I recently graduated this school, and I would not recommend it at all. If you are in the clique of people who fit in, schools great. You have great friends and your teachers love you and you can talk to them, but if you are an outsider, your years here will be heck. I happened to be one of the unpopular people, and it got a point where I would beg my mom to homeschool, or switch schools, and it severely impacted my mental health. All of my friends except one were fake, and they'd openly, purposefully exclude me and other people, and the outside people would constantly receive backhand compliments, and be told that we have to shrink our personality by teachers and students alike. If you were not an insider, many teachers would also treat you as less, and it was clear most of them had favorites, which seemed to be encouraged by the whole environment of the school. When Mr. Brough was confronted about this obvious favoritism, and clear verbal bullying, he'd dismiss it and at most, talk to the bullies. If the bullying wasn't physical, he wouldn't do anything, and couldn't care less. After you had talked about this bullying with him, or other staff of students, everyone made you feel like you were overreacting, or were stupid for feeling the way you were. I would definitely not send your children to this school but do your research.

I went to this school from TK(which was called early fives at the time)-8th grade and overall my experience had a lot of ups and downs. I was a struggling student in my early elementary years and was offered no extra help or advice. The only thing I do remember is being taken outside of my 2nd grade classroom to finish a timed math exam, which at 7 or 6 years old felt like they were trying to separate me from the rest of my class. In 4th grade, my teacher decided to do a separate classroom style where most of the students in my class were divided into this larger group with the instructional aide. While the leftover( 5 or 6) people were in a small group with the main teacher. At the time I believe she attempted to help my struggling reading but instead made me feel singled out by her comments towards me. At that time as a struggling reader, I was put in an uncomfortable position where I felt like I was walking on eggshells every time I had to discuss what book I was currently reading and how far along I was in reading it. At the time the librarian made all students take a reading quiz on a book once it was completed. I was so anxious when taking these quizzes that I would consistently not do well on them, causing my teacher to separate me once more and make me choose a lower-level book to help my reading when it did the opposite. This permanently left a mark on me as I now struggle to communicate with teachers. It was also that same year when I overheard the librarian and my 4th-grade teacher discussing one of my classmates and her younger sister, till this day I remember the exact conversation and hearing the rude comments that the librarian made towards my then-friend. In 5th grade, we had to do these timed math assignments which caused me so much anxiety, and as 10 year old I found myself writing letters to my teacher and apologizing for not graduating to the next math level. My experiences in my 4th and 5th grade years all led up to my first panic attack which was held during a math test in 6th grade. At a young age I was showing signs of high anxiety due to the judgment of teachers and peers. Due to these experiences, I have been diagnosed with Panic Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder mainly caused by test scores and grades. It is because of my experiences with the teachers here, that have led me to not trust teachers and have difficulty expressing myself. I have more stories to tell but due to the word count, I can't.

I've been going to this school for most of my life, and take this viewpoint from a current student. This is a great school, however not every school is perfect. Your kid will find it easy to socialize within a month here. Most teachers care about you and your psychical and mental health, and care about their job. The lessons are well planned out and to be honest, I love this school, yet there are few to many flaws. Some kids you will meet aren't as welcoming as others, to say the least. If you have a bad relationship with teachers that also wouldn't be helpful. As well as the buildings and bathrooms are a little rundown, with minor problems happening everyday. But this is what I think as a current student. Don't base this off my opinion, and ask around and do research. Thanks!

We were the for 6 years and witnessed Brough, the principal and Fr David run this place into the ground. No more music or Spanish teacher. Allowing disrespect from students and parents, but never putting their foot down for fear of losing an enrollment. Thats all these students became, just a number to their enrollment. Its become so bad, they dont have enough to fill classes and are combining them. Fr David is not a good person, take this from someone who went to Catholic school for 12 years. Run to another school, dont go here.

We had our children here for three years, the last year we had all three enrolled. My youngest did TK at this school and she also gained so much anxiety from both the teacher and especially the teachers aide who was a grumpy, in my opinion, MEAN lady who needed not to be in school setting. I hear she has since retired, thank goodness! My little ones first time experience was a poor one, its left a mark and I was glad that school year ended with my child
home so she would not have to be subject to those adults.
Overall, I didnt like the behavior of the faculty, staff, and even some of the families who think they run that school and yet still seem to be just as disappointed as my husband and I were at OLL. Most if not all the teachers are moody and not respectful to parents/kids. Take your kids somewhere else, that is my advice. I wish I
Had good things to say, I wanted to have good things to say. Done.

In my opinion, I do not like the school. My class was not treated fairly. We never got our eighth grade sweaters because we didnt deserve them. When I specifically remember my 8th grade teacher saying we would get them soon we just need to plan on a color (for the sweater). And we did, yet still didnt get them. I also saw people being bullied and/or acts of racism between classmates. The teachers did not try and stop the racism occurring in the classroom.

Bullying is a huge issue everyone knows about but never speaks about it publicly.
Posted: June 13, 2019
By and large, the students are mimicking their parents elitism behavior and it is apparent even with the younger kids.
Posted: June 13, 2019
There are absolutely no supports for children with learning differences. With large classes 30+ Im surprised they can even keep up with the students that dont have learning differences.
Posted: June 13, 2019
I cant believe we are thought putting our child here was a good idea. This is a school for those who think theyre elite and other peons shouldnt go to school with their kids. The racism, micro aggressions from STAFF, parents, and even clergy are real. For being a Catholic school theyre not very Christ-like. And for being so expensive, Im not getting my moneys worth. I dont pay you to discriminate me!
Posted: June 13, 2019
Some of the younger grades get too much homework. I cant even imagine what the middle school grades get.
Posted: June 13, 2019
While the curriculum is strong in some grades, by and large the teachers seem like theyre always in a bad mood and wont even greet you UNLESS youre from the clique parent group that runs the school because they dont work and have nothing better to do with their time.
Posted: January 30, 2019
No support for students with learning differences. If anything more attention is paid to the "smartest" students in the class.
Posted: January 30, 2019
Bullying is a huge issue in older grades with many students leaving because of it. I'm new to the school and I'm very well aware of this. Thankfully my child has not experienced this, but you hear it in the whispers and side comments of parents going through this. The leadership at the school is complicit because they want to act like they dont know whats going on. Rather they should address the issue head on and start an anti-bullying campaign to educate students, parents and teachers alike.
Posted: January 30, 2019
There is a high sentiment of privilege at this school and it shows in the kids. Integrity is blurred when you can get away with something if you're part of the "clicky" parent group that the administration plays favorites with. Compassion is thrown out the window for struggling parents. And respect is a foreign concept for bullies and their parents, as well as the complicit administration. The caveat is not everyone is like that, and not every child is a bully but by and large this is the case for most at the school.
Posted: January 30, 2019
Many people feel the principal is a pushover and it's really Fr. David pulling the strings, and it shows and it sad because Fr. David runs the school like a business. I understand you need to fundraise but it wouldn't kill you to connect with the parents, show some humility and at least say hi when you come across them.
Posted: January 30, 2019
Recently Fr. David had to take back his plans to install a cell tower at the school, which could have been very damaging to the students' health. He only did so because of severe pressure from parents and the community (whose children do not necessarily attend the school). This is an example of an administration and leadership (much like our current federal administration Washington, D.C.) who does not listen to its people, that does not take into consideration their needs and wants. Moreover, they do not show compassion and humility. This school is great if you want your child to succeed academically. If you want you child to be a humble, caring, respectful Christian this may not be place for you.

Homework is challenging and appropriate for each grade.
Posted: January 30, 2019
Some teachers are very dedicated and effective. Others shouldn't be teaching if it's no longer something they like or if they're only going to put 50% of effort in some days and 800% other days. Bullying is an issue for different older grades. It has not happened to my child but God help the administration if it does.
Posted: January 25, 2019
There is bullying at the school with certain kids. Wish they would be more proactive about it, given its a religious school and with a strong Christian belief system. Or so they claim.
Posted: January 25, 2019
Leadership is defined as an action of leading a group or people of an organization with the intent to be effective. This does not exist with the current administration, specifically with the principal. There is no accountability on his part, and rather, he lives in a cocoon of self-delusion and thinking he is doing a great job. Awful communicator and an even worse administrator. Mismanagement at its finest.
Posted: January 25, 2019
No accommodations for children with certain needs. There is only one class per grade, so the teachers have to instruct the same lesson for all students in the class.
Posted: January 25, 2019
They do not nip it in the bud. Favoritism for certain families is apparent. Also, the male to female student ratio throws dynamics in the classroom and on the play yard.
Posted: January 25, 2019
Average, which should not be the case for a private school, hence the massive disappointment. Class size is an issue, with the average class at 30 students.
Posted: January 25, 2019
Homework is homework. Its part of school.
Posted: January 25, 2019
Teachers at this school work unbelievably hard and deserve the credit for sticking it out. Cant be easy working for a principal with terrible management skills.

First off, believe the negative reviews. We didnt and stuck it out for 2 years. We wish we left sooner. Classes were too big and so much emphasis was on money, fund raising and appeasing the "Click" parents. Our child attended for 2 years, TK and K. The TK was awesome and very hands on. We loved the teacher and saw so much progress in my child's love for learning. Most families were wonderful and welcoming to us. But it appears that there was a lot of favoritism to families who did a lot of fundraising and contribute to the community more than a working parent can give. The parents who were part of the principal's "Click" were very superficial and not inclusive. Yes, it should have been about my child's education, instead . it was about my childs status in the click parents.
Kinder was like preschool all over again. Class size was 30 kids. (Yes private school with 30 kids?) Very little attention was given to my child and to my child's learning. We were told over and over again that our child is fine and that our child was doing great. But test scores went down and we noticed a resistance to learning and a difficulty in trying learn. We experienced bulling as well and the principle did nothing to resolve it. So if a child of one of those "Clicks" was doing something inappropriate to my child, nothing was done to rectify. Our child came home sad and crying about the other kids. The parents did nothing to correct behavior. The principal and teachers did nothing to help either.
The after school program, Kids Club, is joke. They higher young people to play ball and let the kids run around and then once they are tired, they bring them in to watch a arg screen TV and movies. Most parents of this school, did not send their kids to after school because they either had family to pick up their kids or they were stay at home moms. Nothing wrong with that, but the Click parents never used the Kids Club, so it was not a priority on the list of improvement. (Money talks)
We left the school and are so much more relaxed and at peace with everything.

This is a Catholic school and some of the reviews are not very Christ like. That says more about the reviewers than the school. No school is perfect. I do agree that if your child starts after kindergarten it can be a difficult transition but that would happen at any school. Are there parent cliques? Absolutely, but as I have friends that is not an issue for me. My child goes to school there not me. The curriculum is challenging and engaging. The math teacher Mr. Rances is one of the best middle school math teachers I have encountered. Having met many of his past students they have all said that they were well prepared for advanced high school math. They all learned to be organized and accountable. From what I observed the kids learn from him and respect him. I believe the new ELA teacher could benefit from mentoring but his lesson planning appears to be sound. As for cost this is a private school. No one should enroll their child with the expectation that they will or even be considered for a scholarship or discount. The school does make it clear that they are a community so feel you are "required" to volunteer at the church shouldn't come as a surprise. I nor my husband have any desire to part of the Men's or Women's club and have never felt pressured to do be part of these clubs. As for Mr. Brough he has made many changes and change can be difficult for many. Some of those changes have been very positive and some we need to wait and see. However the key is that the changes are progressive and forward focused. Overall I am a satisfied parent.

Mr. Rances is an outstanding math teacher. The kids learn organization and accountability. The primary teachers such as Mrs. Glassy and Mrs. Pisano prepare the kids for the next grade level. Mrs. McPherson is an excellent teacher for those students struggling with reading and reading comprehension.

My children are completing their second year at OLL and they are both thriving. My son's STAR scores are all in the 90th percentiles which is all I can ask for. My children love the school plain and simple.
I have read the complaints on this page and will say that people don't always like change. My wife and I had two concerns in the past two years and Mr. Brough made himself available to discuss them, in great depth, for hours. OLL is increasing the difficulty of the curriculum and that called for making changes to staff and procedures that some people didn't/don't like.
If your kids are just entering elementary school, go meet Mrs. Dabsys and you will be sold on OLL. All of the teachers that interact with my children are always available to meet in person or discuss any concerns in emails without delay. I have never had to wait 24 hours for a returned email or phone call.
The families at OLL are priceless. There are little niche groups but that exists everywhere. Most of the people that I have met are friendly, genuine and interested in making OLL a top learning institution.
My wife and I are not wealthy by any means and the decision to commit $14k per year for elementary school isn't one we take lightly. That said, I don't regret the decision we made for a moment and plan to send all of our children there through 8th grade.

The school has always been a very good one with a huge alumni of great people who have hallowed the halls thought the years. The new principal should be leading the hot dog stand, not the school. To the dunk tank with Bruff...He's not what this school needs or deserves...

The school was fantastic for the last several decades until the new principal took over. Bruff is a complete Buffoon. He is arrogant and is not qualified to lead a school with the reputation it has earned. This guy should not even be a teachers assistant. He is rude, unfair and quite frankly should be broomed from education all together. They should keep this Jack in a box...He has people dropping out like flies...My children flourished once they moved on. What a complete waste of money.

Wow, the negative comments are amazing! Too bad people are free to hide behind anonymity. I keep reading the negative comments and they seem to be coming from the same one or two people who are unhappy with the school.
I have talked to parents whose children transfered into OLL for various reasons. Some from public schools and some from other local Catholic schools, and the most frequent comment when they hear about complaining parents is "let me show you where my kids were. My children feel supported, respected, and they are getting a good education"
As for tuition, the base is lower than most, and we get the basic scholarship (discount), I am active in the parish so we get the parish scholarship, we also get a multiple student scholarship for having more than one student in the school. I don't understand who these people are who keep saying there are no "discounts". Do they not understand what a scholarship is?
I am grateful for what OLL had given me and my children, as a school and a community. I feel sorry for those who are bitter and small - who feel their only voice is website. Unfortunately, they are the lot who are only happy when they get their way, and in that, they will never be truly happy.

honesty is an important trait and I feel like it is not done at this school. it is not taught that is for sure. kids are taught to fear the teachers and lie to get ahead. it is sad.no hate it. we are leaving with our two girls aa soon as this year is over.

I am disappointed by this school and how my money goes no where to really teach our kids. this school is all about nickel and diming us. forget it if you are a working family. you get no compassion and they want you out unless you can pay $$$$ and be in the church elite. s me problems are $3000 in scrip. $500 in mandatory donations. $800 in mandatory school fees per year. $80 in mandatory church raffle tickets even if you don't use them. tuition with no parishioner discount any more. the teachers are unavailable after school to help students. the principal is not very compassionate unless you are part of the men's club. teachers add only certain parents in their Classes on their social networks as friends which is a real conflict of interest. parents should not be online Friends on teachers' Facebook and Instagram accounts. But, they are! That is unfair to the parents who don't even use social networks! if you aren't in the Men's Club, work hours for Masses, or hang out with the teachers or the older church families and their social circles, your childRen will get less attention and less care. be aware of this school if you considering it. if you are in the friends circle with the principal and church, you should be fine. if poor enrichment programs aND no library you don't mind, this school is ok for you.if you want something better, go to at. john eudes.

This school is one of the best decisions I've made for my kids. I have a child in Catholic high school and another in middle school at OLL. Both of my kids started in the Early Fives (pre-K) program at OLL. The school does an excellent job preparing the students academically but also provides a strong religious preparation and education as well.
The review that goes on and on about what the students are doing in their extra curricular activities has no merit. How is it the responsibility of the teachers at OLL if the kids and parents are poorly behaved in their extra curricular activities? I believe that is the job of the parents to monitor the children outside of school hours.
Yes there have been changes, and change can be difficult for some people to adjust to, but instead of being a stick in the mud, be open to the changes. I believe the new principal is trying his best to increase enrollment, stay on the cutting edge of Catholic education as well as provide a strong foundation for all students to build upon both academically and spiritually. If you don't like what is going on then just speak to the principal directly. Certainly we are all entitled to our opinions, but try to behave like adults. After all, as parents WE are the primary educators of our children so let's behave that way.

There are no perfect schools and everyone can find fault with any school, but I was shocked to read some of the bad reviews about OLL. I cannot identify with any of the complaints and some of them are completely false. We've been long time parishioners and my kids go to school there and we are happy with most of the changes. I think all the grades get to take their devices home for the first time this year, the teachers care about the students, this is the first year there is a Spanish teacher, and back to school night I got to hear from all of my kids' the teachers. I hope people don't use this as their main source for picking schools because it seems to be complaint board for some people. OLL is a good school.

Despite previous reviews, the school does its best foster honesty, integrity, and fairness in its students, but these virtues must first instilled and modeled at home.
Unfortunately, there are individuals who have decided to malign this school. I don't know if they don't like change, they have a personal disagreement with school policy, or some other issue, but they are obviously disgruntled.
What I do know is the previous 2 reviews are filled with lies and GreatSchools doesn't seem to care. This speaks volumes of the site's integrity.
If you look critically at the last 2 posts (8/15/2015), they were posted a full 11 days before school was in session. As an example, student never took devices home prior to school start on 8/26/2015, making the claims obviously malicious and posted to harm the school. To me, this is not an adult response. If you are unhappy, change schools. If you have concerns, act like an adult and talk to the administration. Either way, show honesty, integrity, and fairness. The virtues you would expect to have extended to you.
One stars or five stars, this site has no relevance if it doesn't respond or act on reported posts like those previously mentioned. Thank you for reading.

This school used to be a great school. It is so disorganized! Poor administration, not all teachers are strong, poor classroom control. They take iPads away from kids who forget to recharge them as a punichment. They yell at students in the class. Poor communication is between teachers and kids. No more tuition discount for parish members. The new principal said all schools do this. St John Eudes and St Gen's give parish discounts. School is only interested in being nice to you if your family is there every day at every church function and church club. My husband doesn't like OLL Mens club because he does not feel comfortable with those men because they are mostly white. The men now is not friendly with him. If you r not part of the popular OLL crowd with lots of money, you won't be accepted. Your kids are given 3rd class rating. My sister and I went to school at OLL in the 90's. It was better then. The sisters were good to us. They knew that our parents spoke little English but made us feel welcome. We are not happy.

I think Catholic and private school education is known for its outstanding work in teaching having morals, fairness, tolerance to differences in people, and teaches the kids to have integrity in everything that they do. My family is been in this school for several years. I have not seen this in the last few years. We got new principal and he wants just money but no more help to teach teachers to be better like public school teachers. There are teachers who teach that being a seen Catholic at the Mass is the only way to be really accepted by the church community and the school. They do not separate the school from its church. The kids at the school have shown poor integrity in the activities that they participate in that represent the school. When we see OLL kids at AYSO soccer, Girl Scouts, Cubs and Boys Scouts, Little League baseball, Hip Hop class, Swim Team, we see kids whose parents allow them to cut corners. Some parents at OLL teach their kids it is ok to have their parents do their work for them or their fundraising. Teachers know that this is going on and let it happen cuz it is easier for them. Teachers are not taught how to handle kids of all walks of life and levels of academic skill. So it is sad. I feel worried that my kids is not able to learn better from their teachers about being good people who are honest and work hard.

Most of the staff and parents are uninformed as to hours owed and fundraising in general. There are lots of rumors and communication is poor, poor, poor. I cannot wait to end this school year.

Our Principle Mr. Brough, is truly amazing and understands us as kids. He talks with us, as if we were adults just having a normal conversation. He doesn t hide in his office; he is always out around the school. Our Pastor has done so much for us, and he is helping connect the church and the school even more. He is always around the school and church, and occasionally stepping into our classroom to discuss what we are learning. He is very nice, polite, and funny, he puts others in front of him, to make sure we are all happy. As a child gets older they can participate in even more things around the school. We have Decathlon, Year Book, Student council, Alter Serving, and sports. In conclusion, I absolutely positively, love being a student at Our Lady of Lourdes!

We love OLL! Our kids enjoy the spirited community. Year after year we are impressed with the faculty. The teachers and staff work so hard for our students and the proof is in the pudding - kids are well behaved and test scores are high. The parish community is welcoming and the school's new leadership has been a breath of fresh air. Our kids look forward to school everyday! We make sacrifices to send our kids to Catholic school, my husband and I think OLL is worth every fundraiser and festival service hour.

I'm not sure if this school is worth the drama and bad teachers. OLL is a disaster. You've got broken promises regarding the curriculum, the teachers do not spend close attention on each child, they are negative about certain kids in front of their student peers, the teachers dont know or care how to help them properly. This school never quite lets parents know what's going on and the principal and the main priest who "runs" this school have very unfriendly and fake attitudes, I cannot see what the hype is about. They are really fake about it. Yeah, but one thing that you can count on from this school - is calls for fundraising and donations. And if you dare to voice your opinion about the school, you will be voted off the island! Either agree that OLL is the most awesome or leave. As a parent who questioned issues with the school, I felt like I was treated like the enemy! We are about to pull our children out of OLL which touts a premiere private school education in a sea of better Catholic and private schools in the Valley. Nobel Patrick and Patrick Henry are a million times better. If your considering OLL, run away!

We are a current parents at Our Lady of Lourdes. We brought our kid to this school this year as a new younger student. We were promised by the last principal enrichment activities after school, good kinder and elementary teachers, a foreign language program, even if was done with Rosetta Stone. The school teachers and parents are unfriendly to the new families. If you are not part of their click, then they will not want to socialize with you or give you information. We're working parents. We don't have time to socialize with non-working parents. They must live a life of luxury because we have to work to pay for our kid's tuition. There is no parishioner discount. The priest that runs the school took that away. The kids look unhappy except for the ones who are in a click(parents are in a click). Enough already. We will take our kid and our money and go to another school. If Christ said open your arms with love to everyone, then why does this Christian school keep their arms crossed all the time? There is no Christ-like love here. That is very hypocritical and we see this as night and day from the visit that we had last year with the last principal who was open to us coming here.

As a parent who attended Catholic schools and whose children are graduates and current students at OLL, I am pleased that our students are encouraged to serve the school. Unfortunately, as shown by a previous posting, this value seems to undervalued or misunderstood. I remember when I was in school, having to serve the school and parish community, often during school hours. As to the rise in tuition, I did not notice the small increase, but I remember seeing that the tuition for parishioners is lower than the cost of educating my children. Also, I was glad to see the multiple child adjustments return. Parents, nice, mean, or snobby are a part of any school. It is a reality of living among other people. What is unfortunate is how many of the parents use social media, like Facebook to complain about little inconveniences. I brought this up to the teachers during conferences, and though they thanked me, I was also told not to worry about it, people need to complain. I really have been happy with the school and look forward to what the future holds with the new administration. Since it is thanksgiving, I will say that I am thankful for all who take care of my kids at OLL.

Change is never easy, and our community is trying to adapt. I have experienced some frustration as well, but I believe that giving a 1-star rating is an emotional response. OLL is still one of the best schools in the area. There is a reasonable classroom size (approximately 25 students). It is a safe environment, and a well-kept campus. There is a solid academic program, with up-to-date technology. Parents of older OLL students and/or graduates have told me time and time again how prepared the kids are when they get to high school. There's also art, singing, performing, PE, etc. I really like that the older students are required to commit service hours to their community. These kids are encouraged to thrive in a nurturing community. Regarding the 'snobby parents' comment below. Yes, there are a handful of snobby parents at this school. But I'm not one of them. And neither are the majority of other parents at this school who, over the years, I've come to consider not only as friends, but also as family. This school is not perfect; there are opportunities for growth and development. But if we want our community to thrive, we have to be part of the solution.

I am just glad we left at the right time. As a paying parent in this economic time , i really can't afford to subject myself or my kids to such changes . I'm sure the storm will pass and I pray that our Parish will survive this tumultous time for the best.

During the past year, there has been a change in administration at school. Like the other parent reviewer, I also think this change is politically motivated. A principal with over 14 or more experience was replaced with a principal who has no background experience whatsoever running a school. This is very obvious with his decision making. I believe Principal Brough was hired just to carry out orders from Father David who has a different agenda for the school. Numerous staff were laid off in the past few months which administration has cited to provide financial stability for the school. However, administration has raised the monthly tuition cost by $80 per student this year with no ample notice. This is one of the largest tuition increases the school has had since we have been here. The school is a non-profit institution but it is starting to be operated as an institution for profit. One of the casualties of the layoff was the Librarian. With the librarian gone, there is no one to maintain the library. Administration is now using the 8th grade students to clean and maintain the library once or twice a week. As a parent this very upsetting. This time should be used for academics.

Beware of this school. As the other reviewer has written, there is a new administration at Our Lady of Lourdes, one that is both inexperienced and politically-motivated. Those who attend a Catholic Church school or are involved with a Catholic parish know exactly what that means, and it is not a positive connotation. There is a total lack of organization at this school since the exodus of the last administration. The teachers and principal have no clue how to centralize their homework assignments and test/quiz dates effectively. The teachers are on several different platforms for assigning homework that make it complicated for the student and the parents to understand. The school lacks consistency in communicating with the parents, despite their poor attempt with the weekly "brown" envelopes and weekly emails. There have been important events, policies, and situations that have occurred that were never conveyed to the parent. The information sat with a 5,6,7,8th grade child who has a lot of things on their mind by 3pm each day, none of which are those important bits of information that you are a parent need! If you want clarity and organized teachers, go elsewhere.

Our child loves this school, we love this school. The teachers, administration and pastor, Fr David are equally wonderful. There is no bullying, no cell phone usage, monitored rest room visits, strong sense of community, locked and secured access during school hours, strong faith and curriculum standards, monitored and taught respect for teachers, parents and fellow students, ipad instruction during the week, plenty of PE, art and music, strong parental participation, screened and office permitted access only to property/school during school hours, parental participation, consistent progress reports and testing, strong homework guidelines with signed daily parental approval required, positive and friendly sense of welcome and community, taught and demanded respect and manners and high requirement for an excelled and far above average education. Bravo!

OLL is a nurturing, highly aware and very well run academic institution. We considered many schools for our son, our only child and distance didn't matter (within reason).my wife found this school after heavily researching all area schools throughout the entire SFV. And beyond as well. The teachers, parents and students are a great family-like community that insure the students are caring for each other, excel in their academic level of achievement , and remain as bully- free, drug-free and danger-free as any parent could hope for. A truly wonderful experience that we would highly recommend to any caring and concerned parents. Our son is in great hands, loves the school and is always well adjusted thanks to the "well-oiled" practices, procedures and highly qualified staff and curriculum at this school. Every school should be as concerned for student well being and as "buttoned up" as this school. Worth EVERY penny and more! A truly outstanding experience.

It's okay here..... if you fit in. The parents are very clicky, as are the kids. Very hard for older kids to transfer to this school, since friends have already been made in earlier grades and parents and kids are snobbish. I would recommend starting from Kindergarten, if possible, rather than transferring in. Teachers seem ok, but unfortunately, there's only 1 class per grade, so you're stuck whether you like your teacher or not. Academics are very light in early years, then piled on in later years. Keep this in mind if you might transfer out later, or move away. Your kid will be behind public schools academically for grades K-3. They catch up in Grades 4 & 5, and for 6, 7, and 8, your kid will be ahead of public schools. Don't ask me why they do it like that, I dunno. We have 2 sons still there, our older one is having a hard time with friends and academics, the younger one, who is a slow learner, is actually doing better here. Technology program is awesome, though. Also, don't get on the wrong side of the Principal. She's great if she likes you, but get on her bad side and things get ugly quickly. I've seen it with another parent. So we have mixed feelings, hence the 3 stars.
