Administration is focused on their pet programs with little attention or interest in kids needs or learning fundamentals.

My experience as a parent at Henry Clay Elementary is complicated. There are a couple outstanding teachers at this school though they generally are found in the lower grades. All my children have done really well at this school academically but when it comes to leadership and keeping children safe, there's much to be desired. When our children have experienced bullying and harassment, getting the principal to even respond to an email or phone call was incredibly difficult. When my daughter was in fourth grade, a boy student in her class repeatedly threatened to sexually assault her (these threats were heard by the teacher and staff) but it was like pulling teeth to get the principal to even meet with us to build a plan for keeping our daughter safe. Additionally, the environment is not very inclusive when it comes to sexuality and race. Parents regularly discuss how Black students are yelled at and disciplined by lunch and noon duty staff differently than white students. Fellow parents have also expressed concerns about an unwillingness by staff to use students preferred pronouns or intervene when homophobic slurs are heard. In the end, I have high hopes for this school because the community is strong and committed to making it a better place. I do have serious concerns about the willingness of the principal and many of the staff to create a safer space for students and I really hope the district begins to listen to the concerns of parents.

I can't say Aint enough good stuff about this elementary school. My. My son went from kindergarten to 5th grade without any issues. The teachers are so helpful, the counselor is amazing and the principal knows how to handle her stuff. The special education teachers go above and beyond to make sure that your child gets all the services they need. Such a huge parent Involvement beyond just the classroom. You really feel like part of a family here.

Avoid thus school if possible. Our son goes here and his teacher is terrible. She hardly runs her class, the students have to resolve any issues they have even though they are only six and she doesn't enforce anything. This school really made my son hate going to school. His teacher was a bully and singled him out from day one, and as hard as we tried to help him at home, he received no help at school. He didn't even have any homework which I believe enforces a good work ethic. Dinosaur school was really the only benefit to this school. The woman who runs it is amazing and very smart. She works so well with the kids. The primetime squad is also amazing. They do a great job, especially Ms. Roxanne and her staff. Besides that I would avoid sending your kid here at all costs. Most of the parent's don't even make their kids a lunch, which to me is really sad. They all have to eat the school lunches and I remember some of the kids saying they hadn't eaten all day because the food was so bad.

The Teachers, Staff, Admin and PTA work so hard to create a radically inclusive environment for our children. Free Breakfast and Lunch for all students, great afterschool program.

Not the best, last two teachers my son had seemed very uninvolved in the childÂ’s ability to progress. Teachers donÂ’t engage with parents enough, school does not have a graduation for Kindergartens entering first grade. They give late notices about days off and short days. Does not put money into field trips for the kids.

Teachers need better communication with parents when I child is not catching on or keeping up with what is being taught. They will let a child fail without mentioning it to parents.

This is by far the worst school my children have ever attending. This school has problem with bullying that the teachers and principal donÂ’t care about. Nobody ever does anything about the bullying. We are so frustrated with this school, we are going to be pulling our kids out and transferring to another school. I just canÂ’t wait for this school year to be over.

The worst school I have ever seen. Bullying that teacher donÂ’t care to do anything about. when I told my sons fifth grade teacher about the bullying she told me she would have to set up counseling appointment with the counselor. What on earth on the mean time my some will continues to get bullied while an waiting for an appointment with the counselor? Outrageous.!!! and the principle does nothing as well. This school is a joke. Do not take your kids here.

We've had a great experience with our son at Clay. A great group of teachers, a growing PTA and other families who contribute, and a principal who is very engaged at bettering the school every day.

Henry Clay Elementary is an awesome school. I'm a parent there. I know when I drop my kids off at school that they are safe. My children have shown so much improvement over this last school year. The staff try their best to include parents, family, sand friends to be involved in the students learning process. I'm truly proud to call my self a Clay parent.
