We particularly love the project based approach of Casita, that the staff and parents are exceptionally engaged, that the curriculum is well balanced between scientific and creative offerings and that despite all that it is an accessible and inclusive school. Our kid loves going to school here and made a lot of friends in the two years she is visiting Casita. The teachers have a great strategy of motivating the children by reinforcing positive behavior and encouraging initiative and independent thinking. The principal Ms. Chien is super approachable, empathetic and her and the staff earned the school a Blue Ribbon award. The only thing that I find irritating, is the necessity for constant fundraising. That being said, the school and PTA excel there to bring in the funds to make the outstanding program at Casita possible. The results speak for itself. Go cougars!

I went here kinder through 5th and I have nothing bad to say about Casita. I'm in 8th grade now and I wish I could go back and relive every second of it. It truly is the best school environment I've ever been in and I would recommend this school to everyone! Since I've left things might have changed but whenever I think I about Casita I remember how loving and caring all the staff, teachers, and students were there. I, like many other kids get scared or anxious about going to school but at Casita I never felt worried or judged. All of my teachers were so nice and really respected all of the students there. I really wish I could tell you everything I love about Casita but I would probably write 300 pages. If you want your kid to go to an over all amazing school I would highly suggest Casita.

Principal Smith is simply amazing. There are no words to fully describe her dedication and commitment to Casita.

My son suffers from ADHD, he has received help literally since the second day he started kindergarten. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the attention and extra educational as well as behavioral support he receives at Casita.

100% no bullying policy and frequent school counselor’s reminders make Casita a perfect K-5

Posted: February 20, 2019

Homework is optional yet strongly encouraged - principal and teachers value quality family time over completing homework which matches Scandinavian school modeling as it has proven to be one of the most efficient and productive for students K-5.

Teachers often participate in staff training and are highly qualified to meet demands of very diversified student body.

Casita is the best choice for K-5 in the North County, in my opinion this school’s rating should be 10/10. If your kid is curious, wants to learn and explore - this is the perfect place to ensure your child develops true love of learning and self-discipline.

LOVE Casita! My child is supported by a great team of teachers/staff that are caring and organized. I love how effective Casita's communication is with the parents. We are always in the know by text, email, and voicemail.
The IB System develops great character in students and helps them to think "outside the box" and be a critical thinker to actually be ready for real life and not just be able to take a test. Thanks Casita!

Our children have been going to Casita since 2009. Our neighborhood school was Empresa at the time. I asked to tour many schools in our area. I visited Empresa (first declined a tour but I persisted) then Ivey Ranch, Christine McAulife and VAPA. I was impressed with Casita and the opportunities for technology, science and math labs. It's a great school with amazing teachers a VERY dedicated principal. You cannot compare Casita with any school in the surround area. We have a garden, backyard habitat classroom with wildfire cameras,
allowing for animal observation.
Many parents are involved with writing grants for local businesses to fund projects. The PTA continues to gain momentum and become stronger each year. It's clear why we have a long wait list to gain entrance. GO COUGARS!!!

Love that my children are learning so much at a great rate. The teachers and staff are great and genuinely caring. I love all of the projects they have the children work on, especially when they work in the garden. Every May they have a star party where the children, their teachers and family get to go camping and stare gaze. My children's teachers are both love their job and stay on task.

My sons are loving school this year! The atmosphere on campus is warm and welcoming. I have a son who just started Kindergarten and at pick-up, he greets me with a smile and "I love school, mom!" My 3rd grader enjoys his new learning environment. With all the subjects being taught through hands on creative learning, and is encouraged to explore Casita's gardens, spacious play grounds, as well as. I'mm looking forward to volunteering my time, to help nurture the butterfly habitat, that well be developed for our children, so do their science classes in.
