As a former student of Mar Vista Middle School, I didnt expect excellence but I at least expected basic human decency. The teachers were fine, the education was passable, but the way this school allows students to treat one another? Absolutely unacceptable.
Let me be crystal clear: my sister was harassed and yelled at by another student to the point of tears and what did the other kids do? Pulled out their phones and started recording. Not to help. Not to intervene. Just to turn someone elses pain into their entertainment. Disgusting.
And where was the school in all of this? Silent. Passive. Letting it slide like its just another day. No serious consequences. No accountability. Just a culture of kids will be kids while actual harm is being done.
Heres a reality check: ban the phones. Teach your students how to be decent people. Because right now, the only thing some of these kids are learning is how to be bullies with cameras. And to the parents yes, Im talking to you maybe actually talk to your kids. Because some of them are part of the problem, and either you dont know it or youre ignoring it.
This school has potential, but the way things are being handled? Mediocre at best, harmful at worst. The world isnt going to coddle these kids forever reality will slap them hard if you dont start holding them accountable now.
Do better.

Teachers are passionate and really care about the kids. The activities on campus during school and after school in its FREE after-school program are enriching and help with learning.

At best this school is at a average. The test scores are low. The teachers are always almost there. The substitutes are always laid back. Would not recommend to a friendly parent.

This school is a great school. I would strongly recommend it to any caring parent who wants their child to have a good education. My child use to go and he got a great education there. He had straight A's thanks to the amazing teachers there. GO MAR VISTA MIDDLE!!!!
