The principal clearly works hard to create a positive environment for students, and most of our daughter’s teachers have been engaged and genuinely invested in student success.

Our biggest concern has been communication and the school’s handling of significant disruptions. Our daughter has had frequent absences due to illness, and we have found that fewer than half of her teachers consistently respond to emails, post assignments and updates in Google Classroom, or answer inquiries through ParentVUE or StudentVUE. This has made it difficult for her to stay current with assignments and has forced her to fight the system to avoid falling behind.

The most serious issue involved her advanced math class. The teacher was injured and absent for several months. During that time, assignments were rarely entered, requests for make-up work went unanswered, and students across multiple classes appear to have lost substantial academic progress. Counseling support was essentially nonexistent, and school leadership made no attempt to communicate a plan or provide meaningful support.

In our experience, the school performs well when dealing with routine situations, but communication and accountability break down when more significant problems arise. For families who value true partnership, consistent communication, and strong follow-through, you will likely be disappointed in this school. Based on our experience, if a stronger alternative were available, we would seriously consider transferring our daughter.

First year in and school seems fine... no middle school is perfect as kids are going through a lot during this age period but they do a good job staying in communication with parents. Nice campus with a lot of activities.

Thai school has great sports and the teachers are very supportive with students. This school needs a facelift and classes are becoming over crowded since all Escondido students try to transfer here.

This area has gone down in last few years. Would recommend this school move to Carlsbad if you care about your child’s development

Not very much interaction with student. No one cares do to over populated area.

This school has had several tragedies with students, and violent incidents.

Posted: December 3, 2019

The area has changed for the worst. I’ve raised several kids in this school district. But since change do to over development, and low income housing. This area has suffered tremendously.

Posted: December 3, 2019

Loose homework, and true grading systems in place. The teacher really don’t care if students learn. They are more concerned with attendance, and things of that nature which help there revenue.

Great staff. Friendly office personnel. Great teachers. Awesome online setup to monitor children's school work. Most work done in the class.

Teachers not involved in helping kids succeed

Posted: June 13, 2018

Not involved... counselors and others who are to be supervising academics are not involved

Posted: June 13, 2018

Regular fights at school... in class rooms, halls, etc. Lots of gang kids at school

Posted: June 13, 2018

Regular fights, student harrassment, and bullying without effective resolution from school and district officials... even with numerous calls, conversations and complaints. Doesn't seem to be a priority for district

Posted: June 13, 2018

Really horrible experience with kids who attend, school officials lack of concern and resolution... 2 kids at school, both harrassed and bullied resulting in severe depression (both), attacks and serious injury.

Posted: December 12, 2014

Harsh teachers, some embarrass kids in front of the classroom. Non-personal attention. Too much homework. Way too many kids per classroom.

How an 8th grade Language Arts teacher who yells and belittles students and who throws desks at walls keeps her job is beyond me. The girls basketball program is subpar (neither of the coaches have a clue) and no one cares enough to do anything about it. Other than these 2 glaring issues, the school as a whole does a great job and the staff is above average. I believe my child is getting a good education.

This is a great school but the math program is awful. My child excelled in math throughout middle school and is now struggling. My child has tried to get additional assistance from the teacher, but the teacher apparently does not have a policy of providing individual assistance (despite effusive and self-congratulatory statements she made during back to school night). This teacher is clearly burned out and the students know it. Attempts to seek assistance from the counseling staff have gone nowhere and a once bright kid that loved math hates it. This is in distinct contrast to other fantastic teachers, including a phenomenal language arts teacher. The administration and counseling staff really need to be more attentive to the merits and lack thereof of its teaching staff. My child and many others are being done a grave disservice by at least one teacher that is not up to par. If your child gets a bad teacher, be the squeaky wheel. It will not get better and you will not get results otherwise. This is a surprise given the high quality of the teaching staff otherwise.

The school has great teachers, but if you child struggles in math and want to get a good grade I do not recommend this school. Math tests are worth 80 percent of your grade and for most teachers are not multiple choice. This makes it very difficult to get an A in the class if you usually get B's on your tests.
