My only negative comment, unfortunately, is that some of the traffic control staff can be rude and inconsistent in how they treat parents. They seem to allow certain parents to drop off their children at the yellow curb while denying the same privilege to others. In addition, their manner of speaking to parents is often disrespectful, as though we work for them, which is completely unacceptable. Aside from this issue, the school is excellent, and the principal is wonderful, kind, and highly supportive.

The front desk white lady so rude keeps yelling at parents and acting like she doing us a favorite. Lady you are doing your job if you hate it leave it. Acting busy when just answering question or checking two kids in. This the job you signed up for otherwise you be at home applying for benefits.

As a former student of this school, I can say with confidence that it is an amazing place to learn. The teachers are exceptional and make learning enjoyable for all students, be it math or reading. Although there may be some instances of bullying, the teachers are quick to address and resolve such issues. Many of my fellow students who attended this school with me went on to excel in full honor courses in middle school. I highly recommend this school above all others.

We absolutely love RSD. This school has been fabulous for our daughters and we are grateful for the fun and educational environment that RSD provides. We came to RSD in first grade as our first year and the school and staff were extremely welcoming and helpful with the transition from our other school. We are looking forward to many more years to come.

We are a military family that moved in the middle of the year. I was so happy to find out what a wonderful welcoming school RSD was. Within days the office staff new our name, could recognize the kids. The principal is always outside in the mornings greeting the kids many by name. This is a large school with a small school feel! The teacher's are amazing! They balance out the curriculum with lots of hands on projects requiring the students to build skills in multiple areas! I am so happy, I hope we can stay here for a long time!!

I hardly doubt that "Second and third grade are dropping the ball" based on recent API performance scores. Perhaps the influx of second language students from outside of the Rancho community and the inclusion of resource students has had an impact on standardized test scores over the last few years. The clientele being tested at Rancho is not the same as it was in the past. If you think this does not have an impact on overall test scores then you are sadly mistaken. Class size has also been increased twenty percent over the past two years. Research shows that student teacher ratio impacts learning and overall test performance. I agree that combo classes are not good for students and teachers alike. However, during tough economic times they become a necessity.

Second and third grade are dropping the ball. API use to be much higher at this school. Valhalla and Hillsdale are outperforming RSD and the curriculum should be easier to teach. I noticed the difference in scores after the last principal arrived. Coincidence? My raings are neutral because of this. Also, from a teacher's perspective, combo classes are never a good idea.

Although our 14 yr. old is now at Valhalla, Rancho remains a warm, loving memory of great teachers and a wonderful school. Savannah has been asked to do her high school community service there and she is really looking forward to putting in the hours. A wonderful school!!!!!
