Sunset Hills Elementary in San Diego, CA is a smaller school with a friendly administration that works closely with the PTA and Foundation made up of parent volunteers. The principal's door is always open and communication is excellent. The teachers are very good, the counselor we love, and there are amazing enrichment programs in STEM, Art, and Music. I definitely suggest checking Sunset Hills out. There are so many good PTA and Foundation activities/clubs including the Science Fair, Around the World Night, JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), Running Club, Lego Club (with Junior Lego League), Karate, Baton Twirling, Spanish, etc.

This school is very welcoming. The teachers and staff really care about the students. They focus on both academics and emotional growth. It has a community feel and a great part of the neighborhood.

My daughter loves this school! They office staff is hands down the best! Every teacher she has ever had helped her every step of the way. I volunteered in classes many times and they are so respectful, and understanding towards the kids. The way they teach you can tell they have a passion for teaching.

Great school for our kids. All the staff and parents are caring, enthusiastic, encouraging, supportive, and friendly. It's a lovely community and we feel lucky to live near this school. Lots of parent involvement -- I went on one trip (an overnight stay on a tall ship) and the staff there said they had never seen so many parents in a group.

Sunset Hills is not just a school, but a community that works together to insure our the students have a safe, caring learning environment. The parents, teachers, staff and administration all work together taking the best interest of the students to heart. Volunteerism is very high on parents' priorities at Sunset Hills and that is reflected in the excellence at the school. The teachers, staff and administration take learning very seriously and they themselves are continually take training and classes to bring the latest innovations to Sunset Hills. In the past few years, test scores have improved tremendously and have been recognized by the school District.
