My child has gone to this school for 4 years now. She has had the best possible experience with kind, supportive teachers, great peers, and a supportive, enthusiastic principal. The culture at this school is so positive and has kept my child engaged and happy throughout the years. I love that the principal personally greets each child every morning while playing uplifting music for the students to start their day feeling excited and valued. We are so grateful!

One of the teachers, which 2 of my siblings have had, refuses to listen to a problem if there is an argument between students. At one point she had covered her ears and sang "La la la" mockingly to show her annoyance when a child tried to talk to her. She has now created a "Tattle-tale jar" in which she explained if you have a desire to "tattle" on another student do not come to her, but instead write your complaint on a piece of paper and put it in the jar. The complaints in the jar never get dealt with or further mentioned. This is upsetting because it teaches children that if one is having an issue to not reach out to an adult, as it is "tattling", not seeking help.

My kids enjoy the school, and you can tell the teachers put in a lot of effort teaching the kids.

We absolutely love this school and the school spirit. The community is amazing and teachers are the best. Ive watched my son advance in so many ways! He was behind in almost everything and the teachers got him to become a success story. He is now top of the class across the board.

There is no leadership at this school. Students are not treated as individuals, and there is not enough onsite support to help kids with stress or behavioral issues. For all of the funding this school receives, it is not put towards the children.

From my experience this principal ruses students into special education

This school is over crowded and kids are shuffled between activities in a school that is much too small. Its a stressful environment for both students and staff. The school is run down and dated and no funds have been slated for improving the classrooms or giving students access to technology. Their disciplinary actions are all over the place, and its clear they don't have proper staff in place to handle the amount of students that they have.

Principal sweeps issues under the rug instead of actually protecting young children. My 6yr old daughter was assaulted in a girls bathroom and the boys just said wasnt me and it went away.

When bullies are accused all they have to do is say I didnt do it and thats the end of it. Kids are roaming campus without supervision on a regular basis.

We had high hopes but will be leaving the school ASAP.

I am on my third child going to Magnolia and it's been a joy. The teachers are wonderful. Mr. Nelson has done a great job bringing technology to the school. Nothing bad to say.

Great Experience. The parents, staff and teachers are top notch.

Mr. Nelson is dismissive and rude to every concern we have had. We have tried reaching out and asked for support from him, but he is condescending.
Posted: February 3, 2018
Our childs academic needs have not been met. The teacher has no idea how to make modifications and adjustments to the curriculum. When Ive requested them, I was told she would get to It in a few months. Unacceptable.

My son was bullied and there was nothing done about It by teacher or admin
Posted: February 3, 2018
They have monthly character traits, but students arent held accountable. Bullying and physical altercations are common. Little is done to fix It.
Posted: February 3, 2018
They say they have a no homework policy, but my 1st grader has about 3 hours worth daily. The teacher marks them down if they dont complete It.
Posted: February 3, 2018
The absolute worst. I wouldnt send any child here. We are removing our child from this shithole immediately.
Posted: January 20, 2018
The principal Mr nelson treats his job more like a popularity contest.
Posted: January 20, 2018
They isolate children with lerning differences. The child winds up secluded.
Posted: January 20, 2018
My children were bullied, and nothing was done to prevent it. They "educated" the class on bullying.
Posted: January 20, 2018
The teachers are in a click and don't treat all students or parents equal.
Posted: January 20, 2018
There is a bully problem at this school, and no diversity.
Posted: January 20, 2018
They seem to give the kids more busy work than a challenge.
Posted: January 20, 2018
I would give it a 3/10. The people and teachers are fake. Kindergarten is only 3 hours with the hours being convienent for stay at home mothers. Don't expect a helpful staff. They are attempting to better their school, but it is in desperate need of upgrades.

We moved to this area because of the schools. When my daughter started we went through a few different principles in the first few years. A little rough! Then along came Mr. Hines a past teacher from a sister school. He has changed our school in every way. It is now the best school and a very pleasant school to be at. He knows all the kids and greets them as they get to school. He is still with us and hope he stays. Couldn't ask for a better principal and a better school!!

Magnolia is a fantastic small school in the heart of Old Carlsbad! We have experienced teachers, involved parents, and many extra enriching educational programs such as Art, PE, Garden, Science Day and many more that our parents support. Under Mr. Hines' phenomenal leadership our little school has made leaps and bounds. Only greater things to come in this school's future.

My daughter is currently half way through her kindergarten year! She has been so excited to go to school everyday and is always disappointed when it isn't a school day... As a teacher (in another district), I have been very impressed with all the technology that the students and staff members have access to, how many "extras" they squeeze in every week (art, music, PE, etc.), and the wonderful community feel that the school has! We have been very happy with our daughter's first elementary school experience and can't wait for our younger daughters to join her!

We love Magnolia! My son has been at this school for two years now and I have nothing but great things to say. The teachers are great! The academics are strong and the principal is a strong leader. The school is small and has a strong community feel. I'm very happy we have this great school in our neighborhood.
