We love Vista Grande! The teachers are all amazing and there are a lot of after-school clubs kids can join. We also have our own school
song that our singing group, The Vista Lairs sing and helps the kids be proud of their school. We have Millie the mustang (Hourse) mascot who is at almost every event. The kids love it. The Cat and the Hat also makes an appearance every year on Dr. Seuss day and reads to each classroom and causes mischief during lunchtime. Our principal Mrs. Bautista is so friendly and caring and makes herself very accessible. All of the kids seem to love her. Our PTA does a great job of organizing fun, family events but not so many that you feel like its just one more thing to do. My only complaint is pick-up and drop-off are not easy because the parking lot is tiny and can get confusing with kids and staff everywhere, and Vista Grande rd. is a busy road and people drive too fast on it during school times.

This school staff some of them are very rude and nasty. Your traffic and ploy ease are very rude and mean and nasty. They do not make you feel good at the school. The school makes you feel inadequate, Ive only been involved two days the beginning of the school year to days and I have not felt welcomed at all and I dont know why the principal puts up with it or if thats just their norm or they feel its OK I dont know, but its very depressing and upsetting

From being a student myself, to a students mother, I am happy to say I never worry about the education and family values and morals my child will come home with. The individual care and attention each child receives is heartwarming and above and beyond.

The teachers follow their guidelines, yet still teach other options/ways which get the students thinking more and that creates a more well rounded child.

They will sit one on one and help a student and even a parent, when and if needed.

A big value is placed on compassion and it shows that they reward good behavior.

Met with staff including principle, counselor, psychologist, teacher and resource officer. All seemed highly equipped to answer some tough questions and create a plan specific to our Childs needs.

We had to approach teachers and staff with a struggling child and ask for help. If we had not done this I believe he would have fallen through the cracks.

I would like to see an improvement when it comes to peer to peer relationships and the steps taken more seriously when bullying exists. It seems that their are too many disrespectful students. (Mine included) and there isn't much communication with parent involvement.

We have spent 3 years at this school. Our child has struggled with grades, social issues and is not engaged in the learning process. I believe the school is ready, willing and able to help your child but the parent must be the one to take the initiative. Once I did that the attention we received was excellent.

I went to private school 12 years, so naturally I was concerned about public education. In addition to being academically challenging, we have found Vista Grande to be a supportive, caring, community oriented, child centric environment. Our twin daughters have had wonderful teachers who are appreciative for parent involvement and conscience about making academic progress. The staff and the teachers have consistently communicated with us and they know our names. As a new parent at the school, I was happy to make new friends and get involved through PTA and over the past 3 years my daughters, husband and I have made lifelong friends. I am pleased with the academic achievement, parent involvement and commitment of the staff and teachers at Vista Grande. The value is here, it is not just a facade ... it is real!

My daughter attended this school from K thru third grade. She was an A/B student and it was not until we had her tested at a private school that we learned she was behind in her grade level. This school will teach your child how to take a test but not much else. The teacher handed out candy everyday for good behavior and the learning environment was chaotic. There is a lack of security at the school and I never felt comfortable dropping my kids off and knowing anyone can walk on campus at anytime and have access to the children. We pulled both of our children out of the over crowded classrooms mid year and it was the best decision we've made! It took a summer of high priced tutors to get my daughter ready for any of the private schools we were considering. Don't be fooled by this schools test scores or your childs good grades.
