This is a wonderful school! We moved to El Dorado Hills approximately 3 1/2 years ago and were looking for a supportive and advanced educational environment for our children that would both challenge and enrich their scholastic careers. We found both at Rolling Hills Middle School! The administrative staff goes the extra mile in ensuring all students receive outstanding care both in the classroom and beyond. There are multiple learning streams and after school activities available to all students and the parent involvement is off the charts! This contributes to an amazing atmosphere that substantiates our love for this community and this wonderful school!

My son is in eighth grade here and has loved his time in middle school at Rolling Hills. He is thriving, academically, socially, and all around. I am highly impressed with the teachers, the administration, and just the overall feel of the school. They do a lot of fun things for the kids and keep them engaged in academic celebration and also just overall middle school activities.

We've been incredibly impressed with the school, teachers/staff, communication, engagement opportunities for the kids, clubs, extracurricular options and clear guidelines for students and parents. We love the 'away for the day' policy as well - keeping kids focused on school/relationships, not phones. The staff/teachers have all been fantastic using modern technology and teaching methods. I love the accountability they put on students helping them grow not only in curriculum but in becoming responsible humans.

My third kid is currently going here and I will definitely be sad when his time comes to an end as we have had a phenomenal experience at Rolling Hills. My three kids have always felt safe and have truly enjoyed their teachers. The principal is absolutely amazing and there really needs to be more of her at every school. Great environment, great teachers, great education, and overall GREAT school!!!

Rolling Hills Middle School is truly an amazing school! The staff is dedicated, kind, and always goes above and beyond to support the students. The principal, Mrs. Bowers, is exceptional—her leadership creates a welcoming and positive environment that encourages both academic success and personal growth.

My child is thriving and genuinely happy at this school. The teachers are not only passionate about their subjects but also deeply invested in the well-being of their students. The school fosters a strong sense of community and provides numerous opportunities for students to excel and explore their interests.

I’m incredibly grateful for the nurturing and inspiring environment Rolling Hills provides. Highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a place where their child can flourish!

She has engaged, caring teachers, a wonderful principal who has been there for years and clearly cares so much about the school and the students, excellent communication with parents, the list goes on. Middle school comes with highs and lows and the staff understands that and supports the kids so well. Thankful for Rolling Hills!

This has been the best move for my daughter. She was being bullied badly in Texas for years at school. My aunt lives out here and we took the chance moving. My daughter started 6th grade at Rolling Hills. The families are amazing and it shines through their children at school. There is no bullying, no fighting, and all the kids are helpful to each other.

My son is currently attending the 6th grade at Rolling Hills Middle School. The school seems to be good overall. Each day our son and others try to run to the lunch line but they never seem to have enough food, even with the free lunches provided by the state to the entire school. The first week of school, they ran out of hot lunch each day. He came home hungry each day, for a week! Finally, he has received lunches but they run out or do not have the special item of the day. This is very sad to hear when he returns home.

The core group of teachers have proven to be steady and on track. The gym teachers are suppose to be grading on participation but we see that their expectations are that the students should be at an experienced athlete level. This makes it hard for the average student to achieve an acceptable grade.

Overall, this middle school is meeting expectations. We do hope that the rest of the year will prove to be much better.

We've had a great experience with Rolling Hills. Being new to the area, we were excited, yet nervous about a new big school for our daughter. She had grown up in a smaller private school from K-7th grade. All that said... this was a perfect fit. The teachers are warm, friendly, funny, and reasonable with their expectations. Our daughter had no problem making friends and enjoys going to campus herself each day. Many thanks to Principal Bowers and the rest of the staff for a job well done:)

The thought of my daughter, with special needs, starting Middle school sometimes kept me awake at night. However, the experience that I am having with Middle school, Rolling Hills, has been much better than our time at Elementary school. The staff at Rolling Hills are fabulous!!! They are kind, knowledgeable, professional, supportive of all students, and very respectful. The administration also ROCKS!
The academics is set to a high standards in which they will challenge your kid just a little to the point of growth!
Generally, I would recommend Rolling Hills Middle School to all parents that value a good and supportive education.

We moved to EDH a little over a year ago and I was very concerned about moving while my kids were in middle school. Surprisingly, both of our kids transitioned easily. They love Rolling Hills and have met friends fairly easily. Our kids were doing virtual education in the bay area for about a year a half prior given Covid and were doing fine but upon assessment needed to catch up to EDH standards. The teachers were amazing and able to help catch them up in no time. The sports programs have also been great!

My older daughter went to Rolling Hills and received a great foundation for high school, including being given the opportunity to be in advanced math and Spanish (both high school level courses). My son is currently an 8th grader and having the same experience. The leadership and teachers did an amazing job, teaching and connecting with students, when they were in hybrid mode last year because of the pandemic and they continue to promote safety while the kids are back in-person this year. When I've had concerns or questions, I have been able to email the principal, Mrs. Bowers, and always receive a reply back from her immediately. This is an administration and school that listens and supports the students.

Rolling Hills Middle school is set in the direct center of some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Northern California. The school itself has a clean outdoor campus. The principal and vice principal are fully and thoroughly engaged in everything going on in the school and the community. They even update us on what trends are happening on tictock. The teachers follow this leadership. They are dedicated, hard working and 100% communicative and transparent with parents. The curriculum encourages those who want to excel, yet can be supportive when kids need more help. It is no surprise to me that this school was recently recognized as a distinguished CA school. I've had 2 children enrolled in Rolling Hills with one more starting next year. We couldn't be happier.

And the teachers are top notch. We highly recommend it.

I love RHMS. I have had three children go through RHMS. I love the option to take Spanish 1 over 7th& 8th grade, provides a wonderful foundation heading into high school. The advanced math path is awesome foe kids that are ready. When my son got sick and had to go on home hospital, the school was right beside us making it as easy as possible. When working with his 504 plan, I always felt supported. Have not met a teacher there that doesn’t truly care about the kids and their education. I feel so blessed to have had my children at RHMS, from the school nurse, the administration, the counselors and teachers, it is truly one big family.

I haven't had any experience in detail yet. We currently live in Lodi, California and my kids go to Elkhorn Gate school. My kids didn't want to move. But after I took them to Rolling Hills open house, they immediately knew the difference and they agreed to moving and they now are very excited. This is the only place where you can get all Elementary, middle and high school next to each other with score of 10, 9 and 10 respectively. If you live near by, your kid can walk to all schools from K to 12. Great schools and great locations. Will update once my kids start here.

Posted: May 12, 2013

I recommend this school. The teachers are great and there are fun activities during and after school. The only downside is the band class. The teacher does not teach you anything and you have to learn how to play yourself. He only gives you music and yells at you for playing it wrong. Also, he looks down on the younger students, like the 7th graders playing with the 8th graders. Other than that, this school is Excellent!

After moving here from Orange County and spending the first half of the year with my daughter enrolled at local private school (Golden Hills Academy) we moved her to Rolling Hills Middle School. I could not be more pleased. My daughter spent K-7 at a highly accredited private school in OC. I though the private school here would be the correct transition. I could not have been more wrong! After moving my child to Rolling HIlls due to so many inadequacies at the private school, they identified that she was behind in both Spanish( the Spanish text book at the private school here in 8th grade was the one the 7th grade currently uses at both Rolling HIlls and my child's previous private school in OC putting my daughter 6 months behind) and Math. The teachers have been wonderful to her, spending extra time with her to get caught up and even having her as a Spanish aide to offset her disappointment when she couldn't test into their Spanish program. The kids have been great and after first day jitters all made sure she was welcome. Private education doesn't always equal better. RH Teacher also just named Teacher of the Month by community. Excellent School!
