I am a mother of children in the English side and DL. Valley is 2 diferent schools- DL teachers/parents/students get all the support. Read ALL the reviews, only students of rich, professional,upper class students have great experiences. The PTA and Foundation are parents that are able to volunteer and contribute $$ to the school.So the teachers and principal only catered to them! Parent meetings are only in school hours and only DL parents and their issued are discussed. My daughter in the EO had a great teacher, she never got any recognition or support. The rewards are money based for classrooms to get attention. The ladies at the office are nice but they don't even know what is going on in the school. They tell different tjings depending of who you talked, no consistency. The situation is now worse because some district employees have their children in the Spanish program so they can volunteer, go in and out as they please. Their children are protected, discipline is only important if the parents are important. I went to volunteer one day and the new assistant principal was telling a mom ( of a child of color) in the office how her son misbehaved!!she didn't care that there were other people and students there!! Is that even allowed? I bet she wouldn't do that to a DL student of one of the preferred families.
Asked how many teachers have left, my firts child had a way better experience that my youngest. The school is not a community school anymore. Again the teachers and students in the English side are not important if they don't cone from high status. Again read the reviews and see the pattern.

My daughter who is non-native speaker of Spanish has already learned so much with great Spanish pronunciation. She loves her teachers, the students, and the supportive community. The main office is caring and communicative. The principal has a strong handle on balancing care, high rigor, and emotional safety at his school. I feel very glad we chose this school as our transfer school of choice. We are two years in and couldn’t be happier. We only wish is that Valley gets the recognition it deserves. It’s the best dual immersion program we have seen in the county by far.

We have been so impressed with the dual immersion program at Valley. The teachers are incredibly dedicated, knowledgeable, and talented. It is clear that the teachers love working at Valley. We also love the Valley Elementary community in general. It is inclusive, fun, down-to-earth, and diverse. Although we were new to the district, we felt very welcomed by all staff and families. It feels like home.

Terrible experience. There’s no transparency about who gets in to the Spanish Immersion . You only get an email whether or not your child gets in. Also, administrator, front office, and some teachers are rude. There’s no sense of equality either. There’s a need to support ALL students!!!

Not given enough time to do it. Some pages are for drawing and coloring - which is preschool assignments.

Unfortunately, some students are given more attention than others. Also, teachers only allows some parents to volunteers. Communication between parents and teachers should be improved. Also, some teachers choose which parents should follow school rules while scold other parents who do not.

I have not meet the principal at all. When I asked to speak to him, I was sent to talk to another person in the office. I never received an email from the principal about it. He is not as welcoming as other principals in the district, maybe with certain parents.

We have been impressed with the level of dedication of many of the teachers as well as the amount of parent involvement at this school.
Our children have been fortunate to attend Valley and become fluent in more than one language.

This is a wonderful school to send your children to. The teachers and staff really care about the students and their families. My two daughters are in their impressive dual language program. Neither my husband or I are Spanish speakers, but our daughters are able to hold conversations with Spanish speakers. I love the way PUSD teaches all school subjects. These people know what they are doing! I am so thankful for this school!

My kids attended Kinder and Preschool at other Poway USD schools (Painted Rock and Chaparral Elementary, which are closer to our homes) before we discovered the dual-language Spanish immersion program at Valley and transferred them (just in time, our oldest began in first grade speaking no Spanish and within just a few months was gaining fluency, by the time we took a vacation to Spain the following summer he was fully fluent and translating for us!) This is an amazing school -- from the Principal, who is truly committed and has his own child attending the school, to the teachers, families, parents and of course the kids. The commitment from the faculty, PTA and Foundation to put in the hard work and learn technology, common core, and other best practices, demonstrates their willingness to go the extra mile to improve their own skills and best teaching practices. This is a low-income, Title One school-- meaning 50% of the children are on the free lunch program. You definitely see and experience poverty at this school, which actually keeps all of the children, teachers (and hopefully the parents) grounded on what is truly important for a child's and community's education.

My kids love this school and the teachers are awesome! Everyone is friendly and professional. Go Tigers!

This is a great school my daughter is in forth grade Mr.P. She has been getting such good grades. She's gotten A+ all year.Her grades are the best she has 225 math maps score from 213. She has the highest math reading and language arts maps score in her class. Also 100% on science social studies math language and reading.

a great school!! The commitment of the teachers is outstanding! All teacher go beyond their time to make sure ALL students succeed. They are now a NO EXCUSES school and all the parents just need to step up to the new challenge!!

Please DO NOT send your children to this school. My daughter attended this school for one year. There was bullying going on in the classroom and the teacher was unresponsive. When called, the office said to talk to the teacher first then they didn't know where to go from there. Issues were not resolved and damage was already done. My daughter hated this school. She was hurt so bad I had to move her for she would not go back to this school. Staff was unwilling to help in anyway.

This school allows bullying to go on and even though numerous parents complain the school does nothing about the problem. The principal seems bothered when i address the issue with him. He says he will deal with it, yet the problem gets worse. Many parents have removed their children from this school, which is why it is the only elementary school in the district that has open space for more students.
