Sunset View Elementary has been an incredible experience for our family. Both of my daughters currently attend, and we could not be happier. The academics are top-notch challenging yet engaging and the teachers are truly dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential.
Beyond academics, the school has a wonderful social structure that fosters kindness, inclusion, and confidence. The environment feels extremely safe, and the principal leads with genuine care and vision. Every staff member goes above and beyond to create a positive and supportive atmosphere.
Sunset View truly offers the benefits and personal attention youd expect from a private school, but within a public school setting. We feel so fortunate to be part of this community and highly recommend it to any family looking for a nurturing, high-quality education for their children.

Sunset View Elementary in Point Loma is such a special place! The teachers and staff genuinely care about every childs growth and well-being, creating a warm and supportive learning environment. Parents and teachers work hand-in-hand to make sure students not only succeed academically but also feel safe, valued, and part of a close-knit community.
Theres a strong spirit of volunteerism here families are actively involved through events, classroom support, and the KidsFirst foundation, which helps fund enrichment programs and fun activities for the students. From school-wide celebrations to community service projects, theres always something engaging happening that brings everyone together.
Were so grateful to be part of a school where collaboration, kindness, and learning truly go hand in hand. Sunset View is more than just a school its a family.

This school has strong academics and test scores. The teachers are excellent. However, think twice about enrolling your child if you're looking for a school with a strong Social and Emotional learning environment. Bullying is common and the principal does little to promote empathy and understanding of diversity. I wish I knew before I enrolled my child.

This school is fantastic! The teachers are wonderful. The programs are enriching. My son is thriving. The best part of the school for our family, however, is the parent involvement. As a former teacher, I recognize that the importance of parent participation in the school community is invaluable. These parents go above and beyond to ensure that this school has everything it needs to help our children succeed in every facet possible. We all contribute our time and efforts when and where we can and our children benefit beyond belief. It is an amazing learning environment and any family would be happy to be a part of it.

Great teachers, great parent support, great before and after school program. Both my daughters love going to school, making friends, and learning along the way. Great discipline helps teachers spend time teaching instead of dealing w/ behavior issues.

I'm so thankful that my son is able to go to this WONDERFUL school! The Vapa program is amazing! I can't imagine a private school being any better. The running club before school is a fantastic program. Everyday my son wants to go to school. Teachers, Parents, Principal, Staff as well as students are involved in making this school a 10!

Sunset View is a wonderful school in all measures. Every day when I ask my children how their school day was, they reply "wonderful". The new principal, teachers, staff, parents and students create a great learning environment. The Kids First Foundation fundraising and extra programs allowed the school to reduce class size in fourth grade and fund important programs that would otherwise not be available through the budget. This is a first-class public school with an amazing ocean view.

We have incredible test scores, programs, and probably the best PE program in California. I love Sunset View Elementary School! I attended Sunset View in 1956 -1957 and was so thrilled when my granddaughter Sadie became a Sunset View student and next year her sister Emma will be attending Kindergarten at Sunset View. Sunset View is not only unique because of its location, but for the ongoing excellence of teachers, and staff. It was a wonderful experience attending Sunset View as a child and it is a joy to return to the campus as a grandparent and feel again the creative energy and enthusiasm always present at Sunset View!
