While there are some great teachers here like the nursing and childcare blocks, but there are many terrible ones. Especially the music program-stay far away. Those folks don’t put the kids first and are really unprofessional.

This school is horrible for individuals with disabilities. On the first day of school, the elevator was broken--staff insisted a student with a physical disability to use the stairs, which is an ADA violation. Academically, staff do not follow students' IEPs or needs, so parents must monitor closely to prevent mistreatment. Communication is poor, it takes a long time to get a response from staff via email or phone. If you have a student with an IEP, consider taking them elsewhere. If not, ensure their services are implemented at this school. Students with physical disabilities or learning challenges may require alternative options, such as out-of-district placement with transportation at the districts expense. To substantiate your claims, gather supporting evidence. If your request is denied, make sure it's in writing. You may need to file for due process with a special education attorney. Overall, the lack of support for students with disabilities and IEPs is a significant concern at this school.

Too much computer time teachers don’t teach and they don’t pay attention to grading. The teachers are unsupportive and dissociative . Kids are required to be online 8 hours of school time plus homework. This is the most debilitating school for upward mobility I’ve experienced.

Oceanside High School has prepared both of my daughters to be successful students in college as well as confident female leaders in their community. Oceanside has a very diverse student body and the teachers, athletic coaches, counselors, administrators, and security team have done an amazing job of getting to know as many students as possible on an individual basis. The academic pathways have created a vision for my daughters' future careers and life adventures.

Classes are not engaging for my child. This school is not safe. Teachers and staff give preferential treatment to athletes. It borders high crime rate neighborhoods and has had multiple incidences resulting in victims receiving serious injuries. Discipline is not consistent for students who have weapons on campus. I was told that these students "need to have knives on them for their own protection on their way home." This statement is unacceptable. School should be a safe place for all students.

My daughter is in her third year at OHS. She is in the Environmental Innovation Academy. All of the staff have been very knowledgable about the subject area being taught. The staff provide engaging activities and relevant field trip opportunities in our community. She plays three varsity sports and her teachers support her with making up missed work and instruction.

The administration at OHS is amazing as well!

My daughter had a great experience at OHS. My daughter was part of the Academy of Justice and is now studying public policy and Law in college. She speaks about the kindness of her teachers still. She also had a great experience playing on the golf and water polo.

I've worked at this school for over 15 years and absolutley LOVE it! The students are amazingly caring and considerate. The staff is expereinced and motivated, embracing change. Many generations of families have been a part of the traditions at this school, and we are a strong family-oriented pilar of the community.

A lot of the Male student don’t have respect towards the Female student and they begin to lash out because of it and treat Males the same way

Posted: April 6, 2019

ASB is always involved in decisions no leadership problem between them and staff

Posted: April 6, 2019

There’s a whole program for anybody with any kind of learning disabilities

Posted: April 6, 2019

Bullying happens everywhere and they do absolutely nothing until they are forced to ( usually when there’s a fight)

Posted: April 6, 2019

Over pile the students with homework. Some are becoming sleep deprived and work performance lowers

Posted: April 6, 2019

Some teachers are very interactive with the students

Posted: April 6, 2019

It’s okay... Some teachers could be better with giving not as much homework not stop completely but less or explain the concept better

Posted: September 6, 2018

I don't know. I know they try, but their score is not great in this area. I find it impossible to judge when I know nothing about how difficult it might be to educate students with learning differences.

Posted: September 6, 2018

I have not heard of any serious incidences of bullying from my child or anywhere. It probably is happening, but I don't believe it is rampant.

Posted: September 6, 2018

Extremely positive. I wouldn't trade it for a different school. My child is happy, successful, and enjoys this school. What else matters? And have you seen the ocean view from the quad???

Posted: September 6, 2018

My child is not staying up half the night doing homework, so it doesn't seem too overwhelming.

Posted: September 6, 2018

I don't know all of the teachers, but the ones I do know, I really like. They all seem to care about success of my child.

Posted: September 6, 2018

I believe the diversity and inclusiveness of this campus leads to the development of good character.

Posted: September 6, 2018

The principal really has her heart in the job. Everyday she is working toward improving student success. The rest of the staff do, too.

We have been so pleasantly surprised with OHS! The teachers are committed to the students and go out of their way to offer amazing opportunities. The school spirit and pride is incredible, which makes for a sense of inclusion that is palpable on campus. OHS is not only developing scholars, but even more importantly they are building young adults with character, integrity, sensitivity, and cultural awareness.

My daughter went her for her 9 and some 10 and she hated everyday that she went! She would always want to got to school before and after she started Oceanside it was a struggle for her to go. I can't believe that this school could have had this many stars when I have had so many problems with it. It was so bad for her that our son refuses to attend this school when he goes to high school.

Love this school!! hidden gem of Oceanside, my Son has a great GPA, staff is really focused on the whole student not just pushing them through, College bound, Proud Dad!!

This school is great. The principle is excellent and makes a point to introduce himself to parents, students when he meets them at various events, meetings, etc. He shows a genuine interest in the students and this attitude has trickled over to his staff who also have shown an increase in interest for the students than in previous years. The principle shows up at sporting events, etc. to show support for his students and shows his staff appreciation for their involvement also. Unfortunately, OHS gets all the bad publicity when, in fact the other high school is the won that is involved in lunchtime riots, gang problems, lockdowns. The most important fact I'd like to share here is that my child thinks this school is fantastic, is very involved, and enjoys attending every day. This gives me a great feeling of pride for this school.
