My daughter has an IEP and the school has been really proactive to make sure she receives the help she needs. They listen to my concerns and are there to help figure out options to obstacles.

Both of my children have attended Cubberly since they started preschool and my oldest is now in 5th grade. The school has community feel and has some amazing parents that help promote programs for the kids. The staff has changed over the years but they have all been amazing with my children. My oldest has an IEP and they all work so hard to make sure my concerns are addressed. They make sure to try to change what may not be working. The principal works tirelessly for the kids even if the other reviews say differently. This really is an amazing school and I feel blessed to have found it. It is small and there is a real sense of community.

Teachers do not send a massive amount of homework and most seems to make sure that the children understand the ideas compared to having large amounts of work to do.

The students are a part of the conversation about how they would like to school to run. They have visuals on how to be a good person and be a Peace Builder. While I am sure no school will be perfect but they try to instill the characteristics that they want to send out into the community.

No. Just no. You could have a child in IEP but will be held to standard like the rest of the kids regardless if they have emotional challenges. No empathy. No caring.

Above statements. Principal is a bully. This is a toxic environment.
Posted: May 30, 2019
There are no directions for whats to be done. If youre verbally telling a child what to do for each assignment more than likely theyre not going to retain. Have a clear outline.

The teachers have become spoiled by a principal who clearly doesnt like children. We all have jobs weve had to do, projects we dont like or are challenging and annoying difficult coworkers. We dont have the privilege of going to management and have them suspended because we feel like it. These are kids right? This is an elementary school ?

They dont care enough to do this!

The principal is horrible. This was a peace builder school. My first two children excelled under the former staff. It had a caring and fun vibe. Its run like a jail now and the worst bully being the principal herself.

Send your child to a school that has some integrity and common sense. A strong understanding that these are children not adults and you are forming their emotional environment for life. Such a shame it used to be a special place.

Cubberley has a resource specialist on staff as well as a Speech Language Pathologist. They cater to all students with IEP's and work as a team to achieve what is best for each student.

Like I states above, Cubberley is a very small student body and the staff and principal know each and every student at the school. The school also teaches "The Peace Builder Way" and the students are reminded of what it takes to be a Peace Builder every morning as they recite the Peace Builder Pledge and they also have a Peace Builder Assembly once a week.

Homework is not over the top. My son is asked to read 20 minutes a day, study is weekly spelling words, write in a journal and complete a critical thinking math problem. This homework connects us as parents to his school work.

Cubberley is a small school and every teacher knows every student by name. It is a small community and all the teachers are very caring.

Cubberley uses The Peace Builders way and builds strong character in many ways. They also have a PE teacher on staff twice a day and works closely with the school after school care program to carry over rules.

Principal is very effective and hard working! She is in every classroom and knows each and every students name and situation. She works hard and it shows.

We love the small community of our neighborhood school Cubberley. We feel our children are getting a well rounded education with a great Elementary School experience.

Having a counselor one day a week is little to no help...they start student plans and dont follow through with them
Posted: August 25, 2018
They never fully investigate anything all the principal does is suspend students
Posted: August 25, 2018
Principal is horrible with unethical and has her own agenda
Posted: August 25, 2018
Left the school best decision I ever made

No classroom control teachers expect the kids to be robots and they dont cater their teaching style towards each child
Posted: August 25, 2018
Cant teach the children any of those things when all they do is suspend kids

Our son was being bullied by a classmate and, despite our pleas to the principal, we were told that they didn't feel it was an issue. The principal told us that reenactments of the situations with the students were needed in order to determine if there was actually bullying. She went on to say that first graders have short memories for things like that and would likely provide inaccurate details. I could not believe what I was hearing. Our trust in the school was obliterated. They talk about being "Peace Builders" and even say a daily pledge, but I suspect they would go to great lengths to avoid having to admit a bullying case. My advice to anyone in a similar situation to document everything and escalate to the district without hesitation. Ultimately, we transferred our son to a different school and we are happy with the decision. I am giving 2 stars because we liked his teacher. She had her hands pretty full with that class and I just hope she can get the support from the administration that she needs.

My son started Transitional Kindergarten at Cubberley and our whole family loves it. He has an amazing teacher, we love that the class sizes are small and the administrative staff is friendly and helpful!

Cubberley is a wonderful school! The Principal is so warm and loving and the teachers are top-notch. My kids have gone there since Kindergarten and have thrived. The PTA is very active with about one family event each month and funding art and music classes. Overall a terrific school!

My son has been attending Cubberly for the past two years. It is a small, warm neighborhood school with an excellent staff. Their Prime Time before and after school program is top notch. Miss Kathy and Miss Deanna are two individuals who go above and beyond to meet the needs of the student population. Cubberly and the students are fortunate to have them.

What I like about Cubberley is that it is a small school with a big heart. Your children are not just a number and no student falls between the cracks. Everyone from the Principal to Custodians are involved with the students to make sure that each and everyone of them receive the best education that they can. They are not only concerned about their education but very aspect of their lives. These are qualities that you cannot find in bigger school. Cubberley truly believes that it takes a village to raise a child.

my sons school Cubberley has been there for him in so many ways. I would rate this school a 10 out of 10. Rosemary Cruz is an amazing school leader.

I love this school. The principal is amazing, she knows all of the kids by first name. As she is standing outside in the front of the school greeting them as the parents drop off their child. They have family movie night, which is sponsored by the PTA. They have an awesome Care Cat program that promotes reading & caring for each other in a written way. It's a very close knit school & all the teachers, staff & parents are helpful & friendly with each other on a first name basis. I'm so proud that my son has been attending this school since kindergarden.

My son attends school here, the one complaint i have is that the classes are mixed. He is in first grade and his class is mixed with second graders. I feel like the kids aren't getting the proper attention and learning that they deserve. However the staff in primetime is amazing! they are all so sweet and are very patient with all the kids!! Ms.Kathy is a sweetheart!!

We have had kids at Cubberley since 2005. I am very happy with the curriculum, the teachers and staff are wonderful with the students. Being a small school the children are all known by name and greeted in the morning by the principal. There is a great core group of parents that is involved with volunteerng and fundraising, providing extras such as ArtCorps, Running Club and field trips.

I would rate Cubberley Elem with a 5 star as the school always put the childern first. The childern is what our jobs are about and how we can perpare them for the future. I would like to see parents take a better roll in their childs education and let the teachers have the time to make sure that education is at the top of the list so that every child feels as tho they are special. I would like to see that every child is tought the BASIC'S first and Technology second!!!!!!!!!!!!

This school is a real gem. If you looking into schools, private or public, you need to check out Cubberley. There is no comparison. I am a former PTA President that have had the opportunity to shop around schools; seeing them from the inner workings out. The school has a small population so your child won't get lost in the crowds. The teachers are experienced, hands on, and care about the kids reaching their full potential. The principal is supportive, nurturing and attentive. Her positive behavior influences all staff and students to be better stakeholders. Cubberley parents make the choice to send their children here. These are the parents that are the pillars of our community. You will see these parents involved in every facet of community growth.

Cubberley is a GREAT school. Every child know every other child from kinder up to fifth grade. Everyone (teachers, staff, students and parents) is supportive. I have two students at Cubberley and both are excelling and performing at above grade level. I highly recommend this school.
