign homework to be completed a week later, these kids at this age can barely remember what they did a week before, admin is ok ,I'm talking just front office. V.P. Principal treat parents poorly, specially if we dont speak english well. All grades have dropped. There seems to be more personality conflicts then ever, but instead they allow an environment of "counseling", where parents are not called in, kids get to speak how ever they want to whomever they want, without consequences,a few days a week. As a parent , how can we even start to help our kids, when they have to sit there with a counselor present and bully eachother. It doesn't end at the counseling office, oh no, that is just a starting audience with an adult, authority figure. Looking at this schools overall scores. I'm sorry I didn't see it before. Glenn Edwards middle school needs stronger , more positive admin, people at the school district who sit in the office very quietly, need to make some noise because all of kids are affected. Tutorting where is it? They need more parents involved, let us know where.
