My kid went here a few years ago, there is racism that the principal does NOT care about, and others. My kid is very smart, but the teachers didn't even know what to do with him. This school is horrible, and I do not recommend it. Sometimes this school does slack, and VAPA seems to not be fun for older students.

I am sad to report as I thought this school would be great fit for my kid but after enrolled, seeing day to day base interaction with teacher(s), stuff members, principal and kids' parents, I had cold feeing toward this school as I could not click with anyone even I participated volunteering weekly.
The parts I like was that school provides all kinds of extra program in arts, music, science and lots of events yet I wished this school had more friendly culture and people who care to be connect with each others. Student's parents were keeping themselves without efforts to support each other and mostly what I got bothered by was principal who seems like it takes years to get to know her and I get to be recognized as volunteering stuff. I just felt odd whole year around. I also realized that not so many parents try to participate school events or volunteering and many students are not from actual neighborhood. Their academic scoring seems pretty good and most kids are seems to be well behaved so if your kid is good in academic and parents do not so care about connecting with others, this school might be ok for you.

My son left his school because his sister is in UTK, which this school offers. I am pleased with both the UTK program and my son’s transition into the school with his class and teacher. I feel like my son has grown in writing and in math. I will be keeping both my kids at this school and couldn’t be happier. Not important, but my son came home with the sweetest holiday gift.

I thought it was a good school based on the reviews. Actually worse than I thought, especially dealing with the teacher. Can’t wait till the school year is over to move to a different school.

My kid has been attending this school since kindergarten and things have gotten worse. A lot of good teachers left this school year. The principal is not doing all she can to help support all kids and shows preferential treatment to just the families who donate $$$. I heard from some other families who says the principal just take the teacher’s side instead of investigating questionable behavior from teachers in the class.

We have been choicing our kids here since 2020 and it is definitely worth the drive. My kids have nothing but good experiences here and are always eager to going to school. The school foundation are on top of helping school fundraise and provide fun things for students to participate in. Lots of opportunities for family involvement. My son's TK teacher was phenomenal and so was my other child's 1st grade teacher. Hopefully 2nd grade will be just as great!

We had to took our kids out from this school because the teacher and principal were not dealing with other kids bullying my kid. We reported the bullying to the school and they did nothing. The teacher told my son to grow up and handle it like a man. This is a horrible school!

The principal and leadership at Vista Grande Elementary school needs a major overhaul when it comes to anti-racism and diversity, equity, inclusion focused practices.

The principal retaliates against specific students when their parents speak up about inequities and ask the principal to take measures to resolve these issues.

Certain families have had to withdraw their children for homeschooling due to the principal and certain teachers turning a blind eye to ongoing bullying of their children.

The principal and certain teachers have demonstrated disrespect for first generation immigrant families, indigenous people (including a teacher’s usage of slurs), and shown general white privilege in how they handle these issues.

The student demographics are rapidly changing with larger influx of black and brown and first generation immigrant students with the school choice program, yet the school’s principal and leadership focus largely supports the affluent white families who reside within the neighborhood.

Moreover, teachers of color seem to be less supported by the principal’s leadership measures and distribution of resources and funding. This places negative effect on students enrolled in those teachers’ classes, especially students who come from underserved and less privileged communities.

Serious and continuous trainings in cultural sensitivities, anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion are needed here for the principal and leadership. Please think twice before enrolling your child at Vista Grande elementary. Leadership overhaul is sorely needed.

Teachers are great, but the principal here definitely needs work. If your kid isn't up to their standards, forget it, they will always have a target on their back. Seems like the Iep program is there for the money, no real help.

This school started off well when my son was in Kinder. The teachers are nice and staff as well. The main problem with this school is that its mainly suited for kids that learn fairly quick and need very little help academically (i don't want to say “perfect” kids, but cant find a better word). If your kid needs that extra help because they are behind or have some sort of learning disability, look elsewhere. The teachers just don't seem trained for those kind of challenges. Not to mention the principle. Shes the worst, and needs to take some courses on how to talk to people during certain situations. I wanted to like this school but unfortunately we need to move on to something better.

My boy enjoyed TK and is currently enjoying learning in Kindergarten. He's always happy to go to school, he enjoys all the learning experiences the school has to offer.

No school is perfect but we feel like this school is closed to it. The school/foudation/volunteers provide extra curriculums including art, music, science, military PE, running club, garden club and etc. Students plant vegetables and get to harvest throughout the year. They get to taste some of the veggies during lunch time. They have several movie nights during the school year and students love that. They are creating butterfly garden on campus to see more native butterflies at Vista Grande. My children loves to read books and teachers encourage them to read at school and at home as well.
We are so pleased with Vista Grande and their staff.

We are very pleased with Vista Grande. Our children love going to school. There are so many programs here, including Military PE, Mindset Monday’s, Big Buddies/ Little Buddies, Gardening. They both like going to Mrs. Allard’s class for science lab. My oldest is learning unkelele and is beginning a theater class. My younger child loves the music program and fine artists. The staff is wonderful, everyone (teachers, office staff, admin) knows the students and the children feel safe and comfortable. They have a great character education program where children are taught and encouraged to work towards independence and problem solving. There are many ways to be a part of this diverse and inclusive campus. Parents are engaged, down to earth and always willing to lend a hand. Teachers are easy to communicate with, knowledgeable, and kind. We are happy here!

Excellent school all around. Teachers are great, facility is well cared for, leadership is engaged, and fundraising is effective in providing additional opportunities for students. The school is also phasing in the Avid program which is great.

I have two boys at VG and they have received not only an excellent education by experienced and caring teachers, they have learned what it means to be a scholar. They love all the teachers and the level of respect and responsibility that is expected from the students has I pressed me. I am very happy that my kids go to school here.

I love this school for my kids. We are a military family new to the area and I choiced them into this school due to our neighborhood school not being as good. My kids went from saying they didn't want to go to school to jumping out of the car and running up to the school. 2 of my kids have special needs and the school made sure their 504s were rewritten for here and had everything needed for them to succeed, the teachers have been great for all of them. The only reason I put as good instead of great is because my son is gifted and I have found in order for him to be in a seminar classroom I would have to drive him to another school 20min outside of the area. I feel every school or at least every area should have this offered. My kids would also enjoy more science which is not pushed in this school but I see that more and more in elementary setting.

Vista Grande is a great school and I am happy to have my kids there. The principal is very engaging and incredibly helpful. The Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade teachers my children had were all above par. Parent volunteers are welcomed! VG also offers programs like Fine Artists, Running Club, and Summer Reading. They also have a end of year school fair with a talent show. This is a great school! I'm very happy with it!

Being military it's hard to find a place that feels like home....my son attended Kindergarten and I couldn't be more happier with the choice of picking Vista Grande! Love the teachers, staff, field trips and the involvement they do with the parents.

Great school. LOVE the teachers. Everyone is willing to help out. The only thing that I wish it had was a PTA. It has a Foundation that is made up of parents but it's a select group instead of a meeting with parents that would like to be there. Other than that, we are so happy that we were "choiced" in
