I have 2 alumni and 1 currently enrolled at Eastlake. As part of the Sweetwater Unified school district, this school has Compact for Success which propels the 4 year attendees a guaranteed acceptance to SDSU as long as you meet requirements. Outside applicants without Compact Program Partnership with SDSU are hovering at 4.0+ GPAs requirement as an incoming freshman. Once you hit the college bound trajectory, you will realize how important it is for the Eastlake Curriculum. Eastlake offers the one of most AP classes which allows many graduates to be able to complete college in 3. Side by Side comparison to smaller/ Private schools can not even compare to the amount and diversity of the Eastlake AP classes. Unique to Eastlake is Japanese and the Dual Immersion Program, which many have started from kinder and continued into 12th grade. The school is very diverse and offers many clubs and sports, but what I find unique is the equal opportunity for girls in sports and artistic expression. Look up all the CIF State championships and you will see Eastlake at the top over many sports which is a testament to the admin and parent support of the community. If you are seeking the next steps for University which is a very competitive realm where test scores are optional, your child's academics along with accomplishments in their High School "resume" will be very important and when you are at a school where you can find a club or start a club, a school like Eastlake will allow the leadership. The Parent Association is like no other where the leaders are very connected in the community with new businesses and support to allow the funds for Eastlake School Spirit. As of 2025-26 the school is going through a major renovation which improvements which included a new football field, new weight room, new landscaping, updated library, updated Performing Arts, and parking. If your goal is for your student to have tools to prepare them for college, they will be more than ready. It starts with Eastlake Future Titian night as they welcome the 8th graders and it continues with the organized meetings from Southwest College, SDSU, and UCSD coming to visit the school.If you had to imagine a school with lots of school Spirit, Friday night Football games, Spirit Week, Robotics, and every Sport imaginable, this school is fantastic. The ASB is top notch. My kids had/have wonderful experiences academically & athletically, filled with supportive teachers.

This school does not take good care of their students many of the teachers there are rude and talk very crazy to students. This school does not take school threats as seriously as they should. The classrooms are very small I had to suffer and fail chemistry honors because all the regular chem classes were full and I had to take it that year. Many of the teachers punished you when you were away because of sickness, sports, family, etc etc. The new principle has already enforced rules that are against girls; low rise jeans, shirts, sweats, pj pants, crop tops, halter tops, jewelry, and etc etc. I feel yes there should be a dress code to an extent you are basically telling girls they have to cover up to not distract other classmates, ALSO NO TANK TOPS IN SUMMER. The new principle and dress code is just a bunch of sexism which I do not think is fair. The average students at this school are very overlooked. Parents definitely need to get involved more than they should be.

it is literally impossible to be attentive at this school. i’d say a solid 2 teachers (in my experience) have given proper attention to their classes (updating grades AND engaging students). also this year of all years has been having the worst grades for so many students it’s kinda mind boggling. not to mention the teachers do not put effort into implementing anything interesting into their lessons. then they just blame kids for lack of attentiveness. they have good apples though

oh yeah also the anti bullying stuff is a total joke. there really is not any accountability for the bullying that goes on. most of it is cyber but it’s still bad

I have to say I am not impressed with this school. The average student is overlooked. Yes this school is rated well but hay doesn't mean this is a great school. As a parent it is very frustrating to watch you kid struggle. The teachers on average are below average. They do not practice what they preach. Many are disorganized and grade papers late. By the time you get the grades in the system it's too late to help your student. There are a few great teachers here but they are a diamond in the rough. The student body is way to large. The school focus is way to heavy on Ivy League schools. Many kids go to community college or state schools or even trade schools. I fell the pressure is way to heavy. My son is on heavy anxiety meds just to cope with school.

Many teachers slack at inputting grades. Example...my son had an A+ in his class as of May 3rd. Now a couple weeks before the semester is over the teacher just put in grades for grades semester and he has an F. How is he supposed to recover without knowing where he stood.

My daughter is a Junior at Eastlake and has had her car broken into 4 times this school year! Four Times! I informed an AP and nothing was done because today when it happened for the fourth time the "security" detail said he had no idea that was going on. It is supposed to be a closed campus but kids wander on and off campus at all times. We filed a police report when items of value (more than $20) were taken. Eastlake boasts sports and clubs and many, many opportunities for students and my children participate in several activities at Eastlake, but I feel their safety and peace of mind is the most important. We also just transferred my son out of a class because the teacher did not know it was a two semester class. She told all the parents and students it was a one semester class until I went to the counselor and he contacted her. It is a very large school and that gives students many advantages but it is also hard to focus on individuals and take care of basic security measures.

Although Eastlake HS has a large student body, the teachers and administration do a good job of helping each student feel like they matter and helping each student find the path that will lead them to the greatest success in their future. I think the school communicates well with parents and is very supportive of the active Parent Teacher Student Association. There are many different clubs, support systems and opportunities for any kind of student and the athletics program is very successful. I think that this school is the best that the CA public school system has to offer.

We moved to Eastlake specifically for the schools in this area and we, the entire family, really like Eastlake High School and the area. The teachers are super engaged, helpful and available.

I think this school is outstanding! The parent/teacher communication here is absolutely AMAZING. If you call or email your child's teacher w/any questions, they get back to you within a couple hours, not days! They have JupiterGrades.com so you can always look up your kid's grades and see teacher's notes about how your kid is doing in classes. You can also opt to get school text messages sent to your phone for report card info or if your kid is late or absent. There's honestly nothing the kids can get away with here w/out you being notified right away. They have the highest high school API scores in the South Bay. The teachers are incredible and truly care about your child's education, their future goals and they treat students w/respect. I'm very happy my daughter is going here. And to the person who wrote in their comment that the kids here are kind of snobby just because these kids here don't act ghetto doesn't mean they're snobby they just know how to act right. p.s. I love their monthly "Coffee with the Principal" gatherings! Great way to interact with the Principal and other parents.

Eastlake is the top school in the Eastlake district. I feel it is over-rated though,you have block schedules and a lot of quizzes. KIds are kind of snobby, they drive BMWs.Mercedes,Range Rovers... Just because schools have high API scores does not mean they are actually good and that your student will enjoy the school. Similarly, just because a school has a low API score does not mean they are bad.

Our son recently graduated from Eastlake High School with a honors diploma and will be attending a top notch college in the fall. We felt the education he received there was excellent. The school offers a variety of AP and honors classes that will help prepare students for the next level. Along with the outstanding athletic, arts & performance, music and robotics programs, Eastlake's diverse student population and sense of family, makes it one of the best public high schools in the county.
