My daughter gets wonderful support at this school. The teachers have done a terrific job with her IEP and helped to gradually reduce her services.

My child goes to this school, and she came home and told me that she wanted to kill herself because of how racist and unfair this school is, the treated her so terrible.

My son has told me multiple times of bullying at recess that is not noticed by teachers.

1 star. Get on the transfer list and just hope you are lucky to get transferred out

For K Students, there was never any homework. I think it should start at an early age and should be something simple that may take 10-15 minutes. Starting early starts good study habits.

My son excelled at TK while he attended Fletcher Hills Elementary. Fletcher Hills was not our "assigned" location so he attended Northmont. My son went from excelling and loving school to hating it. My son does have ADHD and I took him to a specialist in Los Angeles who stated he was bored and unchallenged. Positive reinforcement was not used. His teacher recommended that he should take ADHD medication so in addition to the ADHD specialist I took him to Rady's and met with their specialists who stated he did not need to be medicated and that it was the learning environment he was in. The proof is in the school and teaching method... my son is going to private school and getting straight A's and his behavior is no longer an issue.

Wow.... kids from other grade levels stealing from my son's bucket (they use buckets and not backpacks in K and store them on hooks outside of the class room). No one told me about this until my son came home crying on the 3rd occasion. I had to contact the teacher who then told me she suspected it was kids from another grade and just started to implement a process for the kids to bring their snacks and store them inside the classroom.

Sending group emails out to parents stating that the kids are out of control and not listening to the playground leaders. Emails from the principal that state that kids are arranging to meet at a park to fight along with multiple fights starting at school due to video gaming trash talking are all signs of ineffective leadership. There was also an incident where students in the ESS program were left unattended and inappropriate behaviors between two children took place inside of a classroom. They do communicate to parents but it's all been horrible.

They are not supportive of ADHD kids like Fletcher Hills Elementary was. Take a look at the schools test scores.... they are horrible so individual learning differences are not supportive and if anything, disruptive due to the lack of support.

Posted: January 25, 2019

They do punish kids for inappropriate behavior but I do not think the manner in which they punish changes the behavior. The root cause of this schools issues are not being identified or not being addressed.

The TK teacher does a wonderful job with the students. My son has really grown socially being in her class. I couldn't have asked for a better first teacher for him!

We have had a wonderful experience at this school. My boys are as different as night and day, but both have had their educational needs easily met here. The teachers are engaged and responsive, the office staff is on top of everything and the PTA is out if this world! Everyone works together to ensure a positive school experience for ALL of the students that attend.

My daughter started Kindergarten at Northmont Elementary last year . What I love about this school is that it has three different playgrounds. Kinders have their own right in front of the classrooms, which is fully fenced. 1st to 3rd grades have one, and 4th-5th grades have the biggest one. The restrooms are nearby the classrooms and play areas. Ms. Sass is a great kindergarten teacher. My daughter was a very shy and sensitive girl, but with the help of her teacher, she was comfortable at school. Parent volunteering is good too. There was always a list of parents who were willing to help.

I have a daughter who has attended Northmont since Kinder and she is now in 3rd grade. She has loved every second and so have I. I'm happy to say she's had some of the best teachers! Their involvement with the students is so incredible. This year she has Ms Konarska who, I must say, has been amazing in my daughters development. She is dedicated to making sure the children are well rounded and that they are exposed to other cultures in the world. I LOVE the fact that my 3rd grader comes home and can teach me a few things. Good job!!!

I have two children currently attending Northmont and I love this school! Their teachers have been so attentive, caring, sweet, loving, and warm. Mrs Smith is a fantastic Kindergarden teacher, Mrs. Wilson is the pre-k teacher and is the best you'll find anywhere. We currently live outside the district but I commute each way because my kids are so happy there. Mrs. Belcher, the school principal, is very involved. You can see her outside making sure the kids are safe after school and during lunch times. I agree with the previous post about the office staff. They could afford to be a little more friendly.

The teachers that we have encountered have been very attentive, caring and firm when needed, to ensure that our child receives a great education. The only concern that I have is around the administrative office staff, they often come across as inconvenienced by questions and unfriendly. I believe that additional direction from Ms. Belcher would remedy this.

From top to bottom this school is great!!! Teachers and staff care about what they are doing for our children.
