Lazy, entitled and unimaginative. So few teachers seem to possess the drive to teach and engage students in anyway that is meaningful or rigorous.

These qualities are not up to any public school to instill or develop. These traits must be taught at home and modeled by those very same adults. Schools should be concerning themselves with academics, not infringing on my family culture.

A revolving door of incompetence and complacency. The current administrator is a poor excuse for a leader who is well versed in talking nonsense than holding her staff accountable for their poor practices. Likely, she only spent the required minimum amount of classroom time before chasing her dream of becoming middle management.

Again... worksheets, worksheets, worksheets! My SpEd student has only suffered due to the lack of quality instruction.

This school wastes an inordinate amount of time on character assemblies that accomplish nothing of value that can be measured for academic success. For all the talk that goes on regarding bullying, our student faces harassment and insults on a daily basis further proving what a waste of time it is to try and indoctrinate children with faux culture instead of fulfilling their promise to deliver a quality education.

Poorly.
Ira Harbison is an organization that has fallen far from Grace. These people here do not understand that they are short changing these students and jeopardizing their futures because these "educators" would rather fill learning time with things that will not help them navigate their academic future as students continue to be left wholefully unprepared for the next level of their education.

Worksheets don't make kids any smarter. The teachers here have an endless supply and do not seem to be able to "teach" without them. No such thing as academic integrity at Ira Harbison or NSD.

2 of my children go here, and since moving from palmer way this school has been very accommodating. This is above average school for the area and has a wonderful after school program!

Friendly staff. The teachers heard me when I expressed my concerns. My kids really like the new principal, play ground staff, crossing guards and teachers and the rest of the staff. The secretary is very helpful. My only complaint is I wish it was easier to meet the teachers before day 1. I know they have a lot going on but when you have kids with medical conditions its important. But over all this school is way better then the last school my kids went too in this district!

having a before school and after school program gives the parents a lift on schedules and teaches the kids extra curricular activities that really builds up a child's self-esteem!

Back in the 80's my two sons attended Ira Harbison and did well. The teachers at that time were great with the kids and very dedicated in their work. Now my grandkids attend Ira. There is only one teacher there from the time my sons attended! That states something when a teacher is at one school for many, many years. I don't know every teacher there but the ones that I have met have all been great. Their concern and responsibility to the kids is amazing. Of course, education begins at home but teachers have alot to deal with in class with the various personalities of each kid plus size of classrooms are over capacity. There needs to be more money put into education because these kids are the future. Without a proper education, dropout rates may rise. Jobs are very difficult to find even with an education but at least given chance for each child to have a stable foundation and hopefully continue after high school. After school programs are great and thankful it is something offered for free. I do think school lunches should be improve because from what I hear, it's not that great, free or not free. I feel the school is well secured and atmosphere is pleasant. Great staff!

GREAT SCHOOL MY SON'S HAVE BOTH DONE EXCELLENT. AND HAD WONDERFUL TEACHERS. THIS SCHOOL IS VERY HELPFUL IN PROVIDING EXTRA SUPPORT WHEN NEEDED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL CHILD TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOAL. BOTH MY SON'S WILL BE RETURNING FOR THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR!!!!!!

I am very dissatisfied with this school. My children have attended the 09-10 school year. The Blue Ribbon Award for academics is a facade and does not give you a full view of the overall school environment. Please don't be fooled. They teach to test, not to educate or challenge their students. The classes were over sized, so there was no individual interest or attention given to help develop students. Even those with great potential!! There was a lack of consistent disciple especially for the older kids. The principle had no follow through, and didn't seem to know the pulse of activity in her school. We will definitely not be returning next year. :-/
