I went here last year and it was the best school ever all the staff are friendly and helpful and the teachers don't get mad the principal and vice principal are the best admin at any school

Used to attend this school all that others have claimed is true. Don’t attend at all cost, move your child to a nearby school.

Some of the reviews are from parents that were not involved or did not experience this school with their own eyes. This school may look good on the outside, with all of the "inspiring" quotes on the outside and their new remodel, but it's a trap. Do not go to this school. There are other schools nearby that are amazing and can provide anyone with transportation (not saying that this school doesn't). There are constant fights, like 3 every week, and recently there was a student that had fentanyl and had to go the hospital. Also, there is "slap boxing" in the bathrooms constantly and the staff doesn't do anything about it. Not to mention this school is not connected with the parents whatsoever, they don't even acknowledge what parents have to say, and they won't even read the emails. I would not recommend sending your child to this school.

Run away. Your child is not safe here. Seriously, it is unsafe. My child was assaulted there in PE and now has a potential fractured growth plate in his arm, wearing a cast. Their backpack was slashed with a knife. All n the first two months. Is it worth the risk seeing what happens next? NOPE!! RUN AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL! It’s for bullies. Don’t let your child be hurt next. They can’t keep your kids safe.

This school has gone down Hill, There is a BIG Bullying problem, an fights just about every other week, children with Disabilities,get it the worst,an The Vice principal,hardly reports them, as I had to report what happened to my son after he was beat up, by a Bully to school police myself, No photos were taken of my son,bronzed up,at all!! an was told by The Vice principal himself that my son needed to get over it,an come back to school 2 days later, This is one of The worst schools, Myself an other parent's have pulled our kid's, from here, This is my experience there!

I feel the staff and faculty working at this school are very involved and agile in making the school better and addressing issues as they occur.

Based on my observations of son's amount of homework, I feel he spends about 1-2hrs max working on assignments at home.

The principal and vice-principal keep an open dialog with parents with personal weekly emails/phone calls. This is there way of making sure important announcements make it home whether good or bad. I had never experienced this at any other schools anywhere (we're military so we've lived in AZ, GA, and NC).

This school has expressed a strong stance against bullying and even setup a presentation (with an expert) for parents to come in and learn how this is happening to kids through social media.

I have know Taft Middle School for many years. My children have attended this school and all the negative comments are probably made by unhappy students or parents who do not get their way. Academically the school offers an A thru G curriculum. Highly qualified teachers and receptive administration to community and parents. Too many negative people express their unhappiness and not enough positive because they are happy and don't think they need to express concern. This is a great school with community support and very bright future.

My son transferred here from a "really good" school a few months ago, and I have to say, I am more than pleased with this school. They have such a low rating and the other school is well over rated! This school does NOT have a bullying issue, and when there was even a concern of that, the teachers were quick to resolve it before it became an "issue." My son went from hating math to it being his favorite subject! Being at the "good" school didn't teach him anything bc the teachers were careless and the principal was not even aware of anything going on. With this school, any concerns you may have, they are quick to get answers and resolve any issues that may arise. The Principal is very nice and he is very involved. All the staff, from office, to cafeteria to the teachers are well involved and very nice. I have recommended this school to other friends as well as strangers and I am proud to say this school deserves a much better rating and this school is one of the best ones I've come across and I hope you give it a try if your looking for a middle school for your child!

There are alot of bulling in this school even if your popular. Also some or most children use innaproiate words. The teachers are great, but some students only about there grades and learning.

Since most of these reviews are very old, I am compelled to update the general public. The school currently has an API score of 776 which is a steady increase in test cores over the last several years. The teachers are caring and compassionate...and working harder than most teachers in affluent areas. Yes, as in all schools, there are some discipline problems (which, by the way, stem mostly from the home environment.) If less than 5% of the students can create an entire reputation for a school, then there is something wrong. People may have an opinion about the school and its leadership but, please consider the source of such comments. Our Student of the Month Awards ceremonies fill the library every month and we just had four students win first place at the Science Fair. There are some fantastic things happening...come to the school to visit and judge for yourself.
