I am an indigenous male and was bullied by a group of boys for having long hair. Another time was when a kid got me yelled at for having water in the locker room. After that he kept avoiding me for no reason. (We had never met before that) and not even a month later I catch him saying the n word with no shame whatsoever. One of my teachers made me cry one time and I was sent home after. I only miss Coach De Lamarter because he was kind enough to bring my grade up just so I could pass his class. I am so thankful for him and Im so sad I wont see him again.

This middle school is the worse they don't support kids with disabilities. They protect bullies and let bullies be mean to kids with disabilities. Worse school ever.

This school does not teach they ask you questions you know the answers to and will never tell you. I have only had two teachers that I have actually learned stuff from and they were elective teachers. I never had problems with academics in 6th grade but 7th and 8th grade was a whole other problem, they dont tell you about work thats due and they expect you to remember to do it. Also they assign multiple stuff a day without knowing other teachers are also doing that making their students stressed more than they have ever been stressed. Some students even vape in the bathrooms hoping for a better feeling then what they would feel like in this horrible environment called a classroom. Do NOT take your kids here.

AVOID THIS SCHOOL IF YOU CAN!!!
This school is awful! My daughter has been going there less than 2 months and I am ready to pull her out of school! Teachers are mean and jaded (at least the ones she was fortunate enough to get) ! We have had valuables stolen from my daughters backpack.
My daughter has always loved going to school and participating in class, she is now anxious to be in class because the two teachers she has have made it impossible for her to focus on learning as they are constantly yelling at her for silly things such as turning around; she got in trouble for giving another student a pencil because he didnt have one!
Teachers are unapproachable and mean! Bad vibes all around!

I have to say that this school is truly amazing. Back in elementary school, I used to get Fs on tests, but now I am in full honor courses at Hillsdale! Most of the teachers are wonderful and have helped me improve my weaknesses. Not to mention, this school has a wide range of elective options to choose from! The school hours at Hillsdale are also great, which allows students to get more sleep. I highly recommend attending here. It's the best education I've ever received!

I was a former student here, and let me tell you. This pathetic excuse for a school destroyed my mental health, self-worth, and happiness. There are only two good teachers on the entire campus, the principal does not care whatsoever, the students are EXTREMELY low-class people, and not to mention the fighting, drug, and vaping problems. I was bullied the whole time I was there by my peers because I didnt vape, I didnt listen to rap, I didnt do drugs, and I didnt get into fights. It was a three-year hell that you couldnt pay me to go back to. I feel dumber than when I first came here. I graduated from this "school" with zero new knowledge in the academic category. The only thing I learned was to keep my mouth shut and my interests and thoughts to myself. You get made fun of RELENTLESSLY for so much as BREATHING wrong. If youre thinking about sending your child here, PLEASE DONT. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD, SEND THEM TO A PRIVATE SCHOOL. If you dont have the money for that, just homeschool them. Its the exact same thing. You wont get yanked out of a stool by the hair because you had the AUDACITY to stand up for yourself when you were being bullied. You wont get dozens of snide remarks and rude comments made about you every single day. Theres nobody talking about you behind your back, and there are no bad influences to turn you into somebody youre not. I was a perfectly happy kid before becoming a student here. Ive become scared of people my age now. Not only that, but I have depression, anxiety, and other problems because of the three years I spent at this "school". Thank you for reading.

I went to this school 20 years ago and it was awful. Teachers and administration have zero accountability. Whats worse, they lack empathy when dealing with students. Im a teacher now and this school taught me what NOT to do.

All in all it was an okay experience. Academically it was easy and honestly too easy. Students werent challenged enough. With drama and bullying I dont think administrators were very good at helping solving it some admins come off very cold and unhelpful. A lot of admins made bad decisions on how to solve problems around the school. Electives are definitely a really good thing about the school, theres a wide range and the teachers are nice. But, the pe system is worst thing Ive ever experienced. Dont get me started on how unfair and unorganized these pe classes were. So many kids at the same grade level were given different tasks. Some classes were way easier than others. A lot of the coaches come off as vain and cold. They were too demanding and strict on kids. They made kids run way too much and ironically, it just made pe an unhealthy experience. So many kids would literally get sick to not go to pe, we literally loathed going to pe. The environment in pe wasnt great either kids were let to do or say anything. Kids in pe were very toxic and no one got involved to help, not one adult. The pe system needs to be payed attention to, many kids are suffering because of it. Its messed up and never spoken about, we are just expected to go with it because its healthy and were getting exercise but instead it was a very unhealthy experience for me. I dreaded going to school because of pe. Pe needs to be discussed more.

The vice principles are not helpful to anyone they don't let you talk, are unapproachable and make kids terrified instead of resolving the issues. Another problem I have with the vice principles are how they always sound like they are mad at you

The dress code is ridiculous. My child can't find anything in stores that meets the dress code restrictions. The teachers are good, but the drama program includes a religious song at the end of their performances- not appropriate for a public school. I'm pulling my child from the drama program and filing a complaint.

Academically kids that are easily instructed should do fine. Don't expect anything beyond. If your child isn't doing well they will throw ZANGLE in your face and make it yours and the child's fault. Many parents I know have had this issue. The PE department is a horrible joke, your child will run laps, and not much more, in fact many kids just learn to loath PE. Ironic for a department supposed to be developing health for life mentalities. Shameful

Don't listen to the other reviewers, this school has petty rules that only serve to make you realize they control you. It's full of elitists snobs and bigots the school only serves to crush your individuality. I went through horrible depression at this school like many others. Just because this school has high test scores doesn't mean you should send your kid here, have a little value for your child's psychological well being and realize that your child will get very similar grades at another school, and that most of it is based on YOUR child's intelligence and his/her willingness to learn. So in recap if you love herd mentality and hate your kid send them here.

We were an inter-district transfer from LMSVSD and I heard it was impossible to get into here but we did it and am so glad. This school is downright amazing. My daughter is in Honors level classes and loves all her teachers. She's also in Band and thinks very highly of Mr. Caldwell; he gets the kids motivated to practice and results are wonderful. The "zangle" system of checking student's grades 24/7 is great as is the communication from the school about upcoming events and other important info. I like how educated and caring the teachers are; they are dedicated and I truly feel that my daughter is getting an A+ education at this school. Keep up the great work, Hillsdale!

This school is great. My daughter is a 7TH grader there and always comes home with a smile. All the teachers are really Nice except the music teacher Mr. Reed. She had some problems with him but there music program is great All students and kids are great and nice. Also very welcoming. Thete education is the best out of all schools so far. For hight school she will be going to Steele Canyon High School. Or Valhalla High School. This middle school is the best. She always has fum with the staff. She always tells me they are cool and have fun. School lunch is also very good as sge says it is. Enroll your child to HMS today.
